As of now if he were to return to Japan he’d have to quarantine and it’s not really worth it if he can make-do with the training he’s doing in Japan. At this point who knows if he might participate in Asian Open Trophy or even in Japan Open, and traveling from Japan makes more sense if he is. Rika has a real tight turnaround between Skate Canada and NHK too, and so will Yuzu between Rostelecom and the GPF. I think they’d have to train under same quarantine rules they had for WTT? Rika does not have to quarantine when entering Canada (I am presuming she is vaccinated as the JSF said they would have their skaters vaccinated by August.). Who knows what rules will be in place for any country two months from now. I hope Japan gets their percentage of vaccinated up. Link to comment

Does Yuzuru need physiotherapy because of his older injuries or is it to maintain his well-being? I think, it's both. Especially now with the 4A training and big changes of his body he surely needs someone for monitoring. Many damages to your body are not visible when you train, that only specialists can identify and take proper countermeasures in time. Having access to physio is definitely recommended in his case. Totally different topic. This is a survey that I wanted to do a long time ago: What would you say are the top 3 Yuzu programs or single performances in the 5 different program components (skating skills, transitions, performance, composition and interpretation) and why? I am especially interested in the reasoning for skating skills and composition. You don't have to list up everything, just what comes to your mind and really stands out for you. I would be very grateful for responses with detailed reasonings Link to comment

Good evening the Fanyus : I hope that Yuzu, since he returned to Japan found a physiotherapist who have a strong capacity to heal and I went to see their skills which are (I quote and which will be translated not you ALL and ALL) ) : relieve and prevent health problems and intervene in pathologies : muscular / articular / respiratory and sports injuries and Yuzu had them en masse ++++++ and also back pain / muscle injuries / ASTHME: yes and despite being a very high level athlete, he still needs help with his physique and, it is clear, his well-being (in my opinion) and I read that there is massage therapy which erases tensions and contractures and providing relaxation is a real pleasure and allows you to recover after an effort (sound 4A) Also while researching, I came across an article from a Frenchman who is a physiotherapist (but who did not learn it in Japan) and married to a Japanese woman and who deplores that the country is very poorly suited to therapeutic body care services. ! ? He lives in O kinawa and has written books and goes, with his wife Yuko, in TV and radio programs. . Link to comment

Yeah I’m assuming if you’re vaccinated now Canada doesn’t require you to quarantine on arrival, but Japan still does (though it was imposed on their own athletes but not international athletes for some reason). I assume most of the Japanese skaters are now vaccinated since the JSF said they were planning to vaccinate them ahead of the GP. I assume this is why Yuzu may have agreed to do more of his typical work recently (Frau, 24 HR, DOI) which hopefully means he’s also getting physio care. I think someone was looking at his legs in the behind-the-scenes footage for SOI Link to comment

DancingFeather
To the compilations of Ina Bauer (thank you @Henni147), I stay with Origin 1 and 2, but I better don't start. How does he even manage to do Ina Bauer and Hydroblading in so many variations yet always in his unparalleled style? Thank you everyone who replied to my contemplation a few days ago. I appreciate your thoughts and I really recognized myself a bit in every answer. I feel understood. The connections Yuzuru creates are amazing, and I think the Population: one fits him in several domains. Sorry I didn't answer individually, too busy at work (what in return cuts down the long wait). So... The topic of Yuzuru returning to Canada or not goes round in circles. How about discussing his next gala program? Where do we actually have galas this season? Link to comment

When you're training at the level and intensity Yuzu does, you probably need a physio as a preventative to keep any minor strains from growing into serious injuries Link to comment

As for the rest of the galas, I have no idea. Thankfully I love surprises. That, or a repeat of PW or R&J 2 to revisit his triumph and exorcise any lingering kuyashii feelings, if he has any. Rika has travelled so much during this pandemic, that I think she must have a very good set up for training in quarantine when she returns to Japan. I can't see how she's managed, otherwise. She's been around the globe while everyone else has been stuck at home. IMPORTANT TO NOTE: I am not saying the above as a criticism. If Rika has this pandemic thing figured out so that she can safely go where she needs to, when she needs to, then good for her. It might just be the thing that gives her the edge she needs in Beijing. Link to comment
