  1. Why do I feel like Yuzu probably has instagram, twitter etc, just to follow other skater's video posts? And now after seeing this, do you think he'd be tempted to Rippon one of his quads?
  2. maybe he lurks in the streaming threads. But after ACI he should know us since we left the forum name in the banners and cards for him. Man, it would be awesome to dig his brains on jump technique.
  3. Okay, for you, I braved the possibility that my male coworkers would find me gawking at Yuzu (and discover that I'm human), and opened the magazine to check. I do not spot any posters. But about half the magazine is all Yuzu, with images from ACI2017, tons of UA Yuzu from TCC open media day, and plenty of FaOI photos, including a couple of nekoYuzu dancing his heart out, and the one where poohearsYuzu was handing a jacket to nekoJavi. The rest of the magazine has Shoma, but also tons of gorgeous photos of Marin, Mai, Wakaba and Kaori from FaOI. Noto-san has amazing clear photos, and tons of photos of Yuzu's face. The magazine itself is also pretty large (I would guess 11x9 or 14x11?), so the photos are quite huge. I also got the ice jewels 2016-2017 photobook by Tanaka. Also very nice, beautiful photos, but a bit more densly packed than Sportiva. Has 2 photos of his gorgeous hydroblade from Notte Stellata. Comparing the two, Ice Jewels has more MemeLord Yuzu photos, and Tanaka has a couple of photos where Yuzu is high-fiving and hugging Pooh. Noto-san on the other hand, in Sportiva, likes to use close-ups of Yuzu's face, especially smiling Yuzu. Pick your poison. IMO, both are worth it. I bought Sportiva, a season calendar, and Ice jewels off of Amazon JP, with shipping and handling and customs taxes, wasn't too bad, got them in about 4 days after putting in my order (granted, I'm in next door China). Well, considering that no guy has attempted quints yet, I imagine if that scenario were to happen, it would be after 2020, or 2022. o_O So were you dreaming that Yuzu would stay on top of the men's field even after 2022?
  4. I don't know, I think the better you did as an amateur, the more you will get paid as a professional skater since your competitive titles could raise the price you are paid per show, especially if you are also madly popular otherwise. I think he should be fine even after his competitive amateur career ends. Think about it, he's an icon of the sport itself, and will probably stay relevant for quite a while. He might also have less restrictions afterwards. If you look at Mao, she still does advertisements and endorsement deals as well as professional shows. So Yuzu will likely go on the same path- I doubt ANA will drop him, neither will LOTTE (he can probably move chocolates by truckloads around Valentine's day) even when he turns pro. He's too photogenic to pass up for commercials.
  5. @gladi : Thanks again! I just got Sportiva today, so I will be reading your translations while oggling the beautiful photos. Instead of Tuna Muffins this time, will you accept normal, strawberry muffins?
  6. I thought he grew by 2cm? When your order of Sportiva arrives at your office in the morning, and your concentration goes poof..
  7. Sounds like a legit plan. =D Good luck!
  8. Hmm, I have an outfit for work that looks pretty much like Vincent's. Is that why people think I'm a guy? Well, at least I resemble a pretty guy.
  9. Is this Ghana one photoshopped? His head looks a bit too big for the rest of the photo. Granted, he would look lovely in a red sweater and posting himself that way. Also, you're going to hit 8k soon, right? Edit: is it seriously a real photo of him? I know he's got round, narrow shoulders, but I didn't think they were that narrow.
  10. I think it was the Kuyashii+10:30 pm tiredness vs a little cute kid. English didn't help either, so naturally the little cute kid lost. Wait, was this the kid who accidentally stepped on the podium for the medal ceremony? I recall a little boy accidentally stepping up the podium to get around it. Maybe there was a little grudge there if the request came from that kid? LOL I'm totally fine with Yuzu not doing Japan Open. Heck, I'm fine with him not doing fluff competitions period after he leaves his formal competitions career. In fact, I'd prefer for him to do something similar to Machida, something like "ballet on Ice" or "Theatre on Ice" (no, not that theatre on Ice stuff in the US), where he and skaters just pick themes (like West Side Story) and just skate full productions on ice. I think he'd enjoy it, it's more artistic and allows him to explore things in a non-competitive way (hopefully he tames that side with age, it's not good for the health post age 35). It's potentially also commercially profitable-imagine him and Mao doing Mary Poppins on ice! Other than that, my dream is something similar to this, with Yuzu, Patrick and Javi someday in an EX:
  11. There were a lot of little figure skating kids sitting beside you in the reserved VIP section. If we asked the parents nicely, maybe we could of borrowed one or two for 15 mins to wave the banners? >_>
  12. I can see the next special ex by Yuzuru- Yuzuru: total request live. Submit your requests by banner.
  13. I randomly sat besides the family of Weaver and Poje, and they ended up sitting pretty much right next to us when they came to watch the men's SP. Needless to say, I was silently freaking out during the men's SP, and not just due to Yuzu's performance. I thought our hypothesis of why Yuzu always did his image training/warmup for a long time by the Kiss&Cry area, open to public view, was his silent way of fanservicing us, because he could not just run up and jog/warm up among the audience like the other skaters.
  14. The first SE was glorious, so was the Ina Baeur. Stuff of my dreams and my goals for my own skating. T_T
  15. It's not good for your blood pressure levels, heart health, and your concentration after seeing him. And your wallet and credit cards will hate you since they prefer to save rather than spend. I'm still recovering slowly, and Hydroblade has not even recovered yet.
