Wow, so maybe he can do ice shows this summer even with rehab. Just commentator or interviewer role. Maybe they can do episodes of "behind the show" where a guide gives a general peek into the making of the shows. In which case, Yuzu can totally participate and ratings for just that segment alone will probably shoot through the roof. *but someone will need to make sure he doesn't try to tie on boots and jump onto the ice* This is such a nice gift for him, if that's the intention! Go Asahi! So if we're talking about those who influenced him, do we get choreography by Jeff, Nanami and Shae, will Shae skate, will Brian and Tracy skate? He pretty much made a list in his book.

I think FS is more likely too, but who knows >_> *sigh* let's not go there, I want my hair to stay on longer. But then again, like Brian's expression in that interview, "That would be amazing..."

....Imagine the men having a dance off. Yuzu, Boyang, Mikhail would all get into it. Cha would initially resist but end up being dragged into it by Yuzu. Shoma would try to resisit and either a) successfully fall asleep or b) cave in after half an hour. Nathan would just shake his head from the boards.

Um...I think Alice (aka the-real-xmonster) on Tumblr already had an SP layout for Yuzu that is almost all axels. Since he could theoretically do Nessie and a 3A pass. However, realistically Yuzu no longer has a 2A. So I uh, put a layout for him. Under spoilers because I don't want to scare people. And um, if a certain person does lurk, no, this is not recommended, unless you really want to kill your fans. You do care about us don't you, or were all those thanks in the books lies?

Well considering when he tried that...was that before 15/16 off season? I'm now soo suspicious of that look he gave when they did that projection of his 4A. I guess he figured out the height already, but I think he might have had trouble with the distance calculation. A certain glee that he was so close to being right....

Well my quad ladies and the salarymen quads came out after Rostel, and there was a reason I inserted that Hanyu had been pursuing lady 4Lz for 3 years. My guess is off season 2014 he started the work on 4Lz, and I guess maybe 4A was started summer of 2016. He might not have been serious but he started the preparations for it perhaps? It would fit with the timeline, of about 2-3 years per new jump, though that makes me want to strangle him if true (boy, you just healed in summer of 2016 and you go up and do what for fun?!). But going with that timeline, I think perhaps he won't really show it until 19/20. Unless he actually started in 2015 and we just don't know it....

I think I know what you're talking about, and where it came from. Don't worry, there are more credible sources that compare Yuzuru to Curry.

Uh guys, let's not mention that place. =) Less said the better.

The more I see that Seimei bow, the more I love it. It matches so well with his sleeves. I think those are just flourishes he adds himself, maybe a choreographer was consulted, but I would almost consider it normal for him to adjust it himself if someone said a bow didn't match.

Let's talk about more cheerful stuff. Like summer projects....

Let's not bring it up...it happened while I was a lurker, and I even joined that place in order to defend the video. But it happened so fast, it was gone within a few days (a day) of me signing up.

It depends on his goals. If he suddenly gets that random idea that he wants to land a 4A on Olympic stage, then we better grab our wigs and get ready for the wild ride. He's very forward thinking of what he wants in terms of his skating, but I don't know if he's completely crystal clear on everything in terms of life goals. Originally Sochi and PC gold were his goals since childhood. To a degree, other than 4A, he's fulfilled many of his essentials childhood goals-granted we don't know the full list, so maybe there's more. But he could come up with new goals now, or even after 4A is done in competition. Completing one goal begets bigger goals sort of. I think the quote of "not needing to worry about Japan's future" might be more in reference to worlds. I think at that point, even before Olys, he knew there was a very high possibility he could not do worlds this year. So perhaps Shoma winning the Silver gave him comfort that he really did not have to push himself and possibly ruin his future health by pushing worlds. Another idea, is what if he leaves for a season or half a season or not do full season runs in the GP circuit for a while, but comes back fully by 21/22? Similar to what Plushenko did in the runup to Vancouver. He doesn't have anything to prove anymore (I hope), so for him it's more about what he likes (skating, competing, Nessie, making the impossible possible), and he's still the biggest threat in Men's, at a pace that he wants and dictates. Looking at the junior men now, I think we've hit a plateau of sorts on the technical side (unless someone magically pulls out a quint), so I think technically, Yuzu's fine, just a bit of polish and he's good to go. Junior men in general has been a bit blah these days. I think other than Artur Danielyan (sp?), and maybe Torgashev and Grassl, the rest haven't impressed me too much. I want to see good 3A's especially since 3A may take on greater importance in the future.

First off, a huge thanks to @gladi! I bought the book, flipped through it (it's so gorgeous, just get it if you can), have no idea what I'm reading, and will be utterly reliant on translations from Gladi and Co. You guys Rock! Second...I nearly cried reading the translation, at work during lunch break. With a ridiculous side grin on my face. I know he's not an idol, and will never be one, but perhaps he'll allow us to call him "beyond Idol"? This seems more fitting than mere "idol." Third, it's pushing the urge to do a fan project over the summer, a nice one for welcoming him back from injury. =) A very huge Okaeri for him.

It makes the fact he wants to keep skating even after his golds that much more heroic. Knowing there will be criticism everywhere, but fighting on for skating. Edit: and it makes me dislike anti's even more.

