Since everyone serms to be feeling pretty squishy, let me say this and add to that: I haven't been around much (mostly checking for news *still crossing fingers so he's healing okay*) because my uni workload is insane right now, but this forum has been a godsend from the beginning. I'm the type to lurk or only really interact with a small circle of people, but the atmosphere here has always felt welcoming and the debates are interesting, so I haven't regretted being active here. Good job, everyone *hugs*

As for the issue of being 'bad fans' or 'fans for the wrong reasons', I really don't give a sh*t. As long as everyone's respectful, people are allowed to enjoy a thing however they see fit, in my opinion. Don't pay attention to the naysayers: that battle is already lost from the beginning, and the people who really matter won't need lenghty explanations to understand (as a woman who enjoys football, I've been through this all my life and I'm over it. Life's simpler when you stop giving any fucks XD)

(Sorry for the rant, you all just got me on a squishy moment *runs away to the lab*)

A change of pace and a question to everyone.

So if you had an opportunity to have a short one-on-one conversation with Yuzu (pretend language isn't a barrier), what question would you ask or topic will you like to discuss?

Yuzu's mind and thoughts are so interesting, and another thing I appreciate about him. Sadly though I don't think I can hold a very deep conversation with him because if I ask anything too profound or outside my range of knowledge like his current studies, it might just go over my head. I'd probably just talk about music in general, like what interests him or what he thinks about contemporary music, if he imagines himself skating to random music he likes (like I do), etc. That's a lot of questions though, but I guess under one umbrella. I'm sure he could get very profound with his answers for any topic including music.

If I could only ask one question though, not thinking too hard and off the top of my head, I'd maybe ask him for his personal recommended things to do or eat for Japanese tourists outside the basic stuff, since just that I would find interesting to know. It'd be a reverse of the previous question that was asked on here about what we'd show Yuzu if he ever visited our country/city.

Regarding the "bad fan/good fan" thing, yeah, i think it isn't important at all. However there was a time i felt really conflicted because i didn't think i was doing a good job as an admin, being so open about my feelings while rarely commenting on the skating aspect. We are a forum dedicated to a skater and i often floof the place too much.  However, my gushing for his skating would be a thousand times worse than the way i gush over your avatar if permitted :pouty:

Oh boy this is such a hard question for me and i've thought about it a lot.

But i think that what i would love to discuss with him would be "passion".

Few people are able to find their passion in life, and i consider myself lucky to have found mine (i was a practice demon once too, my teacher had to tell me to stop practicing so much before i injured myself.). There is something so enthralling about watching someone speak about their true passion in life, and in his case it covers so much than just the act of skating, that i feel it would be a very interesting conversation.

I mentioned that i found mine because i would be able to relate to him, and it would be a dialogue rather than me just listening to him without offering anything to the conversation, which, i'd like to think, would make him feel more comfortable and he wouldn't feel like he's being "weird" or "too extra".

i swear i am a sane fan tho. But sometimes it is frustrating and i end up breaking down hahaha. I think @Xen can vouch for my sanity, because i didn't break down after watching him break that WR and there are witnesses that there were no dying whale noises the first time i saw my namesake live

glad to hear that :tumblr_inline_mqt4grU8ua1qz4rgp:but pity there is no dying whale noises :P we all need to have dying whale moment in life!

hmm I could think of 2 things that I wanted to discuss :POOH: first is about his unyielding hardworking spirit, as I am pretty fast to give up on things and not working hard on stuff that I really need to work hard on like my abandoned thesis for the past month, shame on me I know!  I always found it admirable that he keeps on pushing despite all the injuries, bad skate, etc etc and work really really hard everyday! I really want to know how his thought process is like in person...

second will be about interpreting his songs to the program! I just love how he carries a program :tumblr_inline_ncmif5EcBB1rpglid: I know it's part of the choreographer's job to instruct him too, but I'm very interested to hear from him in person... I sing in choirs and we do interpret songs before performing it but songs more often than not have lyrics so it is much easier to convey to the audience

I hadn't watched skating even casually for a really long time before that video of H&L popped up for me, and I watched it and thought, "Oh wow, figure skating achieved perfection when I wasn't looking." But I honestly didn't realize that that was just Yuzu at his best. I thought the sport itself had evolved that drastically in the few years I hadn't been watching it at all. (I watched mostly to see pretty spirals and spins from the ladies, honestly.) I soon found out different, didn't I!

Also, anybody who attacks Yuzu for anything he does in his personal life will find out that the Evil FanyuTM is a thing because I will become that thing. This deathstare cinnamon roll overlord shall be protected at all costs. AT ALL COSTS.

Though if I could ask him one thing ever, it would be a very frustrated 'Why don't you listen!! To your team and your body! Listen!!!'

I'd ask him why he wants to keep destroying my life by never performing in Australia. (Oh yeah, ドS, I keep forgetting.) Seriously, though, you could make a killing selling tour packages to Japanaese fans. I'm tempted to get into event management to make it a reality.

Also, yes to the first thing. H&L was so utterly perfect I had a hard few weeks coming to terms with the knowledge that something so beautiful could actually exist in this world. It made me love the creatures known human beings again after seeing all the hideous crap they've been pulling in recent years.

I would definitely ask him about his studies since I am very curious about it. His field of study is similar to mine (human computer interaction) and we both have interest in psychology and education, so I think we can have an interesting discussion. I would love to know how he relates what he is learning in school to his skating and what he thinks about using technology in FS for training or even judging...

I guess that is enough, I should stop here before I end up writing an essay and expose how much of a nerd I am

Oh, guys, I've just caught up with 5+ pgs of squishiness ... :tumblr_inline_mqt4gi8ECy1qz4rgp::tumblr_inline_n18qr5lPWB1qid2nw::tumblr_inline_mueoe3Yabh1qdlkyg: I love it love it love it when the thread is in squishy mood ... fangirling abt Yuzu and ranting abt missing him ... (I miss him like crazy rn tbh ...) ... and I've said it before, I don't give a FF about others who call us Crazy Evil Fanyus... I believe IMO that any figure skater in the world would love to have a fandom like Yuzu has, so loyal, supportive and protective like we are ... following him everywhere in the world and loving him unconditionally ... and I said it before, our forum is amazing, the admin/mods team is so supportive and understanding ... I, for once, don't feel any need to check other FS Forums at all ... :tumblr_inline_n18qr5lPWB1qid2nw:

I would also like to file my complaint against this forum for indiscriminate sucking of my time and attention.

A place so wonderful should not be allowed to exist, and should be heavily fined for transforming former lurkers into enthusiastic members with more than 3,000 posts to their name.

Where do I send this complaint?...

The seventies.
