Yuzuru has already put his name in the history books whether "some" people would acknowledge it or not Can he add more to his legacy? sure he can. If healthy and motivated, Yuzu is a force to reckon with (not healthy as well, but I don't like to contemplate that) Does he have to do more? Not at all. He has nothing to prove to anyone (but I want more because I am a selfish fan and I am sure he wants more because he is Yuzu )

If you look at the required bullets, the elements is supposed to get positive GOE if it was executed successfully and with good enough quality (not necessarily spectacular), which is the right way to give skaters incentive and motivation to execute their elements well. A lot of the time I see fans suggesting more punishment than reward, which would actually work better because people generally hate being punished way more than they like being rewarded (there is real research on this ). However, considering the young age of the majority of skaters and the sheer amount of effort required to succeed in the sport, I personally believe that positive incentives are better to keep the skaters (especially children) motivated, help them enjoy competing, and take some of the stress out of it. This is also why I think the +5/-5 GOE is better than the 3 GOE since it gives skaters that motivation to go for higher GOEs even if it doesn't mean much score wise.

What really annoys me in these interviews with ISU members and the congress they streamed is you can clearly see that they are aware of the judging issue and are always talking about how it should be done correctly, and yet we don't see it applied. Punishing the Chinese judges was a good step but a very small and incomplete one that caused more discontent and mistrust instead of helping the integrity of the sport. I know that there is no easy solution to the problems in judging but they need to at least try more seriously.

I knew about the score Shoma needed because the commentators mentioned it and I did know that he won't make it when he missed the 4L, but I still did not believe that Yuzu has actually won until I saw the final placements. Watching Javi and Shoma was such an intense experience because I was, for some reason, convinced that one of them (especially Shoma) will somehow surpass him

I ended up cheating few times but here goes 1. H&L's biellman spin OR Chopin's backcounter 3A 2. Seimei's one leg entry into a camel spin OR The Swan's combination sit spins 3. First person to land 4A in competition OR Win perfect streak in a season ( I don't care about him being first but I really want to see his 4A, it would be a beauty I am sure) 4. 3Peat Olym Champion OR WR holder in SP, FS, and Total under the new system for another 5 years (this means even after another successive Olympic season) 5. Hana Yo Koi and Requiem of Heaven and Earth OR The Swan and White Legend 6. Sexiness: PW 2.0's running-through-hair OR Chopin 3.0's Ina Bauer 7. Costume and hair: LGC or Seimei (Olympics costume and hair) 8. First person to land a 4T-loop-4T combo in competition OR first person to land a Quindruple Toe in competition 9. Change coach and compete for another 4 years OR Retire before the 19/20 season and go on a hiatus before returning as a coach in 2022 (stay with Brian and skate forever, and that is my only answer) 10. Skate clean to LGC in competition or land a Quad Flip in competition (that would be a real miracle) 11. Yuzu's program choreo: Jeffrey Buttle OR Shae-Lynn Bourne (this one is really hard) 12. Favorite rawness/passion: RJ 2012 World or Seimei NHK 13. Chopin's ending pose and reaction: GPF/World/ACI/Pyeongchang 14. Yuzu's struggling with English moments OR Yuzu's laughing sound 15. ITA commentaries OR No commentary 16. Yuzu guest starring in a new movie OR Yuzu guest starring in Tokyo Ghoul 17. New hair color OR Stage make up (Neither) 18. Drama: Skate to YOI's EROS for an exhibition OR Get an IG account 19. earphones OR pooh 20. If YUZU were not a figure skater: would you want him to be a baseball player OR soccer player (Niether, I want to see him as a dancer) bonus: Music choice: Shoma's Moonlight or Alina's POTO
-
Can't decide if or is the proper reaction to that
-
Which one is the international judge?
-
The -4 is clearly an input error, it is the +5 that I am wondering about I have a suspicion that every quad landed for the chosen ones will be +4 or +5

Protocols here if anyone want to check them.. The GOEs are a must see http://skateontario.org/results/18S2/index.htm I am enjoying this mess way more than I should

It's already over. Nam won the competition while Keegan had a messy skate and finished second. You can watch the performances here (Nam at 1:54:00 and Keegan after him)

