IDK about what the gift might be but it made me think about what i'd gift him if i had infinite money - a portable air purifier. I just had a horrible though that Yellow Dust tends to roll in around/after Seollal. I have no idea if it hits Gangwon-do but it would be awful if it came in early. I hope Yuzu stocks up on fine-dust masks before coming to Korea :S

:sadPooh: I remember he stayed at a different place (please correct me if I'm wrong) from everyone else in team JPN during Sochi because of the poor room conditions...

The gift is 25 hand-painted folding fans all made with different costume themes from Yuzu's senior years. They're super delicate and detailed, just breathtaking. I believe it was posted on the planet like many many hundred pages ago... but here's a link to see them now :)

The fan who made them says she's moved to tears to learn that her gift and good wishes are handled by Yumi-san with so much care. She knows that her love and gratitude have reached them and is appreciated and cherished. I feel so happy for her - the folding fans will surely be kept by the Hanyu family for a long long time!

Oh wow! So happy for her! Those fans are absolutely beautiful!

Oh, I've seen this! They were beautiful and I'm so happy for her that she was able to give them to Yuzu (and family). :7938863:

I think they tried to get him to have a single room but I don't think the request was actually granted? Are you sure he ended up staying separately?

I'm still recovering , one thing I want to mention here is that the live experience is absolutely magical!!!!!!!   its worth every hardship or obstacle or lying on concrete at night or getting squished  by others. :darklordyuzu:  ( Milan is in Italy right ?  :tongueyuzu:)

anyway, before I have time to report the fs experience when I get back from work I just want to quickly mention this,  during warm up or st like that ( my brain is still in daze, don't remember exactly) they played the song " I'm sexy and I know it " and I saw Yuzuru skated around beautifully and I thought to myself, " what a fitting song ". :joy:

Wow. So they really gave them to him. Imo, those fans are one of the best gifts and greatest honor an athlete can ever achieve. It's a testament to everything he's ever done for the sport and for those whose lives are touched by his endeavors. When I first saw them, I thought they'd make a great gift to the athlete himself so it's really good to know that the fan was generous enough to gift it to the athlete that inspired their hard work and all that absolutely breathtaking art. Being a fan of intricate details, I'm absolutely positive that he'll love them to pieces. And if I were him, I'd treat them as the crowning glory of all of my achievements and treasure them even more than any medals I've ever won. ^^

When asked in a post victory interview with Yuji Ueda in Sochi, he replied that he roomed with Machida in the Athlete's Village. I don't know if he remained there from after his event was done until after the closing ceremony but I honestly don't think he's overly picky about living conditions, especially short-term ones, considering the 4 days he's lived as a refugee at an evacuation shelter where the conditions were pretty much dismal. If he could live in conditions where every time he stepped out of one of the portable toilets, he had to scrape human faeces off the soles of his shoes, he can handle subpar room conditions. He'd probably rate them all 5-stars after those 4 days. Methinks he can probably handle and stomach a lot more than the average person, heh.

I have horror stories of my own about rooms I've stayed in in Tokyo. They're all clean but they're also...hmmm...the last one I stayed in a few months back gave me hives. I'm not at all sensitive to this sort of thing usually and it's never happened to me before anywhere else I've ever stayed within Japan and outside of it. So I'm thinking that hotel chain must've used some kind of super industrial strength detergent to wash their sheets and while my body can take a lot of punishment immunity-wise, it drew the line at the chemicals used in this one.
