  1. So, there is smart thoughtful Boyang like the previous post and there is also this Boyang
  2. OMG, there is an avalanche of news and magazines hitting the planet.. Take cover and make sure to keep you money safe you need it for Worlds
  3. Now I know why I am not sinking too low in the ranking, I am actually getting most of the bonus questions right
  4. Oops, I am falling in the ranks Btw, Can you share the answers to the bonus questions please? I like those the most and want to know how I did there
  5. Wow, the new theme was a very pleasant surprise.. I love it
  6. Reading the last two pages in the thread, it has become clear why Yuzu and his team are so quiet about his training and plans. One speculation brought up this debate about what he should and shouldn't do and everyone suggesting what they feel is better. Can you imagine the scale of that discussion if it was taken by the media. The speculations and expectations would be overwhelming, so his choice to keep it hush is definitely the best course of action. I personally think that Yuzu will do what he feels is best for him and I am going to accept whatever that would be. I do not have the information he and his team have, neither am the one training and competing so I definitely do not know what is best in this situation. I also don't think that what happened in past season is enough to predict what may happen here simply because there was no Olympics then and that has been and is currently a huge factor in what Yuzuru does IMO, his mental state will be the deciding factor. If he is ready mentally he can win even on a broken leg, I am sure of it. If he was not mentally prepared and loses focus then no practice or competition experience will help him. So, let us all pray that his desire to win is stronger than any other distractions and that he will take the ice ready for a fight to the last point To be honest, I don't care about the Olympics or anything else, I just want to see him skate
  7. I didn't do great at Europeans and I was doing so well before I am not holding my breath for 4CC. My predictions are basically arranging skaters by their best scores and hoping for the best I did put Jason off the podium since he ended up imploding every time I predicted a medal for him, maybe this time he will do great
  8. Oops! I just remembered that the 16th of February is my sisters birthday I have been thinking too much about the Olympics and Yuzu and totally forgot about her My priorities are so messed up
  9. Teach me your secrets master
  10. I am joining you in the chocolate corner as I don't drink and don't like coffee I did actually eat a large box of chocolate by myself during the ladies free at Japanese Nationals, so it is not new for me and I guarantee it works At least until you check your weight later
  11. Can someone translate please
  12. I finally found this, been looking for since yesterday https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?53491-Measuring-Skater-Jump-Height The post is old (2014) but it is a good example of how to do analysis. The poster explain their methodology, calculate the error ratio and clarify why it is there, then they produce results based on it. The whole process is explained and can be replicated, which is what a true analysis looks like. The result the article published are not the problem for me, but the lack of methodology is. The professor could be right, but without knowing what they studied exactly, it is impossible to verify those results which is why I cannot accept them. This has nothing to do with me being a Yuzuru fan, but everything to do with me being a researcher in STEM. I personally don't care how high Yuzu's jumps are. I like them because they are beautiful and effortless and their size is fine for me. I also have no problem with Shoma or any other skater's jumps since they are doing something I personally can't do and I have great respect for them. Btw, my criticism in not directed toward the professor as I don't know if they wrote the article themselves or just did the research and someone else is reporting on it. Since I can't read Japanese there is a lot I could have missed and the professor could have done proper research but only the results made it to the media. I hope they clarify it soon because something like that is really bad for the reputation of any researcher and I do wish them the best.
  13. This is a rant about "skating analysis" so you can ignore it if not interested

  15. Koreas to march under single 'united' flag in Olympic Games
  16. Brian would be like interpret that as you like
  17. I won a round And a bronze medal overall Congratulations to the winners and thank you @Joey for the fun game
  18. Great minds think alike, lets us ignore our thesis together and go cheer for Yuzu It makes me feel much better knowing I am not the only one with messed up priorities
  19. @Hydroblade Sorry to hear about your grandfather, hope he gets better soon. Be strong Here is one of my favorite Yuzu gifs to cheer you up Source:https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/671317888177616690/ ETA: I can't embed images for some reason
  20. Watching Patric fall apart at SC was a very painful experience even though he is not my favorite skater. So I am fine with what he said in the article if it helps restore his confidence and motivation. Despite his faults, Patrick is a beautiful and accomplished skater that deserves to end his career on high note. I really hope he does well at Nats and the Olympics and I will be cheering for him and Keegan
  21. I will watch it because that is the only reason I will be up at 4 in the morning, and I'd like to think that I have gotten better at handling the stress Just in case, someone check on me after the performance to make sure I survived
  22. It is the opposite for me. I am usually very calm and zen the whole time before the final group's warm up and then I start getting nervous. By the time Yuzu actually starts his program I am a mess. It is a very quick decent to madness that I really need to learn how to handle BTW, this is also why I am reading the worried posts here while feeling quite calm and confident, but I know for a fact that I will panicking in the last 15 minutes before he skates
