  1. Yep, that rule would fuel the quad race even more. And pointedly, establish the 4T and 4S as the gatekeeper quads for the senior men. Anyways, reposting an old set of hypos here: Let's see how many more hypos need to be tested.
  2. Possibly, and also heard that they have a nice rink, one of the best in the US, on campus. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ingalls_Rink
  3. You mean move it to random thought theatre? I'm on board with that.
  4. Oh dear, I think you missed an old post of mine, where Coach Yuzu has a SS exercise that utilizes all the pooh plushies. It's called the "flower girl/boy exercise" and involves young students picking up a massive amount of poohs in record time, while avoid being hit. The ice rink becomes a batting cage, and students are allowed at max 10 crossovers the entire time, but free to use counters, rockers, brackets and other complex steps. The firing rate of poohs is at the speed of about 30 poohs/sec and sustains for about 5-6 minutes. Very few students of Coach Yuzu manage to survive this exercise unscyathed.
  5. Students have the option to do a counter-3A, a spread eagle 3A or a twizzle sandwiched 3A.
  6. Just be glad he doesn't try to sell cosmetics yet. He could always sell sun-tan lotion for P&G....record sale of sun-tan lotion incoming.
  7. I feel like this could be a thread all on its own- fans trying to sort and psychoanalyze Yuzu, only to be completely thrown off and him coming out as Hufflepuff with a Pooh Onesie, and he declares that his loyalty are to the bees (as they make the honey that feed the poohs in the forests).
  8. That software that IDs age and sex-did we feed enough Yuzu photos to that system so the AI can now self-correct when it see something resembling a Yuzu?
  9. I'm amused by us trying to psychoanalyze him. What will likely happen is that we'll all argue that he's gryffindor/slytherin with a side dash of Ravenclaw. Then one day, Yuzu will say "Oh, I took the sorting hat and I'm a hufflepuff. Yeah, bees are kawaiiiiii~~~~" Based on the general briefing in the basics page, I'm inclinded to say Gryffindor Prim+Ravenclaw secondary, reminds me more of a young Dumbledore (whom I consider almost the same blend). It depends on whether you judge Yuzu based on his overall character package, or just what he displays in ice skating alone. The part that struck me was how they described the ambitious, goal driven vision of a gryffindor (http://sortinghatchats.tumblr.com/post/123207613877/on-gryffindor-primaries) : This is Yuzu in a nutshell. There is nothing un-ambitious about Gryffindors, for example young Dumbledore. But despite all that ambition, part of the reason for the results, is for a final goal that isn't narrowed to just personal accomplishment-there is a vision there, even if its misguided. For young Dumbledore, it was "for the greater good"-and the flip side for Grindlewald was perhaps (slytherin like), for "my people to live safely." I think perhaps where I view Yuzu, is that he has a larger goal to a degree, whether it is one he had as a child, or even one he picked up along the way, but to win OGMs is as much a goal as a method to getting accomplishing a goal/ideal. While I would not argue he is utterly selfless, he's not quite the selfishness level that the Slytherin primary goes. He is ruthless in getting to his goals, but like the quote above, that ruthless bit is directed towards himself, and not towards others (which requires a touch of apathy that I find lacking in him). How ironic that we're discussing deep, psychological insights into Yuzu in the sorting hat system, while staring at images of him peddling a razor.
  10. Far far away in Japan...a bunch of Ojisans wonder why all their razors look the same (and wonder why their wives suddenly gave them expensive razors).
