  1. It's the numbers. They are trying to stick to the designated numbers of so and so singles/pairs so they want to try and fit in the host into the official quotas if they can as then it fits into their money plans. They're trying to cut down on the expenses.
  2. A bone bruise is a nasty injury that lasts so hopefully! Fingers crossed. I'm cheering for Mirai too, the more time passes and we get these news, the more her decision to start working on that 3A seems like a wise choice. I do think she'll need it, considering how everything is panning out. Even if she falls, providing it's rotated fully, and her other triples are clear, she's going to reap the benefits. As always, but especially here, it'll depend on who delivers when the time is right but personally, I hope Mirai gets a good start on the GP circuit and has a nice little rep boost from it before Nats.
  3. Thank you meoima! :goe: Good grief, they sure know how to complicate matters. It really shouldn't be that hard to word this so that everyone understands it, goodness.
  4. If she can get her jumps back, she has a legit shot of getting an Olympic ticket. It's going to be interesting how these things shake out there. I think Ashley and Karen may have a slight advantage right now, Ashley especially I would think, but the third spot ... uh oh.
  5. They are hosts, so they will go even if Nebelhorn doesn't work out for them. It's in the rules. But as sally said, in case of the ladies, they have 2 spots there, regardless, thanks to Dabin.
  6. Ooooh, thank you! I wonder if this is for TV? Sounds plausible. And fab pic, they look awesome.
  7. These lists are usually fluff, and fluff that you think you can sell/can bring you clicks so I am not surprised if they're picking based on what they think is appropriate for their audience vs who might really be on top of the sport. It's how that goes.
  8. Yes, you can and just in time. The first part of the Wedding Plans is now over and please give me a day or so to edit everything properly. I'll bump the thread up and then we can then discuss phase 2 - when, what music we'll have (are we going to have a band?), you can talk outfits and all the things we need to hash out. Be back soon!
  9. beki, nah, he hasn't been practicing the 4Lo this whole season. I think they genuinely thought 2+3, clean, with his rep would be enough. And it would have been actually, had he gone clean. But his season as a whole hasn't actually been all that great, even with no change in his tech. Patrick is going to add a second quad to his SP no doubt but I have great doubts about that 4F. We'll see. I ... actually forgot about that one. Well, you do have a point there I'm certainly hoping it's the 4Lo too but then yeah, very good point. Who knows. I think it may also prove difficult as it's not a small change to go to one new quad plus one extra quad in the FS so even if he truly wants to, it may not be doable.
  10. Ah, I see, thanks. That's efficient, and very stressful! I'll cross my fingers for her. And yes, that sort of thing is pretty common I think, though at least there it's sports; in some places they have a free pass for anything they choose, which personally annoys me to no end.
  11. You need to print out, on a Russian flag - Russians for Yuzuru :rofl2: To be fair, I do think the point of the article was also about how much Japanese fans contribute to figure skating by following him (and others) around but they really could have added that in his case, it's an international audience that travels. I've sort of given up on that one though tbh, everyone seems to be skipping over those fans. At least he knows!
  12. Is this like, graduation exams for high-school, in order to graduate?
  13. Thank you! I must quote just one bit    But yes, it's quite a good article, showcasing just how important Japanese fans are to figure skating and how huge Yuzuru's influence is (though again, I'd like it if they explained the size of his international audience, who also travels all over the world to see him).
  14. I forgot now what precise number we're talking about but Misha had a huge number of requests for choreography, had to turn some skaters down. It's good to see him with Mishin's group, I think he can help out nicely there. And in other news, Zhenya posted from the airport, so she may be off for her vacation! She deserved it all right.
  15. Wow these are really pretty! And some more on their twitter account and official site. There's a video with Dai, where they are preparing I believe, shot around March
  16. Ah thank you, thank you! Italian lets me understand enough (and I kind of really like Spanish cinema) but I am never too sure about it  Then yes, I stay by my first post. I do think he's opening the door for a possible new quad here, the 4Lo. Doing an LP with 2 4S and 2 4T makes no sense, so it has to be it; he's not sure if it's all going to be possible so he's being careful about it all. I do wonder how it'll all work out for him and if the decision to not include it this past season will turn out to be crucial in the end.