2018/2019 Season Program Announcements

The senior ladies free is on now if anyone is interested
-
Agreed, there is something seriously off with Keegan's choreo. I thought it was just me but it looks like everyone have noticed it as well, which is sad because he is a great performer and deserves better. I still hope that it will be fixed, there is still time.
-
What were you expecting?!!! its Canada I am personally just happy Keegan is getting some appreciation, he is really better than his scores suggested last season (though his inconsistency is probably to blame for that)
-
What are you looking forward to this season?
Neenah replied to Deliverpooh's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
-Yuzu (duh) -Better season than last year in term of injuries and performances. I wish for healthy skaters and no meltdowns -With so many top skaters sitting down the GP series, I am looking forward to other skaters and teams making a strong impression and talking their chance to shine. -More heart break because of Mai's (and the other Japanese ladies) underscoring which I know will happen. Why can't I stan a top Russian, US, or Canadian lady, life would have been much easier - The new scoring system. I am probably the only one, but I happen to be very excited about the new rules. It doesn't happen everyday that you get to see a new era start and get to experience it with the skaters and judges. Much more fun than trying to understand years of rules and modifications to catch up with other fans. -
Glad Gaby is keeping her Carmin SP. I know many hate Carmin but after watching it live in Milan, I fell in love with it. It suits her so much and she looks beautiful performing it As for the men, it is apparently another day in the office... I feel sorry for male custom designers in Canada, they are probably struggling to make a living, or they just all moved on to office wear I love Keegan and his skating is so smooth. The music is good (I have no problem with Michael Buble thankfully). His jumps are also looking really good, but I am confused about the choreo?!! I just don't see much connection between music and choreo. Hopefully that is just an early season thing and it will get better as the season progress, who is the choreographer? And Nam, is it really a good idea to have the combo as the last jumping pass. That is a bit risky for him but otherwise he looks good. Not sure I like the program but will give it another chance to impress me.
-
Meh, don't care about records since the judges pick and choose who to give candies to and who to ignore .. I just want new programs and a healthy Yuzu with his beautiful jumps if he is clean, he will be on top anyway
-
The ISU is archiving all past records and starting over after the rule changes Understandable of course because the changes are big, but I really hope the early challengers won't go crazy with scoring and ruin the whole records thing

Why are people assuming that he needs all the jumps for media day? He already has new information (his programs) to disclose and that is huge by itself. It's not like he has to give the journalists everything. Wouldn't they (and us) be happy with the music and choreo as well as interviews?!!!! or is that just the fan in me talking
-
The delay could be a simple scheduling issue. He probably wants his coaches there (they are in China) and they also need permission from the other skaters since there will be heavy media presence for a day or two. Maybe they just need to find the best time for it Or it could be an evil plan to troll the fans and keep us guessing and waiting

As long as it is Boyang's decision, I am happy for him and will support it. Leaving your country and starting a new life somewhere else is a huge deal that anyone should be 100% sure they want to do before committing to it. I wish him the best. He is very talented and have a great future ahead of him. I hope he gets all the support he needs whether it be in China or outside.

Why did this happen I loved them and was looking forward to their future improvement and achievements

My favorite performances I have never tried to make a list before since I watch and rewatch everything, but I can make a list of the performances that I am attached to and watch more often Etude - CiONTU (Grown up Yuzu just can't be beaten ) R&J1 - Worlds 12 (duh) NDP- Worlds13 (my least favorite Yuzu program but I find myself cheering when I watch this particular performance as if I am watching it live, so it is kind of special) PW- Olympics individual competition R&J2- GPF 13 Chopin- GPF14, Worlds16 and Olympics 18 (There is very strong emotions attached to these three performances that make them very special as well) POTO- GPF14 Seimei- Definitely the Olympics performance, I still cry every time I watch it (before that it was GPF15) LGC- GPF16 (I like every single performance of LGC put the 4L save at GPF makes that one my favorite ) H&L- 4CC (I have a personal reason for being attached to this performance that makes it more special to me than the perfection at Worlds) As for the Ex programs, I don't usually have the same emotional attachment to them that I do with competition programs and if I like a program I usually like all the performances of it. But I will chose Notte Stellata as my ever favorite program in FS. It was the program that made me realize what it is exactly I like about the sport. It is simply a sparkly, feathery, beautiful package containing everything I love and appreciate in FS That was a very good excuse to ditch my work and rewatch all my favorite performances

That is exactly what everyone is worried about, that all these unnecessary risks will cut her time short and hurt her at such a young age. She is truly amazing and I hope she stays safe to show her true potential, but to be honest I am not very optimistic. I also have the same feelings about Gogolev who I also think is too young for all the quads he is doing
