  1. Muffins...kobe beef...stuffed panda plushies (they have ones dressed as doraemon and spiderman), pooh tum tums, I mean gee we're only thanking you for translating, would electronic/digital versions work, if you can't manage the real ones? At least accept the digital versions before we try to send you the real ones. >=D @kaeryth: the way Brian said it, I guess Yuzu is going to bring the 4Lz this season. It's kind of like Yuzu and his team were hesitating whether they will add the 4Lz, and the experience at ACI more or less confirmed that Yuzu can't go with a dumbed down LP-he has to go with a harder LP, otherwise it's no fun or him, and he loses steam to fight. @Joey: I don't get the accusations either. There were standing ovations for more than just japanese skaters. Most of the clean programs got standing ovations, even from the Japanese and Yuzu fans. Haters just conveniently forgot that. A lot of the benches were more likely to be empty at times when you'd expect them to be empty- during times when people were more likely to be looking for food, during the sessions where the non-top skaters were skating, late at night to catch the last busses etc, but usually by the time you got to the final group seats were all filled. Fans are human, not everyone has the physical (butt) muscles to sit on a cold hard bench for 15 hours straight, nor the concentration levels either. This is why I get disgusted at other forums at times- yes I'm a fan of Yuzu, but I also skate, I've followed figure skating for over 20 years, it's disrespectful to dismiss that, and consider that I follow Yuzu cause he's cute (sure he is, but dismissing is skating skills is also disrespectful to him).
  2. Wait what?! O_o How did he manage to accept that tuna? Do you just dump it in a freezer or donate it out to some food shelter? Well, maybe fans can name discovered asteroids after him and his programs.
  3. But we did have the forum name and everything in the banner we hung up, so he must know our existence somehow. Personally, to me, he's more like a little brother I want to cheer from the sidelines. =) Realistically, I don't know if he's got time for the fanmail replies anymore.
  4. I am, can't wait for Finlandia too! I get this entire week off and I have 2 competitions to watch (1 JPG and 1 Challenger)!
  5. Delayed congratulations here! Yes, that's the first step, getting over the fear of jumping! After that the jumps become so much easier. Right skates do wonders. Now wait till you speak to a skate technician about depths of hollows! XD
  6. In that case, doesn't Plushenko hold a bunch of Ice shows in Russia? I think he'd take up ice shows in Russia well, since he has trained and had choreography done in Russia. I imagine if "gratitude" comes into play, he might even take up less profitable ice show invites from Canada, since maybe he feels a bit of indebtedness to Toronto. I could also see something for Spain if Javi comes into play, since I think he's sympathetic to the goals of Javi in promoting skating in Spain. Then there's the training camps and seminars that might be held at TCC or the annual ones that Javi hosts. So it's unlikely he'd fade off the planet. It was some show with Nobu and Shoma, and Yuzu said something about marrying at around the age of 25-26? But after watching him hold an iron wrong in a commercial, and our fears for him failing to boil water properly-can you imagine him trying to change diapers?
  7. Well, it seems at least he's more relaxed about it, still, requesting him to get a top 8 score in the world is a bit extreme. At least he seems okay with the challenge.
  8. It looks like a "Why am I doing this at 9 am?" expression.
  9. I thought we only needed to do that for Iphones? o_O I'm looking at event management and planning and holy, it looks different from Project Management. It's so detail oriented I think I'd puke if I have to deal with it daily. T_T Can we request Yuzu smile to brighten up the thread?
  10. Well China might invite him, even though there isn't that many big shows or rinks in China. But if China picks up the funding and decides to politically back figure skating (we have an Olympic champ, Zhao, as the president now), he'd be very welcome here. Are you encouraging me to pick up event organizing? XD
  11. *polishes her project management resume* How much of a leap is it? @Hydroblade: I wonder how hard it is to take up Japanese? It's actually memorizing the Hiragana and Katakana that gets me in the end (I'm aware this is odd since I'm a chinese speaker), the rest I find doable since I learned tad bit of Korean and grammatically I didn't find it too hard. Why are we talking about him post 2019? It's not even 2018 yet. XD
  12. I don't think Marin is going to quite fill that hole. Nationally yes, but Yuzu's international fame isn't quite matched by Marin. Especially since Marin will soon have Trusova, Kihara, You Young, Eun Soo, and Anna S. coming up. All these ladies with their quads and 3As will probably start eclipsing Marin, internationally at least. Ladies field going towards 2022 will be a crowded hot mess. That's the impression I get too. First place in his heart is the Japanese fan crowd, and I'm somewhat resigned that ACI 2017 might be the first, last and only time I'll see him live.
  13. I think they're just resigned to Yuzu R******g. But it's probably some sense of "fairness" which goes along the lines of "Yuzu has a lot of sponsors he doesn't need to hog up more space, but other budding skaters who will be with us for another 4-5 years, they need more visibility to help their financial stability, so we need magazines to promote them more." Realistically, they're right in that Yuzu has a LOT of visibility, and other Japanese skaters do need more sponsors. However it ultimately comes out as "unfair." The media drama will die down once he decides to R**** but that might be a while since JSF doesn't have many new male skaters to promote yet.
  14. So long as the rule is evenly applied, I guess we can live with it. I think it's time to unleash the feral swans on JSF Honestly, JSF needs Yuzu more than he needs them. Much as I like Japanese men's skating, I don't see any japanese male skater dominating the junior ranks the way Yuzu and Shoma did. Good think I didn't put money on that yet, I'll just live with my ice jewels and Yuzu bios. Wonder if ANA will do anything extra this season with their planes? So glad to know Yuzu is overseas, doesn't follow social media etc, this would be hard to bear.
  15. @Hydroblade : Lovely new theme! Thanks!

