  1. So, is Shae-Lynn going to choreograph all the top men? any chance we can send Boyang to her ?
  2. I am sure that Shoma can handle complex programs and challenging choreography. We have criticised him before but I don't think anyone disagrees that he does have very good skating skills, stamina and is a wonderful performer. Shoma's real problem is his jump technique and I think he needs to focus on finding a coach to help him with that. I hope he finds a good technical coach while taking responsibility for his own programs. He should start to have more input and to push for more complexity in his programs himself rather than relying on his team for everything.
  3. Well, this is interesting.. Shoma was determined before not to leave his Japanese coaches and to remain in Japan. I guess last season finally convinced him that he needed a change desperately. Though I admit I only expected him to find new choreographers and not move overseas. I am really curious about where he is going. Shoma works hard and if motivated and with the right coach, I think he really had a good chance of improving his technique and getting back to top form. So, fingers crossed for a good place and good luck to him
  4. No it doesn't work, but I think I figured out the problem... Something my internet provider did is blocking those videos. They work fine when I used my mobile data, which sucks but not really an issue with videos themselves. Thank you and sorry for taking your time
  5. I think that we need to remember that the changes at TCC happened at the same time when a bigger change happened in Yuzuru's life and probably influenced him more than anything else, and that is the Olympics. Yuzuru was very focused on wining his second Olympics gold and everything he did in the last Olympic cycle was toward that goal. He worked tirelessly to perfect his elements and up his BV because that was what he needed and now that it is over he is free to experiment and try new things (or bring back old things). Maybe the other skaters have influence on him, it is natural when he (or anyone) interact with other people. But it is his willingness to experiment, learn and take risks that really matters here. Especially when he could have stuck to what he had before and it would have been enough.
  6. Help.. I can't play the videos of FaOI in the video section. I get a thumbnail and the play button but nothing happens when I click on it.
  7. I voted for SC and RC because I think they are the best timing wise. Yuzu needs time to recharge between competitions so I think those two are the best option. He may end up at NHK if he or Japan wanted it badly, but I hope not. It is too close the GPF
  8. Lol... So the ISU looked at the scores from last season and Missed the terrible result of making the GOE value 50% of the element BV (especially for quads) Missed the terrible injustice of the points rewarded for difficult combos and sequences Missed all the many mistakes by the judges and the TPs Missed the low BV and GOE for StSq and spins (to be fair they have been missing this for a while) But totally noticed that URs when called correctly can destroy a skater's score so they addressed this issue... How very nice of them
  9. Nice choices, especially the FS but with Karen you never know. She may change her mind by the time the season begins I am glad she is coming back. The US ladies were not very interesting last season and she can hopefully shake things up a bit
  10. Happy anniversary to the Planet and all the satellites I can't believe it has already been two years .. If the planet was a baby it would be walking now Let's continue being crazy together until our forth or fifth year so that we can have it start skating
  11. I think that contacting the organisation we want to donate to and explaining the idea so that they can help set up a way for all of us to donate as one would be helpful. Maybe one of our Japanese satellites would be willing to talk to them and set this up so that we can share the method later with anyone who wishes to donate. We do need to have an easy to use method that supports international payments.
  12. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Leave Mai alone DW Nothing against DW, (or maybe just a little) but why won't they change to someone else for her
  13. I can't decide between this or this Why Tomono, I love you... why do this to me I hate you
  14. Each of us have different taste, it is normal. I am sure the skaters will give you enough for your own "to mute" list for the new season
  15. Can we lose some of the emojis please. It was hard to find the ones I want before and now it is takes forever. Also, when the internet is bad (which is practically always) the emojis list takes ages to load and sometimes many of them don't load at all. The new ones do load faster and have names so it easier to search, but there are still way to many of them and I am used to the old ones so I would rather keep them or maybe just keep some of each group?
  16. First entry on my "make sure to mute" list for next season.. I hope it won't be a long list
  17. Yuzu will not compromise his skating by following Raf's strategy. That is not him and the opposite of his own strategy. Also, I would advice against sending these analysis to him or his team as it may not be received well. Yuzuru himself is really good at analysing his and his opponents scores and strategy and his team worked great with him so far. It is possible that sending them suggestion for what we think is best layout or strategy may be taken as a lack of trust and faith in their ability to put up their own. It is okay if we discuss it between ourselves and he may actually know that we do and reads it, but he asked us to trust him and we should do that. It is his skating, his future, his health, and his vision. Let him decide what to do without us interfering.
  18. This should added information for the judges and does not replace them. A judge sitting there should be able to see who has good skating skills and who doesn't. Also, a skater with good skating skills will have easier time maintaining and varying their speed. I am just thinking that this kind of information would be useful to inform decisions. I don't think that we will ever or even should eliminate the human judges in FS, but we can provide more information to help them make better calls and to be able to hold them accountable when they don't
  19. Looking at the reactions from everyone and my own anxiety from losing the planet, it is clear that we all need an intervention to help us with our Yuzu addiction or maybe not, since I like having this problem
  20. I think the most important contribution Icescope can have in its current design is to provide accurate data on jumps performed by different skaters. There is always this debate about which jumps are naturally higher, which jumps require more speed, how different entries affect the jumps size, is the height and body type of the skater important for a jumps size, and many other questions that when answered can help refining the rules and score skaters more fairly. Maybe after this data is collected and analysed the software and its numbers can be used for scoring like @Old Cat Lady suggested, but it is important to make sure that the numbers are understood first, so that we do not discriminate against any skater because of their body type or technique. What I think would be really helpful for judging and easier integrated into scoring is calculating the skaters speed and ice coverage, which can be done easily with the overhead camera and a motion tracking software. With the ice as a background, it should be fairly easy to map the skater's movement in real time and calculate their speed. This could be very useful for the judges and giving the result of that as a graph shouldn't be complicated.
  21. I don't think translating English would be necessary. Yuzuru's english is quite good and since he likes to do research I am sure his reading comprehension is even better. Personally, I prefer it if we can use our own words when writing the messages and translations would change that. Maybe make it optional and have those who can translate offer help to those who want to write their message in two languages? this way it will cut the work load for translators
  22. That is not what I meant. I just think that it is hard to predict how he would interpret it so it is better to go with something safe just in case.
  23. I don't think that a funny design or an inside joke is a good idea in this situation. When you are upset about your own performance (like Yuzu is feeling right now), it doesn't go well when someone tries to make a joke even if it is funny and well intended. Maybe we should go with something beautiful and hopefully small so that he can display it at home or carry it with him?
  24. I don't think Yuzu will be doing anything reckless in the free. he has been in this situation before and he won by skating his planned layout the best way possible. What he really needs is to calm down and regain his confidence, everything else will follow. I am a bit worried though because of the ladies results. I hope he doesn't pressure himself to get a win for Japan because the ladies failed to do so and Shoma is a question mark at this point. Hopefully Shoma will do well to help both of them relax a bit and feel better about the competition
