anna's skating skills are so aggressively average, and it really holds her back performance wise

This is where I love Japanese ladies. They may jump easier stuff, but boy, do they perform!

Man, I think Anna's time is over. Who knows if she will even get an Olympic spot now?

I have to say, kudos to Sasha for her sheer guts and determination. She really wants that Olympic spot so bad and I think she showed today that she deserves it.

Huh Shcherbakova went for only one quad? I thought she'd at least try 2, one Flip and one Lutz (just like at IdF) or two 4F. With the one fall, the wobbly and UR 3Lo and tight jumps, even Tuktamysheva could've beat here had she skated clean in the short program. I know RusFed probably wouldn't let Anna stay at home, but still...

Anna has really regressed so much this season huh.

didn't covid really do a number on her? plus the fact that she relies almost entirely on being very thin to get her rotations can't help.

behind trusova. well I can't say I hate that. Anna performed more, but no matter how empty Trusova's program is Anna isn't nearly good enough components wise to deserve to go ahead with that. still very overscored though, but I basically consider all the numbers here made up

hasn't she been doing only 1 quad? i guess the last time i watched her was worlds.

yes, anna seems like she's barely holding herself together and just really can't wait til she gets to go to the olympics, probably medal, and then retire.

She’s so clearly undernourished.

I hate this program, it does nothing for Kamila. Frees are usually worse than shorts due to the jumping requirements, but boy is it obvious here. Kamila is genuinely very talented but the other aspects of her skating only show in the short. This program manages to turn someone who is capable of being a compelling skater into a forgettable one outside of the jumps and spin positions.

i mean, considering that Eteri is willing to do anything to get Anna on the team, she'll go. But why Eteri is putting her eggs in Anna's basket over her 472504752 other skaters idk.

ok i barely watched that but Kamila will win here and she will win at the Olympics too, great

Apparently, it’s down to Anna’s family who are quite powerful. And definitely wealthy.

Anna has an established reputation, and she never left Eteri, I guess

oh really now? interesting

Kamila is a true talent, and a great competitor, but she really could be so much more if put into the hands of someone who is actually good at choroegraphy.

She was building her stamina back. At her first competition this season, the Budapest Trophy, she fell from every single attempt of her 4F (practices, warm-up, her FS too), she didn't even try 4Lz there. At her second GP event, in France, she already landed 4F and went for the 4Lz too (she had a weird fall at the take off though), so I definitely thought - given how much of a fighter she is - that she'd do at least two quads at Russian Nationals.  She has regressed so much I wouldn't be surprised if she retires after the Olympics.