    Music talk

I can see this, but it'll be hard to cut. Probably as an ex. And the music is something that I think Yuzu would like, maybe not as warm up music (can't headbang to this)but cool down, or thinking music definitely. C'mon Jeff, ye who brought us LGC, make it happen! Actually I think quite a bit of Annie Lennox would work for him. On the other hand, he's such an anime fan, I'm sure he's heard of Cowboy Beebop right? So what about it FaOI: Yuzu+Cowboy Beebop "Real Folk Blues"+ Live? Hmm?
  17. I'm amazed one can jump with that thing on one's head! Doesn't it drive you off axis? o_O

I'm all for Yuzu and Stravinsky! I tried to search a bit more for classical musicians with some jazz influenced tunes, and also found a Ravel, though this one is slightly hard to choreograph around ( think Jeux D'eau is better):
  19. Hmm, unfinished concerto- there's a song called that from the anime Violinist of Hameln. But I think Boyang and Yuzu can bond over anime easily. Kuroko no Basketball is really popular in China.
  20. Yuzu listens to classical? That's new to me. I'm not sure his facial expressions exactly match my idea of classical, maybe some of the more dramatic Wagner might work, or maybe a lot of Brahms.

hmmm, but Gershwin isn't 100% Jazz. But Yuzu doing Rhapsody in blue would also work. I was thinking a variation of "Fly me to the moon" would be interesting for an EX, but admittedly I don't listen to Jazz that much, so my impression of Jazz is that it lacks the crescendo needed for figure skating. I would not know where to stick the step sequence, for example. Santana would count more as Latin than Jazz right?
  22. Lol at Brian fielding questions about Yuzu's body/physique changes.

Well now that we know what he's doing SP and LP wise this season, maybe we can start plotting for next couple seasons? Yuzu always said he wanted to try a Jazz program, so let's reignite this thread. What Jazz pieces would we recommend?
  24. Naomi Nari Nam- trained together with Sasha Cohen for a while, beautiful spinner and had lovely spirals. Too bad videos aren't very clear. On the men's side, I'm going to make a mention of Todd Eldredge, the guy could pull a spin out of nowhere. And he had beautiful soaring 3As that had wonderful ice coverage. And the guy was competing for the Olys right up to his 30's!
  25. What makes you think Jeff doesn't already have one? He has to choreograph to pop all the time for the shows. We just need to give him an opportunity to unleash the Kpop choreography, like hold a FaOI in Seoul or something, so he can rope in the boys to dance to kpop. Now for "Gee"- Yuzu, Oda, Nam, Javi, Jason, Ellijah, Guilliame, Jeff, Stephane, Johnny, Misha would work, right?
