  1. Ugh, I might end up missing it, it's right at dinner time for me, and I have to attend a business dinner. Hope for a good result because I don't want to head to saturday skating practice with bad feelings.
  2. I'm okay with Lori, and I think there's possibly a preference for her from the federation here, as she choreographs for a lot of chinese skaters. But I think the issue so far is a) she has to work with what she has in Boyang (and while his skating skills are good, he's not exactly Yuzu or Patrick level yet) and b) the music cuts were just...ugh. I would want Boyang's team to figure out a new music cut that would work with the choreography if they have time, and c) she still has to learn how to work with Boyang, and that language barrier is signficant. At this point, I wonder if they'd actually go back to La Strada and really polish it a bit further.
  3. Oh he definitely felt the laser glare directed towards him (or his medal rather). He's received it twice already, he knows what it feels like.
  4. Well, was it more coincedence though? The event in CoC wasn't exactly as he intended, but I think the entire "die or die trying" really only came into play 2015/2016, which is a season after. But he's learned after risking his career, and I think his idea that he's not even at 100% of his full potential will hopefully prevent him from going too hard on his body. He's still young, and other than Plushenko, Todd Eldredge was still competing in the olympics past age 30 (he competed at 2002 when he was already age 31) and placed Sixth! So if Yuzu lurks here, hopefully this is food for thought for him.
  5. I feel bad for the rest of the guys for the rest of this season....and to think this season this look was brought out earlier than usual!
  6. Yeah, in china it's the same. It just means "I mean serious business, don't mess with me." And Yuzu is a more figurative speaker (and east asian idioms are pretty figurative), so I don't think we should take it too literally. One line and we're all birthing kittens out of nervousness-the fate of a Fanyu.
  7. To explain this a bit further. I entered the text into a translator and it spit out the chinese for "to fight with my life's worth." It just means someone is going to fight very hard/ work hard for something. Actually, in Chinese culture, and maybe east asian culture in general, it might be worthwhile to equate "life's worth" with "pride" since the two are considered equivalent. However it's not taken as a literal, fatalistic interpretation. Merely, it means that someone is very serious about what they are putting on the line. And this confirms with what @KatjaThera mentioned, that Yuzu said that he's putting his 18 years of skating experience (and add in his pride and ideals) on the line this season, in order to accomplish his goals he's going to be working hard and fighting hard. So other men, hope you guys like perfect pancakes, cause Yuzu will be serving them. I also agree, I don't think it's as fatalistic as people think. It's just very very serious determination, and considering that staying healthy is part of his strategy for this season, I don't think he's going to go endanger his health. Otherwise, why would he go popstar at ACI? Normally, let's not kid ourselves, if it was the pre 16/17 season Yuzu, he would have gone for that 4 lz 4Lo 3F layout at ACI or die trying. He controlled himself and went popstar
  8. Nah, it's Baidu's translation, and actually in Chinese it feels more akin to "my life's pride is on the line", but then again Japanese and Chinese do not translate directly the same way. But yeah, I wonder if he'd go to Beijing 2022. There's a new system, and a new challenge (3 'peat gold potential) all up for him. Sounds lovely to him, considering his personality And I thought I was a type-A personality. Okay, before I scare people, the line is just a very determined way of saying stuff in Chinese.-"worth it even if I die trying." It's just a show of determination, not to be taken literally. No need to get a drink, I say similar stuff all the time to show people I'm dead serious about something, like "my honor is at stake here for me to finish this thing perfectly." =)
  9. The way it sounds in Chinese is more like he's putting his entire life's worth and pride on the line into skating this season. Well whatever makes the boy happy, though I hope he does consider his health too (because the way it sounds like in Chinese is a bit more "worth it even if I die trying"). We haven't seen a repeat since Dick Button, so I'm rooting for him.
  10. Do we have a music thread already? We've created so many songs based on Yuzuru, it deserves its own thread. "Once Upon a Dream", "One Day More" and now the pokemon theme. What do you think he'd say if he lurks on this forum and just stumbles across the snarky songs we made up?
  11. he is trying so hard to smile in the photo ops, lol. But we can all read the kuyashii in his eyes, so much kuyashii that no scrunchy smile can hide.
  12. @gladi: again, thank you for the translation! More tuna cupcakes incoming! ( can send normal ones if you want) I'm not surprised by his decision to use Seimei-the combination of Chopin and Seimei is what defines Yuzuru anyways. A blend of the emotionalism allowed in Western art forms (chopin), and the meditative purposeful thinking art style of the Eastern art forms (Seimei). Even if he went with new programs, I guess deep in my heart I would have wanted him to go for a east-west combo anyways. So now we know what Sunao Noto looks like? I am pretty sure he was in the volunteer food area at some point at ACI. Now we know who to look for next year at ACI to hand a gift to. Is the first guy Tanaka?
  13. We could always make a sign, explaining the swans and just let people take them out of the box. Next week is swan distribution week for me....yay, have to run to all five rinks in my city.
  14. So this month we die from an overdose of Yuzu.
  15. Yes, next goal-do laundry properly. It's one step closer to using an iron correctly.
  16. Nah, you just smile serenly and reply, ‘’Next time pack your own bags, you're 22 now."
  17. wait, I thought he was in Toronto.... that is a lot of yuzus.....
  18. I am amazed there are copies of sportiva still in stock on amazon japan. Last time I waited 2 weeks and my entire cart went out of stock.... Am I the weird one who doesn't have any yuzu on her wall? All my posters are still in their respective magazines.
  19. He'll just challenge himself by trying to get +3 GOE on the 4Lo in the SP. I hope that's motivation enough for him to not bomb the SP. Edit: wait...when did I go over 1K posts? This isn't right....
  20. Yuzu and his overthinking tendencies.... Someone needs to knock his brains out when he competes, then all he can do is rely on muscle memory and he'll replicate his perfect skates.
  21. For me it's to save up enough to see another competition next season! And I feel motivated to pick up drawing again so I can do fanarts of him-my skills are soo rusty.
  22. Well, we always say that sometimes you need external forces to motivate you to work harder and climb up the corporate ladder to earn more $$$. I guess in our case the external motivator is Yuzu!
  23. You actually want to escape from this? o_O *reports to the overloard*: she needs an extra dosing since she's entertaining thoughts of leaving.....
  24. We got mentioned in the same breath as weibo? o_O But this person forgot facebook... Well, it's nice to be a fan like this, while I still have the energy to be such a fan!
  25. Most male singles skaters are not that tall- pairs guys are huge in comparison. Yuzu isn't that tall, he's about 173 CM (5'8"), slender and very compact. He's definitely not "skinny" looking, just compact.
