Patrick used to have a 4F. I don't remember who spoke of it now but apparently it looked really good. Then the whole thing happened as you know. So he might want it back now, and it'll certainly be easier considering he doesn't have to start from complete scratch. He's definitely doing a 2 quad SP so I wonder if the solo jump will be the 4F if he manages to get it. Really Patrick's real gold shot is the team event. I think that'll be one of the primary goals for team Canada anyway so I really am curious what his strategy will end up being.

Yes, Adelina is training now with Plushenko. She's trying to stage a comeback, how well that'll go is anyone's guess. The competition is fierce and with her return, it may be even more so. We have to wait and see how it all goes the first few times she competes.

It'd be something if Sota could be at the same Olympics as Yuzuru but on the other hand, I hope they are going to take great care with his progress next season. The following quad is more his, culminating with 2022, so as he's such a huge hopeful and frankly, probably the only one coming up at the moment, that is probably priority.

Who will get to PC? For the men, providing Han Yan recovers well, it seems like a no- brainer. Boyang is progressing well (it was really interesting to hear how long he trains during the day) so since he seems to be keeping the SP, there's just the FS to consider. The ladies though, now there I have no idea. Zijun seems to be in a tough spot with the Fed, her PCS during the WCh were a crime, so how all of that is going to be untangled, I have no clue. Chinese Fed may simply decide to push for a younger lady due to 2022. Sui/Han, I would say, probably their biggest gold chance next season.

Same. It's why I didn't mention her in the OP, it's more to get the conversation going. But with Zhenya the biggest question is, what does she do with the music? I was somewhat strengthened with Eteri's interview, especially when she mentioned they're even willing to bring in extra people if they get stuck because it sounds like she is at least open to things. I am sure Averbukh is pushing for some drama but it's just so risky. I am hoping they find some nice Korean music and he refuses to choreograph to it

Question - is the shipping thing all right? I know some are really not down with it, while others are, so do we leave that up or not?

Canadians have almost 3 spots in all the disciplines, and it doesn't seem to be too tense for any of it? What is going to happen to Patrick's 4F? That's certainly an interesting question. It's a quad he's had before and I admit, I'm curious to see it. The ladies seem to be doing well but Gabby, Kaetlyn and Alaine seem set. Will they up their game though. Virtue and Moir may have snagged the gold in Helsinki but it's going to be much more difficult in PC.

Wakaba is my favorite Japanese lady and I would feel terrible for Satoko too, even if she's not one of my faves, so I guess ideally, I'd end up with those two as well. It's going to be really, really difficult for Wakaba though. If she is successful with that 3A in her FS though, she is going to up her chances significantly!

The battle for the spots is about to start. Rippon is back on ice. Jason had two excellent competitions and is announcing a Hamilton SP with two quads. Max is never out of contention but may be the one who is the most impacted by the current PCS vs quad battle. If Nathan and Vincent go, providing Vincent has a decent Seniors season, who will fill the last spot? Ladies are not much better. Will Gracie make a successful come back now that she is with Marina? Is Polina truly returning? Can Ashley still hold it even with a somewhat uninspired season behind her? Can Karen repeat her Nationals title, her rep has certainly risen since saving the 3 spots. Have at it, ladies and gentlemen!

Olympics are upon us! Who is going to come out of the Russian Hunger Games, ladies style, and go to PC 2018? Has Anna buried her chances with WCh 2017 FS meltdown? Is Radio returning? Can Zagitova build up enough rep to get her PCS up by the time Olympics hit? The men are also interesting. Aliev is turning senior. Gachinski may be back. Kovtun had a massive metldown at WTT and while Kolyada seems steady and could progress further, the second spot seems truly up for grabs. Is Russian Ice Dance totally out of the game?
-
Going into the Olympics year, Team Japan has some interesting questions to answer. Do they even qualify for the team event? Nebelhorn, here we come. Who is going to be The Third Man? And the biggest of them all - which two ladies get to go forward to PC 2018? Some slight news about the ladies, Satoko is said to be resuming training on ice in May, so this month, meaning she'll have plenty of time to return to form.

Channels for Figure Skating Videos
Yatagarasu replied to yuzu.fairy's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Oh this is a great idea yuzu.fairy, thank you very much! I'd just like to add that alatarielnerwen is the one who is maintaining that massive Yuzuru playlist ( ), I've found it so useful when needing all Yuzuru videos in one place (and of course entertaining) so though I know our old GS members know of it, if new ones haven't yet discovered it, it's the only I highly recommend as it's sorted by years and by competitions within a year, then with various commentaries per competition. -
Considering it was a mental block issue, I am not surprised at all the success rate went down the drain, as that then encompassed the SP as well. I just have a weird idea that the 4Lz won't give him any more trouble than the 4Lo say did, if in fact even that much  but the 4Lo-3T is going to be interesting, if he decides to use it. That's not an easy combo but on the other hand, the 4Lo has settled really well, knock on wood.