  11. I don't know, but my experience indicates that it's easier for people who have some FS background to like Yuzu, even if they don't end up as die-hard fans. I can sit and talk with my mom for hours about choreography and artistry, and why we or myself thinks one skater is better than the other. In this case, my mom was the one who used to tape me at times when I took skating semi-seriously as a kid. And I can fangirl over technique with my rinkmates. But with people who don't really have a background in FS of any sort, they tend to run out of attention when I show them stuff. =(
  12. Oh better yet: Seimei= Slytherin, especially OG 2018 version Chopin= Ravenclaw LGC and R&J 1.0= Gryffindor H&L= Hufflepuff (something about plants, nature and herbology)
  13. Ah, when the snake and the lion shake hands on it together, great things happen. (*We hope-while our hair gets collectively sacrified*) On a side note, looking at the wikipedia page for the asian paper wasps that Yuzu researched in Summer, how the heck are these things cute? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polistes_chinensis They eat catepillars, have a subspecies that is considered invasive in New Zealand, and eat their young. o_O Yuzu, these things are not cute. Bees maybe, but not these wasps! (I'm have a "Yuzu, are you freakkin' Luna Lovegood?" moment)
  14. There are coaches nearby in Hackensack, NJ. He or the coach would still have to travel, but Hackensack does have Victor Petrenko, Morozov, and uncle Bychenko. East coast US does have decent coaches, though most of the recent champs have come out from west coast.
  15. Yuzu and his trolling nature is very very gryffindor. Seriously, Yuzu is about 30% Gryffindor, 30% Slytherin, 25% Ravenclaw and 15% Hufflepuff. I actually see him more like Dumbledore, which is why he's such a borderline case.We have to differentiate between Yuzu's "on ice" persona and his "off ice" persona. He is very very slytherin+ravenclaw when it comes to skating; but his off-ice persona is much more gryffindor+ravenclaw. Capable of doing nasty stuff for "the greater good" (like breaking a rules system), competitive as heck, but remember that he chose to continue skating not just out of love for the sport, but also because he felt like he "owed" something to the region that raised him. That last bit is what I think will put him in Gryffindor in the end, rather than slytherin. But it's the combination of Gryffindor determination, with Syltherin cunniness that makes him a force to be reckoned with. And why we are having this debate. I think in the end, Yuzu would chose Gryffindor (the gold in the house emblem being a key factor). But I also think he's more "soft" than most Slytherins from the books or movies. The way he deals with competition is confident, yes, but not ruthless-and I think ruthless is a factor in slytherin. (*as an aside, I was split between gryffindor and ravenclaw, but most people who know me would place me in Gryffindor-yep, I'm very very Hermione or Dumbledore-ish*)
  16. ...you make him sound very hufflepuff...
  17. we all think Yuzu plans, and then he reveals he decided his layouts for olys on the morning of comp. I would argue that while he has a large goal, he ends up being more random than premeditated. His attitude towards competition and rivals is different from others, and I would argue lean more towrds Gryffindor.
  18. Are people forgetting that Dumbledore is Gryffindor? One of the most cunning minds in HP, and almost went down the path of evil. Yuzu is a mix of gryffindor and ravenclaw.

    Music talk

Okay, got myself my project for the next few days- come up with compilations of music/music cuts for Yuzu, assuming one day he decides to lurk in this thread and peruse the music choices we have. First up I need to get taiko drum music, and maybe some nice koto. Classical...hmm, he does chopin well, maybe some Brahms or maybe some of the Russian Romatics. I wonder if Tchai's Piano concertos would work, or even some of the lesser known Rach?
  20. ...a hawaiian fruit bowl-I never knew watermelon and pineapples could inspire something this...fascinating.
  21. Rewatching H&L, the thing that stands out the most is that stsq and the lead to the 3F. Compared to so many other programs where you can tell where the StSq starts and ends, you can kind of catch when he starts the stsq but that 3F just makes you wonder where it ends. It just flows from StSq to 3F and onwards. There's just nothing like that in the programs of the other men. Then there's the ChSq, and here I'm a bit more partial to Seimei's. He just does so much in that ChSq, where it always feels like a throw-away element from others.
  22. I got seimei, but thankfully there is nothing dramatic af about me. =)
  23. Is it okay if fans reverse troll him in tge questions?
  24. If ANA indoctrinates new employees with Yuzu, does Toyota indoctrinate new employees with Shoma, and JAL with Marin? Seriously though, ANA really does *love* him a lot.
  25. Just...so many IG posts now with him, so it seems he's healing better now. And maybe he's also loitering around the rink as a technical assistant helping guide new skaters? We're happy, reassured cacti....the warning that the off-season is scary, now feels like a lie.