US colleges also allow you to enter later. Or at least that was the case when I studied there. So Nate could take his tests for college now, apply, and go in a year or 2 later after clarifying with the college probably. His special condition can't be unknown considering how many cereal boxes he appeared on. =)

Grand Prix assignments and how they work
Xen replied to sublimeskating's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Regarding this, @yude already posted this at the other place -
I thought it was going to be cut down? Wasn't there a show where Japan's own judge said explained about how Yuzu's 4S could have gotten a +5 GOE under the new system, and then went into details about why other feds supported the time change? So it was more in line with other events? Well I'm all for keeping that extra 30s for all the pretty choreo sequences.
-
I think Brian's complaint was that the 4 minutes is more draining on stamina than the 4 min 30 seconds version, especially since they are eliminating 1 jumping pass; skaters just have to execute more jam packed programs well. In Yuzu's case, the fact his jumps are already somewhat tightly packed makes it possibly easier to adapt, not the case for many other men who have longer setups and worse landings.
-
a) think the time reduction and the GOE range change are confirmed. But the cut Bauer and Hydroblade are just my personal guesses- jjust one, not both, due to the time spent in Choreo Sequence. b) But like @CupidsBow stated, Yuzu will probably find a way to put them in. And if as TR, I would like to recommend a 10 for it. =)

LoL, can you PM me the link? I hope afterwards people bothered to check the source at least. =) Personally I don't care about credit, but I am a bit pissed that this got used as Anti-Hanyu fodder. Which is bad on two counts- one is that it's a misinterpretation of what I translated. Two is that it's a misinterpretation of Zhao Hongbo, which is a pretty big deal since he's the head coach for team China. I really don't want people to get the impression that Chinese Skating Fed (as indicated by their head coach) is dismissive of Yuzu, because frankly, they're not. This in fact, is one of the reasons why I bothered to watch and translate it initially-let the crowds judge for themselves after getting the full context (because chinese is a language heavily dependent upon context). I'm still amazed people want to use Zhao as anti-Yuzu fodder. C'mon, think for a second. Zhao is the head coach of the chinese team, he is the face of Chinese skating, so highly likely no freakin' way he'd go anti on anyone. If anything I thought Vincent Zhou fans would be most offended, because Zhao just refers to him as "USA's Zhou" when Vincent Zhou himself pretty well known in China (possibly more than even Nathan) due to his fluency in Chinese. Realistically, coaches, ex-athletes themselves are highly unlikely to not credit or outright dismiss competing skaters, especially skaters who won. They know how hard the sport is, and how hard it is to stay on top. It's the critics who have never competed in figure skating in their lives who tend to do that (not all, but definitely some). The interviewer was not a Fanyu-far from it. From the way he talked, he seemed to have just collected random bits and info from online forums, baidu bars etc dedicated to Yuzu. I've checked into several baidu Hanyu bars, and I'm not...impressed? Yuzu does come off as an unapproachable diety in there at times. Slightly off topic:

...Over the summer, I mentioned Zigeunerweisen (aka strawberry 2.0) as the Olys LP. Thankfully I was wrong. No Bieber please. Hip rolls to "Hello I love you" could work (thought it may result in mass fainting), but not Bieber. No no no. But now you gave me an image of him trying Gangnam style in sunglasses as an ex stuck in my head. How...?!

...o_O well I hope my translation helps. I would be happy if people actually bother to read the original Chinese/English translation here to clear up misunderstandings. =) There's a part of me that is slightly surprised that people who understood Chinese thought Zhao was bashing Yuzu. Zhao doesn't really wax poetic about Yuzu's skating, but he does speak a lot about Yuzu's mentality and dedication to figure skating. And frankly, that's what Zhao thinks is most important as he mentions mentality a lot. Psychological state, and preparations and how it must be built up over time, and is the crucial ingredient to winning. Techniques, artistry are all things that skaters can gain over time, coaches and teams can help. But psychology is something that is dependent on the skater him/herself-this is why he said going through one Olys is a rite of passage, it's something that no coach, no matter how he and Shen tried, could really prepare people for. Well, if Hanyu fans only like skaters who never won over him, we have a long list to choose from. And there's a good cross section of fans who like Javi, Patrick, Daisuke etc. I think that antis just can't comprehend how a figure skater can become so popular, and need a small pet theory to feel better. =)

Hmm SC+COR if NHK goes to Shoma. There's just so much about IDF that I am mentally rebelling from considering the possibility. But if they must invite him and he must go, they better have proper medals and proper ice!
-
My guess is that COR would timing wise work well for him, with recovery time after his healing period. But some part of me still suspects that NHK is Yuzu's if just for sentimental reasons. For CoC, if I think about it, my guess would be Boyang, Vincent Zhou being the primary competition, possibly Mikhail Kolyada gets an invite, maybe Aliev too. Now the question is....where will Yuzu go to get his traditional first GP silver? (joking, but it's so normal for him, it's kind of odd if that pattern doesn't hold)

Grand Prix assignments and how they work
Xen replied to sublimeskating's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
We should get the schedule up and then start looking at speculations. Short of skate America, I think the other GPs would be happy to invite him (if nothing other than economic reasons). I'm also curious about skate canada possibilities, but my first feelings were COR might want him back. Same with IdF if Javi seriously does not compete on the GP circuit (but I'm dreading the possibility of plastic coasters and subpar ice).