I can easily see the 4S-3T being replaced by a 4Lo-3T in the SP in case he does the 4Lz. Otherwise, considering he loves it, I don't think he's going to get rid of it. About the FS, if he's doing the 5 quad program, and has the 4Lz, I guess it could go but I think he'd still keep the 4S-3T there. You know how he is. He stuck with it the whole ruddy season, so I don't think it'll disappear now unless he's bringing in the 4Lz.

Exactly 900 members now! Yuzuru has a lot of fans, here's hoping they all crawl out of the woodwork and join us here so that we end up having a massive, international celebration of the man. He'll be feeling some good vibes from here!

It's Yuzuru. I do think there's only so much he can bend on this matter. I am just grateful that he's so focused on his own health and making sure it's his top priority. If he includes the 4Lz though, I don't think there's going back but on the other hand, I really do not think that it'll be a problem in that case. Well, as much a new jump can not be a problem, ie it'll have the usual growing pains but I think it'll slot in there just fine.

Other Skaters' 2017/18 program announcements
Yatagarasu replied to CupidsBow's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
That Muse thing is I believe just their old FS being brought back. They'll probably revamp it a bit. -
 Um. Do you really want me to say it? If he includes the 4Lz I think we'll get the usual 4Lz, 4Lo-3T, 3A. In fact if he includes the 4Lz next season, I am willing to bet on this one. If there is no 4Lz, then your second option though do you really think he'll do the combo first? I just don't think the little monster has any regard for us so I am afraid you're going to have to flip those two around. And we still haven't touched on what the last pass in the FS might be. Or rather when I was thinking about this one too. First time in public, all attention on him and he knows it. I am sure it affected him. Which probably makes this the ideal place to try it for the first time, even more ideal than say during a show. It's still comp related but not quite. I do think he's further along too. I choked on my tea, thank you! Yes, I mean your idea is the best in terms of his new 'ideology' of raising the average. And it's a good thing to have, I totally understand why he's stuck on that one. But on the other hand, Yuzuru is Yuzuru so if the 4Lz comes, it'll come in the SP. The boy has zero chill. (lol I did not even notice those, go forth and multiply! err, well something like that, the Minister gives you her blessing)

Ahhh I feel complete now that you're here and I can rest! You forgot the downgraded half Loop in our pledge, it's distressed now, poor thing, so let me add it, in the downgraded 1Lo too :) And ... do you really think he's not going to do something crazy if he decides to include it? I am not sure he's physically capable of having a 'simple' entry. His brain would just go lol no and refuse to function. And watch the exit be into a s-e. But I just have the feeling the 4Lz itself will come along just fine. It's not like he's starting with it now.

Ah gladi! I can have more than one soulmate you know. I think the 4S is just fine now too, that WTT pop was oddness, I actually went back and took a closer look and he had trouble with the takeoff, his edge slipped almost. But considering he loves his precious 4S so much now, I'm willing to bet on a 4S repeat too, in a 5 quad layout. For the SP, if he decides to change it, then I think we'll see the 4Lz, 4Lo-3T combo appear with the 3A. Having the 4Lz in both does offer him double opportunity to practice it in competitions, which is invaluable experience really. But then if he's more for stability due to his highest average philosophy then keeping the LGC layout is better (provided of course he doesn't keep the whole damn thing). Definitely good to refute it all now. It gets the ruddy J press off his back, at least for a little while. I mean I am sure they'll eventually find other things to moan about but at least for a little while, he should be in the clear.

And I'll break the ice, until my soulmate arrives and then you can see what chaos twins create. Back to where we were before it went big bada boom, I still think that it's up in the air over the 4Lz inclusion. Especially considering the modified translation we got, in re to that interview where it definitely sounds different than just the regular no I won't. In which case, I'm still back to the 4Lz in the layout but only 4 quads. Except he seems to be intrigued by the 5 quad option. Gah. If it's a 4Lz in the 5 quad layout, would you say he'll repeat the 4S then? If not, it's a no brainer. I suppose then Li'Kitsu's idea of keeping the old SP layout does have a lot of merit, as that remains stable and it really isn't that much of a difference BV-wise.