  16. you just made me re-watch Chopin *again* this week. It's been 2 weeks since ACI ended, and I'm still gushing over Chopin (and getting to watch him live), and how freakishly adorable he is in real life. When I should be looking at work excel files. Even my team thinks I'm suspiciously spacey.
  17. What? I thought his presence itself counted as fanservice! Are they referring to all the smiles, gestures and stuff he did during the awards ceremony where he went around counting banners and waving his hands like a madman? Hey, glad to have you join us! Welcome to the Planet! Now, if you look to the far left behind you, you will find our dear local Volcano, which we've lovingly named Mt Irene. Usually the planet is calm, with no Mt Irene eruptions. The volcano though, does tend to get active around media days, new costume days, new layout announcement days, where it emits eruptions of sparkles, glitter, swans and extra poohs. At that point, usually our dear Prime Minister Pooh (the one hanging around our King Yuzuru at the rink boards) will send out care packages to our local residents. Additional information- we also have a mountain chain, called Kuyashii Mountains, which are manned for salt mining by a hoard of android bot poohs. The salt is mined mainly for the use of King Yuzuru, though to a degree he contributes to the salt pileup. Lastly, there are amazing fields of Tomatoes outside of the capital, but we do advise you to avoid the paprika fields since our King Yuzuru does not like them. We also have a lot of rinks for our king's use, additional palaces to hold to concubine poohs that King Yuzuru collected, and buildings where we have residents madly calculating GOEs and BVs. Hope that helps. Otherwise, we hope you have a nice stay here. =)
  18. Well in Yuzu I trust. He hasn't dissappointed me yet (though as soon as I saw the pop in the ACI2017 FS I kind of lowered my expectations immediately). If anyone can be stable with crazy layouts, it's him as he doesn't just throw layouts out like halloweeen candy. The usual suspects of Yata, Xeyra, Murilieum and Meioma? As soon as I saw Xeyra's BV tables, I joked (semi-seriously) that Yuzu would break the 350 barrier by or at the Olys even without a 4Lz, pefectly possible if he goes clean....
  19. Hey, welcome to the Planet! Hope you enjoy your stay here, and enjoy the pancakes we should be getting the rest of the season! Have you seen this? How many do you check off? https://youtu.be/3cdI7NX_s5c
  20. Yes, but that also requires that Nate needs to pull off a clean program to net his higher PCS scores. His layout is also more challenging. Plus, PCS scores also get marked for skaters relative to each other. So if Nate gets 9's across the board, Yuzu can probably net even higher PCS scores if he skates decently clean (aka less +3 GOEs, but no big mistakes) since Judges need to square their scores to any high scores they give to Nate. So I'm not that worried-I somewhat expect Yuzu to keep on breaking his own SR in the short this season.
  21. Hmm, so is the new program a decision made by Boyang and his Choreographer, or one made by the fed? I think if Boyang and Lori both thought "okay, let's do Star Wars" then there is hope. Ideally, I wish he would fly out to Canada before COC (or Lori is flown into China) and they get to work a bit more, take a hard look at what happened at Finlandia and see how they can refine the program a bit (or redo parts of it). Maybe in the course of their dialogue, they do decide to revisit La Strada, because after Finlandia's PCS scores, I'm sure the Chinese Fed might be more pursuaded to revisit La Strada. But seeing how Mai improved after meeting with Wilson again after ACI, I think the same can apply to Boyang. He wants to improve and make a program work, so long as the will is there it'll work out. And frankly, there are worse choices around ( I'm looking at you Averbukh and your stuff for Evgenia). I think Boyang grew both a bit taller and wider. He's incredibly slender for a northern Chinese guy. But yeah, compared to Vincent and Adam, he's TINY. And anyone think his goal is Yuzu's thigh muscles?
  22. He would need 45 PCS, which averages out to 9 on his PCS points, which I don't see happening easily. Then on top of that, he still needs to get better GOEs, but seeing his competitive track record, I don't see Nate getting perfect GOEs anytime soon. Has he ever received +3 GOEs on any jumps? My memory is that he has not, but could be wrong. As for breaking Yuzu's SP-I think Yuzu would break his own SP WR before he allows another guy to break it. And then if another guy breaks his WR, he'll just go and break the new guy's WR all over again. That is him in a nutshell.
  23. This is an interesting chart for those who think that current skating is all technical and no PCS. If you look at the chart, Javi, Patrick and Yuzu are fairly 50/50 on the BV and the PCS, and what tips the scale to TES is really the GOE scores. However if you evaluate GOE scores as indication of the skater's overall package and polish (which affects the overall artistry and feel of the program), then you could argue that at least half of the top 6 have a good solid balance between the art and the technique. Among the new guys, Shoma has a decent balance too, and only Nathan in the FS has a very BV based lean in the scores. So again ISU, what the F*** are you guys so worried about? These charts indicate that most guys are actually decently balanced between BV (pure technique with no polish in consideration) and PCS.
  24. I think the 4Lo is more likely, because that SE sandwich and entry is more doable for a loop jump. I want to try that entry method someday! Then again, he might go besti-4lz-SE, or straight-line right forward SE-4Lz-SE I'll just sneak peeks at my cell phone during the dinner, and get scolded for being unsociable.
