Coquelicot
I've been only vaguely following skating over the past year, but this news pulled me back into orbit! I'm so ready for next week and so not ready. What a time to be alive. Link to comment
DancingFeather
You know what I am praying for? A really happy Yuzu in Kiss&Cry. Link to comment

sweetwater
Finally watched the recording of the video myself. As this is a season for him to achieve his ultimate goal and every international competition ahead is a chance for him to land it and get it ratified, it wasn't surprising to hear this kind of comment before NHK, but doing imagery training of hearing it and actually hearing it are two different things From his hairstyle, outfit, and the placement of the microphone, it is highly likely a comment from the same day when he was wearing the green pants and said he was thinking his 4A was "mou chotto (almost there)" so he may have already been there or may still be on his way. Either way, I believe he will get there in the end and appear hand in hand with 4A at a competition. May his journey be safe and fulfilling before and after meeting 4A! Link to comment
liv
Nessie might be rearing her head, sooner rather than later... that would be glorious. He has usually been fairly certain about things in the past when he announces them, so there might be something real, rather than mysterious, swimming around that rink in Sendai. Or, because he's achieved his goals he has nothing to lose anymore at competitions (ie. before wanting to be clean to maintain reputation with judges) and it's a Hail Mary attempt at Nessie just to get it out there... either way, the anticipation for NHK is very real, first because of seeing him competing again and to a new program/costume etc., but now because of this. Seeing Nessie achieved, for me would be like seeing a UFO or ET in person. They really DO exist... First we have to get through the next week.... Link to comment
Geo1
I’m sure that it’s been on other people’s minds as well, but Yuzu really likes to tempt fate doesn’t he? His big jump for the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics was the quad Lutz and he was practicing that at the 2017 NHK Trophy when you know what happened. I’m hoping, wishing and praying with all my might that Yuzu will successfully tame Nessie and remain healthy and injury free. Link to comment
micaelis
So Yuzu"s said he's ready to debut Nessie. If that's the case, the TV audience in Japan for the men's free-skate will be enormous, percentage-wise on the scale of the SuperBowl here in the US. I think what is likely also to be noteworthy will be the number of skating fans from around the world pulling up whatever live-stream that can do the job for them. I do hope that the fans in the stands will restrain their enthusiasm until he's finished his skate. Nessie would be worthless if the cheering derails his program. What else will a successful 4A do? It will make Yuzu the one to beat in Beijing. The narrative of a Yuzuru Hanyu, armed with a 4A and seeking his third successive Olympic gold will be the dominant story at Beijing, not only for skating but for the entire games. If Yuzu has the 4A and takes the gold he'll return to Japan as the all-conquering hero. He'll probably get a parade in Tokyo in addition to the one in Sendai. Link to comment

Are we even sure he will still go to the Olys if he lands the 4A to his own standards in NHK? He might not even go to CoR or Nats Link to comment

OTOH, since JNats20 whenever he is asked about retirement, he just giggles and changes topic (read: he is scheming something). He is terrifying. Link to comment

He might do all the comps this year, He might pull a Javi and do one come per year next year with all the quads there are just for s**t and giggles or he might stop there at NHK if he really gets what he wants. He can also get a new program just for a comp because he is chaotic. He can do anything and attend any comps he wants and for that, Beijing is still both a yes and a no and the r word is up in the air LoL. Stanning this madman makes me lose my hair but I don't regret it one bit. Link to comment

I've been at home for 6 months due to social distancing and buried with online work everyday. I'm running out of energy and I don't know how long I can hold it. But Yuzu is still here persistent with his unimaginable goal, and says he'll SHOW the result of his quiet work now. Whatever the result becomes, I feel like I can do it too, so I can show smt when this pandemic shit ends. That's what this madman has inspired me. Whenever I feel that I can't continue any more (like jogging for 5 miles), the GOAT always keeps me going. Link to comment
KendallKlaire
Honestly if I had a preference for how Yuzuru operated this season (not as if I have ANY control over it) I'd say Yuzu competes in the NHK, drops out of the Rostelecom cup (due to the high infection rates), and then competes at nationals. If he's landed the 4A (to his satisfaction) by then I could see him retiring after a home competition, but if not he'll probably go to the Olympics. Just what I'm thinking right now Link to comment

Until now, he was always quite vague about it. I believe he wouldn't just put undue pressure on himself - let alone risk injury recklessly - without having a high enough success rate and a stable enough technique to actually land the jump in competition. He doesn't have to prove himself to anyone anymore and he knows that. To me, this is a man full of confidence and certainty. Go, Yuzu! Yes, that look says it all: He's landed it. Fasten your seatbelts, fanyus! Link to comment
