SuzyQ
Has this news been already posted? (Again, I'm in "Where am I ? " situation in the thread. Sorry, I always pop in suddenly.) This is about the arrangement of practice venue for Japanese figure skaters for the Pyeongchang Olympics, as the Figure Skating is scheduled to take place in the morning due to broadcasting reasons (so I heard). https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20170907-01883933-nksports-spo Rough translation: It was learned on the 6th that the Japan Skating Federation is considering to secure the "early morning practice place" for the figure skaters of Team Japan for the Pyeongchang Olympics. Figure Skating events are often held from the evening to the night at major competitions, but it is unusual for the Pyeongchang Olympics and all events will be conducted from 10 am to late afternoon. The official practice is expected to take place before 6 o'clock in the morning, and the skaters will have to adjust their condition to an unfamiliar schedule. Hidehito Ito, chairman of the JSF’s figure skating committee said, "It will be confirmed after the National team members are decided (at the Japan Figure Skating Championships in December), but I will encourage the use of domestic facilities including the National Training Center so that skaters can practice according to early morning hours ". That would be amusing, to see people waiting in front of their TVs expecting a Ballade or Seimei analysis, but then get Cat's Eye lol. If it's from Niigata though I won't be complaining... I think the story was when Yuzu was a tiny bed doing a competition in Finland he got a sandwich, and saw something red in it and was like 'omg yay tomato!', so took a huge enthusiastic bite expecting yummy tomato goodness and instead got a mouth full of red bell pepper. He felt betrayed and now I guess red bell pepper in just the taste of disappointment and betrayal for him. (if this is the correct story i am dying because he is adorable) Link to comment

Maybe he means this sour green paprika, not the green bell pepper which is sweet like the red one. To me it was just surprising hear him saying the word paprika, because I had no idea they use the word in Japanese Link to comment

We don't have it in Italy I guess xD And yes, it was surprising to me too, paprika is the spice usually. I don't know why Japanese sometimes messes words up like this! Reminds me of the awful use of the word 'pepperoni' in American, which supposedly means spicy sausage, when actually 'peperoni' in italian means 'bell pepper' (paprika LOL) and 'pepperoni' doesn't mean anything. Vivienne
So there is one more reason for me to love Yuzu: he can be my teammate, the hate-all-kinds-of-paprika team Link to comment

No, it's fine, paprika is used for both the spice and the vegetable in its original language, Hungarian, I don't know in other languages though (English included). I use it more for the vegetables, because we have a different way if we refer to the spice. It's possible that it's the same in Japanese language. Anyway, I really like how Yuzu pronunciates paprika, it's really good Link to comment

(Americans are not tho.) Awww can you link a video in which he says it? Link to comment
