2018 Worlds - Milano (Tickets)

Yes, I recently went back and looked at the old Worlds 2016 site and Boston VIP tickets were even more expensive than this!  As mentioned above, something like $2300!

Mid-level regular all-event were $697 I think (something like that), so was Helsinki, so I imagine similar tickets for Milan will be around $700 also.

Yeah, we were shocked in a good way when the prices for Helsinki were announced, because we expected it to be a lot more expensive after having seen the prices for Boston. I still have the Helsinki price list (prices are in €) if anyone's interested, for comparison. (the first three rows were sold as premium all-event seats, and those were around 1.000€. Later they sold some single event tickets as premium tickets, but those were the last few rows on the judges side)

I sort of expect Milan to be a bit more expensive than Helsinki (given the much higher prices for those VIP packages)

I hope my question is not inappropriate and I know many asked it before but I'm wondering about it 24/24 since I need to work a lot (in my studies and get a job) to attend to worlds : Do you think that Yuzuru will attend to them? I read that he should in order to get the 3 spots for worlds 2019 in Japan. I would love to hear your answers about it since the main reason why I want to go is to see him skate live :snonegai: (I would love to see Javier, who I guess won't r**** before worlds so that his fans would afford to see him there and I hope Patrick too)

I'm not 100% sure, but I'm 99% sure he'll go. There are many reasons.

One is to earn spots for Worlds in Japan—that's a team-based reason, which has proven very important to him. It's not at all clear they could earn three spots without him, and he wouldn't put that burden off on others.

The individual side is important as well. Look what he did in 2014. It mattered to him to win the triple crown, grand slam: GPF, Olys, Worlds. Even if he skates perfectly at the Olympics, that wouldn't make him afraid to go for it again. He isn't the type to hold back in order to protect his past achievements. He might be really tired by then, but he's also insanely driven.

I would encourage you to go. It will be fun, and other people will be going, so you could meet a lot of fellow fans if you want. Seeing him live really is that much better. It's the biggest difference I've seen with any skater. If you love watching him onscreen, you will be ecstatic experiencing his full movement across the ice in person, because cameras can't quite capture it.

I think it's far, far more likely that both Javier and Patrick will r**** right after the Olympics (okay, Javi maybe not, what with it being Milan and all, so close to home).

If I were Hanyu, I'd want to make Worlds 2019 the final competition, and the best way to guarantee that happening is by going to Worlds 2018. I do not doubt at all that Shoma could pull off getting three spots, but why put that pressure on one skater?

Oh my God, I just looked up the Ice Level tickets for Helsinki and... it would have been 200 euros total only for Men's Short and Long program??

I know everyone has different economic situations, but... spending 200 euros to see a competition (nevermind the train ticket to go to Milan) is just not possible for me. Not now, not ever. I am very shocked.

At this point, I think I have no choice but to hope they'll publish the forms to be a voluntary worker in Milan, and I''ll apply and hope for the best.

Figure skating really is an expensive sport... both for the skaters and for those who watch.

Yup, it is little for some but for others it's alot! My head starts spinning when I see all event ticket prices :drama:

I hope you end up working at the event! Meanwhile I am already saving my money.

At least til Milano that's pretty unlikely for me soooo I will just need to keep on resisting the urge to buy pretty things :hachimaki:

Don't despair. At the last minute, people will be selling extra tickets cheaply, or even giving them away for free. Just get yourself there and it will work out. Skip hotels and stay in a hostel or airbnb.

Can Shoma do it alone? Their next top skater would still need to place 12th or higher if Shoma wins.

It's too uncertain. They need Yuzu, and he would never shirk the task.

Well, Shoma might suffice if Japan decided to send only him and leave everybody else at home :slinkaway: but if they have to rely on the combined result of two guys...... season hasn't started yet, so maybe another miracle boy shows up out of the blue, or one of the established guys suddenly skates lights out at every competition. But right now it looks like Yuzu and Shoma are still their safest bet to get those three spots.

Yes you are right. I will wait until to the last minute, after the Olympics, and to be sure that Yuzuru will go to World in Milan.

Then I will buy the tickets for Men SP,  FS and  Gala only.

I don't care much about the rest of the competitions.

So I will have more time to visit the city and museums and save the money.

I read that they usually sell individual tickets starting from September (this is what I'm actually waiting for) and for exemple in Helsinki the cheapest ticket for SP was around 20 euro and fs around 37, I hope they will sell these kind of tickets and that we can afford them (and get them before it's sold out). For the accommodation like it was said, I will go to a hostel or airbnb (I saw some good places near the center of Milan for around 25-30 euro/night). For sure Ice level tickets are pretty exepensive (even in individual ones, if I'm not wrong, they were around 65 euro/ icket...). The best solution is to wait for individual tickets, buy the ones of the farest balcony and cheer up for Yuzuru like crazy from there :hachimaki:
