Yup but they do have some experience now so they should be able to adjust. It's a pretty complex science (I have friends who coach) and it literally varies from sex, to age, to particular individual in a particular sport. One thing to remember is that you can peak more than once, with one major peak planned (Olympics for him in the coming season) and that it's built on the plateau of athletic shape that can be maintained for several months where you go through the mini-cycles mcq mentioned.

Team we're fewer but still good!

The not stable bit is troubling. He's not one of my faves but if he could get that together, he could definitely be a staple name in the future. I am very glad we'll be seeing him at the Olympics because that entire thing during the Europeans broke my heart; nothing worse than to be in that type of situations so I was really happy when Bychenko managed to grab two spots for Israel by placing 10th in Helsinki so that they don't have to fight it out! -
I am not sure what all was talked about but not really, it shouldn't because peaking is achieved in a particular way and I am sure he'll make arrangements with the team in Toronto about the level of practice he needs to maintain to be at a proper place at this point in the off season, especially considering this is something that they as a team have been fiddling with the entire last season. He also has to be careful in terms of his health and I think we've seen ample proof he's learned that lesson. But shows definitely have a useful place, I do believe it was Shirota but I would have to go look, who spoke how it negatively impacted him to not do any. If he ends up doing DOI ,12 overall is not a huge number at all but the problem are the dates, so personally I hope he packs up and wraps it up with FaOI.

Shows are good, even this season we had a comment how the lack of shows was a problem, I don't remember who by any longer. The idea is to not do too much but doing them is beneficial. I do think he'll do DOI though I hope not. Then hopefully he parks in Toronto, away from everything

Ah Fay, that does suck big time :empathy: we need to push spring your way! No problem! I was wondering if she'd mention practice and yup, there we go, at the end. Of course  On a shallow note, I love her hair like this! She looks very nice, and you're right, like that next to Adelina, they do look alike!

While Plushy has his academy, Elvis Stojko is still skating as a professional and you may have heard, had an accident during SOI and had to be taken to the emergency room. I thought it must have been a fall after a jump but goodness, it was during steps, bizarre. The ice was bad, he tripped, and fell in the worst way. He's all right though and has been released since but I am glad they took a head hit seriously, that's the right way to handle it!

Guys, opened a new thread for all those who aren't active any longer, so we can leave this one to the active skaters! -
So they may not be active skaters any longer (or they've turned professional) but they have certainly left a big impression on all of us! Let's start with some happy news, yes? Timothy Goebel got married! I must say the original quadster looks good, congratulations to the happy couple! And Kiira Korpi also got married, another lovely couple and congratulations to them too! (thanks Shiro!)

The man in the big photo is her great-grandfather Ivan who died in WWII, in his tank that was hit by a bomb, (she'll be a part of the traditional remembrance walk) and the letter was written by his best friend, they are both in the little photo, about how they met, spent time and I believe, how he died. She says the family spends the day together, watches the parade, and of course, she practices!

There is an interview with Mai, post WTT posted on ISU site. Some of the bits are about next season, so I'll quote them: The ballet bit is interesting and it will certainly help her (please fix those hands Mai). I wonder what she's planning. It's a nice interview so do give it a read!

It's Victory day in Russia, so we got a glimpse of (and it truly is rotten weather as she complained yesterday, pity) and a lovely photo of her and Adelina

I was thinking about Portugal too when I heard that one! And the place where he trains looks divine. I'm more of a city girl myself but it is awfully pretty and is probably a great place to be in when you're focusing on training. Not too many people in the rink either. -
Zijun is on her way to Canada, for choreo.

Something 'safe', classical yet popular...emotional... like Mahler's symphony 5; 4th movement? He'd do it justice :,) If he's going to do Mahler, he should do the 6th. That hammer gives it a special something :s_tongue

Latvian TV made a little thing, 6 mins, about Deniss and his training. Though I don't understand a word of the Latvian parts, it's really good to see where he is training, some tiny portions of it, there's (a delightfully rumpled) Lambiel who speaks in English and has interesting bits! -
Enjoying your ice cream
-
Well, yes but people kept asking for jumps and I got tired of repeating it  so maybe we should just say they're helping him share the burden? :shifty:

Page 100, congrats peeps. I have an itch for a wedding. Lets make it to 1000 and I'll marry him to the 4Lz

Oooh bad word, bad word :ban: :rofl2: but actually yes :goe:

The Gen chat thread got me thinking about the Russian men. We keep talking about the ladies and with good reason but I wonder how it's all going to end with the men? Aliev's coming up to Seniors and if he can get his head in order, negl, I think he can kick out Kovtun who seems to be falling apart. I think Kolyada is a safe bet but of course, there's Samarin too apart from Dima. This has the potential to be equally messy.

That tries to download something to my computer..... Because your browser doesn't have the automatically run flash checked. If you're on Chrome, then Settings/Advanced Settings/Privacy and run Flash and ta-da, no more download but normal opening of the page.

They need to qualify at Nebelhorn. They probably will but yes, in the worst case scenario they might not. A journalist asked her if she likes Yuzuru not only as a skater but as a man too and she basically said she doesn't talk about that subject, personal questions. Some journalists need to learn boundaries. I am particularly eh about this because I'd say Yuzuru really doesn't like things like that so hopefully this was a one off that he will not hear about.

True that  It can be contagious which is what I'm hoping will happen. But yes, we'll see how that goes! He does dream big and wants to go back to the Olys as a coach so he'll try. I am glad Emanuel is handling Adelina's choreo and Misha I think did one of the Juniors so at least that is covered!

You made me check :rofl2: It's 3 in the WCh, and 3 in WTT FS. So 4CC had 3 as well? Well, at least he's consistent? But yes, I don't think Nam can beat him, though this Is a fair point. I actually completely forgot about him. Though IMO unless something big changes, I still see Kevin going.
-
I think Kevin. He's done pretty well for himself at Worlds, and if he could just do something about his UR problems, he would be even better. I distinctly remember 3 in the FS, those hurt.
