Good grief. What is it with faux-leather ending up like garbage bags? Cringe. That sure does look like it's made from those. And once you see it, you can never un-see it. And then you have a running commentary in your head while he skates about crimes against humanity because just imagine if he did all that in lovely faux-leather? Mmm.

Why not. At this point, that might actually work considering it's unlikely polka is going to happen.

^^ Yup, garbage pants. Tell me that doesn't look like they made them from those black garbage bags. Ah but imagine that they look like actual good leather. And then remember what he is supposed to be doing in them. Mmm hmm.

The person may be dyslexic, there was Zhenay too. Thank you Fay. There are so many things in this interview, goodness! She is some lady. About the parents bit, I actually hear what she is saying and I think she's not really contradictory. She wants the parents absolutely involved as support for the skater off-rink and to stay away from the coaching part, which belongs to Eteri and team. This is the best combination. Of course, there are real world issues that may prevent the parent from being deeply involved in terms of being physically present for practices but it really is super difficult without parental support. The whole skaters are children off rink too is I think correct. Their world is skating, practice because that is how it must be for a top notch athlete but with the pressures and everything else, adults on ice. The whole blind obedience thing is interesting. I wonder how she'd handle Yuzuru. What I mean is, partially, I again understand her. Especially when they are kids and then further, they should listen and not buck. It's tough to understand then and it's often safer to just go along what the coach says. Later it's good to have that trust as the sports gets more complicated and more dangerous. And we know she allows some things Zhenya wants, so she's not a tyrant who says no to everything. I guess once the skater is already listening she probably loosens the reins a little. I almost want to see her with Yuzuru. It'd be hilarious because the way he can dig in ... but then, I am not sure Yuzuru is truly typical for a skater, or an Asian skater. Shoma would do very well with her for example. I don't like the airing the dirty laundry in public but boy, I think she's just blunt to the point of rudeness with pretty much brutal honesty. I actually don't mind, I work just fine with people like that but I think she needs both PR coaching and someone needs to get her into a sports psychology class. Or five. She's smart, she obvious works hard, I think she cares for her skaters no matter her language usage and I think she cares a great deal but basically I have the same objection to her that I always had - as an adult she should recognize the skaters who do not function well with her personality type and either pass them on to someone else in the group or overall.

I am genuinely interested in how though? He is severely limited to what he can do if he doesn't add the 4Lz so though technically speaking he will upgrade it for sure, if he adds 2 points to his BV, that is not truly an upgrade, not in reality. Not when you have Shoma for one, and then Nathan, Boyang, etc. On the other hand, he has been working on the 4Lz for a while now as mcq says. Max said 60% around Europeans. So now he has the whole off season where he is healthy, unlike the last one, and he has an entire season to get it working. Who cares if he's iffy or flubs the Lz at the GPF; it's PC where he needs to go clean. Honestly, which ever way I turn, I think he's going to add it because if he doesn't, then he really is going to be at the mercy of others, and that is not him. No need for a 5 quad program then, just the 4Lz. And adding it also raises his rep, which is daft, I know but we know how this game is played. I think the risk of adding the 4Lz is worth it. ETA And this is perfect back up tbh that he can work on in advance. If he doesn't simply go for it straight up.

I hope he doesn't go for Don Quixote because come on, and IMO Javier would be left wanting by a mile. But you know. -
Yes, his Sal has always been iffy and though he's worked on it, I think he'd much rather go for the 4Lz so I expect it. And you can use this for a start - clicky - just remember he's already adjusted, with the second 4F during WTT.
-
You, me and everyone else. And we'll talk through all the possible options ten times over until he does and then when he does, we'll still go oh really? and then talk again and again

Yup.

Honestly, that seems like the best compromise to me and with the right stamina he can adjust it to five in case he needs to because the lz opens up a door for him to experiment big time. And now with the news Shoma is trying out the 4Lz at shows, I think if he can get it, he'll include it which just raises the stakes further.

Of course, which is why I am sure that he'll be trying to get that jump to be stable. He's not being punished and he knows it. If they actually nixed his Flip which isn't even a Flip, if they called his Lz, if they called his URs ... if, if, if. To be honest, I've sort of, well not given up, but here at least, you can all take it for granted that this is my opinion so I won't bang on about it. What I mean is until the panel and the judges start doing their jobs, he won't change anything and that's just that. ETA Lol ok I posted before Dara did but exactly. Of course he's trying the 4Lz at shows. Why wouldn't he?

No, no, it's all good. Just there was on the previous page the word 'chubby' and I'd rather we avoid those, considering the eating disorders history of figure skating world. As you say, she looks excellent in terms of the rest of us! Otherwise weight does affect skating and jumps no doubt and I see no problem mentioning those. Absolutely but one good thing with the change of enviorment is the change of coaches. I am very glad that she is away from Frank. The way they parted confirmed 100% to me that he is not the right person to work with her at this moment. Hopefully there is a better approach now to whatever her issues are, we can only guess, but to me they seem complex and something that will need time so I'm hoping that now she has the support to work through those.

Mmm hmm. I mean it's all well and good to be great in Juniors (I am not putting it down, it's hell of an achievement) but they are all there with the ambition to turn Senior and then make an impact. We've seen so many promising names who just slowly faded away for numerous reasons, puberty, injury, plain bad luck... It'll be interesting watching Junior ladies in the upcoming season but there's a reason why I don't get attached to Juniors

If I remember one of the older interviews, Shoma is basically following what the coach says, in music and choreography. It's why I say he has no style of his own. For me, his in/pe is good (though I prefer his GPF to say his Worlds) but I feel like he has so much potential if he just stopped being a 'puppet'. Find his own music, with help of course, there's nothing wrong with it, and I think he could show us much more. Until he does, he'll be limited to what he has now, so I'm not surprised it's more of the same, in one form or another.

While it's nice to see in principle, lets see if the girls keep those quads as they grow up. Eteri herself talked about this even in regards to Alina this past season, never minds quads.
-
Nah, I don't see this happening at all. I can totally see giving him music suggestions, cut music already, and having him pick one but a fully choreographed program? Doubt that very much. Both Shae and David are busy people and these things cost money.

Thank you so much cherry, that's brilliant! :goe: And I must say, you can tell when you watch Han skate, both of them really. Great to read some thoughts that go into making those amazing programs.
-
In more news, Sui and Han will have two new programs next season. Makes me happy as I am always greedy for more from my favorite skaters. These are supposedly going to be the very difficult programs but the best programs in their career. Very ambitious and great attitude to have going into the Olympics season. I also love reading about the attitude towards ice dance and that Han has been in modern dance classes since last year. If anyone wants to take a stab at the whole article, I'd love to read it - clicky. Google translate is not bad but still.

Uh that's kind of a risky choice but lets see what he makes of it, it's a lovely piece. (in case you're wondering why with that as their FS (+Rain, In Your Black Eyes), it was quite something) -
Yes, thank you so much cherry! Really appreciate it! :goe: SP exists on YT, in 2 variants the problem is both have the audio copyright strike. This may be the FS but I am not certain

If someone can find the pic my avatar is from, I'd be forever grateful. I managed to misplace it unfortunately. I do think it was a twitter thing, maybe during 4CC but not sure! It was definitely a photo taken during practice. Thank you!

Yes, definitely Dick Button, considering everything. I do believe Mr. Button has five and that ought to be quite satisfying.