  17. I don't think I've seen this here but it showed up on Twitter https://www.instagram.com/p/BTtVyAqFKTO/ So Javier is working on "more quads" (if someone who knows Spanish would be a darling to properly translate this, it'd be lovely) but this is not a priority, he considers his programs are constructed well in terms of jumps? I get that from it. Interesting in any case, frankly I do think this means he's working on a 4Lo and it depends how it'll go, in terms of including it so he's cautious.
  18. Misha was working with Nugumanova today and actually taking care of the whole group  https://www.instagram.com/p/BT3UgQVBAJr/
  19. It's certainly possible, I can see what you mean :s_yes I definitely agree with the second paragraph but my interpretation is just the above. I guess considering his studies and how he seems to be in general, and that sports science has accepted peaking long ago, I don't see him being unable (at this point, maybe when he was younger, sure) to accept how that works but fiddling with it and averages in terms of how to adjust to his convenience sort of fits better (in my head). In any case, I do wish we could pick his brain about this  ETA About the rest bit, that actually doesn't surprise me that much. From some of the talk with my friends the rest bit often goes against the grain for a certain type of athletes even when they get the point in their head!
  20. I actually don't agree with that? I think he's just more interested in averages these days, or when speaking of peaking, that plateau of athletic shape that you have to reach in order to trigger peaking. Even if you're not at your peak, but are there, then your results are still in the highest percentages, if not the ultimate highest. So I think Yuzuru's mind is going something like this - peaking is tricky to time, mine is especially tricky, but if I can be at the plateau even without the peak and have such a program that I can pull it off cleanly at this point, then my 'best of average' is enough to win. It's sort of a percentage game he seems to be playing to me, in order to up his chances. Which is something I can say I understand, as he's trying to expand his chances of winning. Basically I wouldn't say he doesn't believe in it; I'd say he's not counting on it and is trying to up his chances to win, in case it doesn't happen.
  21. Well English isn't compulsory but at the same time, it sort of is too. It's interesting how the situation evolved throughout decades but for today's communication, especially for one's professional life, it is often a must, at least at an intermediate level. So yes, a translator is nice and does offer some insulation but on the other hand, it's good to be able to communicate directly for the purposes of (dreaded but necessary) networking and work. I think Yuzuru's probably there about when not pressed by cameras and really nothing helps as immersion so I am sorry he didn't really fully use the opportunity that living in Canada offers, as it'd have made things easier for him (I am talking about tv, music, native speakers). But I am sure he'll bring it up to needed levels in the future as I don't expect him to sit quietly and knit at home after you know what.
  22. Definitely, it's one of those benefits of shows. Plus as a low-stress situation, it makes it good to ease into it all.
  23. That may not be a bad thing? I mean it depends where the 4Lz is; it isn't any more dangerous than it would be if he were simply practicing it. What I mean is at the start he does it in a harness but after that, it's simply a matter of practice so even if he does, and we know the 4Lz was around 60%, then it's fine. The trick is not to over-do it, and here we need to believe he knows his own body and limits by now and will honor them (and I think he will).
  24. Well he has grown up a lot and at some point, he's going to have to be able to restrain himself and take care of his own health, accepting this responsibility. I think after everything that has happened, and he's not a kid any longer, he is very aware of the importance of it. Having a season behind him where he didn't have any major injury has shown him just how good it is to walk out with a clean bill of health (mentally and physically), and I think he even mentioned this. Yes, I am sure everyone can get carried away and injuries sometimes happen (I mean look at Adam) but on the other hand, he's an adult now with plenty of experience, so he should be able to adjust and things like no quads at WTT Gala etc make me think that he has reached this maturity level.
