Yo, Disney! Get on it and make pooh soakers with Edea. Or a Pooh special edition of the Piano boots!
-
Yeah, but he did do a (forgot jump)1Lo3S1Lo3S combo in the practice rink right in front of Nathan too...
-
He probably is off painkillers. And the quote from Brian is that Yuzu is back on ice to just "maintain" the feel for the ice, not jumping or full out practice. He can do simple stuff, like gliding, maybe some turns on his left feet to ensure his sense of balance is kept on well. Check his form/posture/lines etc. The key is not to tax his right ankle. Edit: just edited to add, it really doesn't matter which ice rink he's skating in. It's better for his privacy if they don't reveal it even if they know.
-
Today's practice with coach: I didn't know there was a thing called straight backward gliding. What is this thing?! How do you skate on flat edges? Or nearly flat edges? Coach: for the next couple weeks, let's just get your gliding basics fixed. It's a bit embarassing for your level. You should be using your knee bend more, not just pure leg strength. Me: But on the other hand, I can already tell there's a slight speed pickup. Now to get the control to the level where the speed pick up isn't going to freak me out (and accidentally run over my coach), and work out a bit to get more thigh strength, because my thighs tend to feel exhausted the day after 2-3 hour sessions.

Not sure if anyone else here is an Uncle Kurt fan. Came across this video of him doing amazing bladework on pond ice-which is less smooth and more taxing. (seriously though, it's just because I'm in awe of Kurt's footwork and SS):

High speed StSq4's incoming. *drool*
-
Stroking exercises...baby steps to get stamina up and get a feel for the ice. I'm terrified and excited by how good his edge control could be, in case he really just does nothing but those TCC SS exercises as part of his "recovery".
-
Well he might not join the first 2 GPs IMO under the new system, since he might want to see how the new rules pan out. Right now, stamina build up first=more efficiency for his jumps, since I don't think he'd agree to sacrificing transitions or steps or choreography for jumps. Of the guys, he might be the only one to go 3//4 with 7 jumps, I think the other guys will likely go 4//3. And actually Yuzu was smart- he didn't do anything at the practices that would give people an idea of how injured he was. He went for his cleanest jumps and nicest jumps in practice, so nothing he did appeared different than a fully healed Yuzu practice. Icing etc are all normal routine work for skaters and competitive athletes. Sure, people could hypothesize that he was still not fully healed due to that, but maybe about 70-80% back (which was our guess), when in reality he was what less than half back? It was a superb demonstration of mental chess. Staged to perfection.

Oh man...this could be a super fun EX. The other one I was thinking of was "The Sorcerer's Apprentice"- would be amazing if we could get an EX where BOrser and his team of TCC boys skated to it together. Think about it. Ci @WinForPooh: Actually speaking of 4A's...wait-is that our Prime Minister Pooh doing 4A's? I guess PM Pooh is doing the pre-course training and then will be transfering his knowledge to Yuzu, a la Naruto mode with the shadow clones? o_O Also, it's great to hear he's kind of back on ice getting the feel for stuff- guess in Sendai though since he's probably still in Japan? Though I hope he really did not go jump happy.

Wonder what music will be used for the short and long. Were Shae and Jeff the choreographers? Is pooh a new quadster, what quads can Pooh senshu jump? My hunch for Pooh's layout are 4lo 4T 3F// 4S3T 4S 3A1Lo3S 3A2T 3Lz, but we have never seen his avg GOEs before....

Team we're fewer but still good!
Xen replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
Thanks for the clarifications Altie! I am guessing that the gofundme campaigns would not be allowed. And well, coasters or stars or not, a first place is a first place. I also don't doubt the enthusiasm of the volunteers. But bashing aside, I'm wondering if DG is part of the reason why sponsorships and funding is an issue? I mean, if I were going to be a corporate sponsor, and I knew some of the information just floating around, and the fact the guy who runs this fed was involved in the 2002 scandal, I'd have second doubts about my sponsorship. This is in addition to the issue where they didn't get back to sponsors to explain the cancellations last time which I've heard about. Which was why I was really surprised he's still in. Anyways.....I hope things change. I really loved french skaters growing up. They are probably one of the last remaining powerhouses in western europe. -

...I'm honestly amazed France has any skaters skating for them. That's patriotism on a whole different level. But if this continues too long, I can see a lot of french ice dancer or pairs men trying to get out of the system, and where will that leave French ice dancing? So in short, unless ISU steps in and does something, DG is set for life. This I guess, explains a lot about the issue with the coffee coaster medals and stars at competitions in France. Gods, I feel bad for france, and it's a miracle there are still good skaters from there. A part if me finds it super hard to believe DG used to do figure skating. Really, as someone who has gone through the system, how hard is it to understand the athletes who compete in the same area as him, and what support is needed? And really, if I were a corporate sponsor, why would I want my brand to be associated with this type of person? No need to ask about why funding is a problem. I was wondering why I barely hear anything of Peizerat anymore, not even on coaching which I thought would have been natural considering how good he and Anassina were. Well that explains that. I guess non of the French skaters are allowed to do individual gofundme campaigns? Because I won't mind handing money directly to them, but really don't want to hand it to DG and Co. -

Reading the replies for that tweet, Gwendel Peizerat tried to run for President of the French Fed, and lost? How the heck did that happen? Honestly, good for Bruno that he did manage to finally move to a fed that bothers to feed him. How do you expect your skaters to skate if you starve them? o_O -
Um, hey guys, can we take all the layout talk to the general skating chat? If you place it there, I'm sure someone (*ahem me*) will be happy to run them through the fisk8 app for BV evaluations. =) Let's keep all the layout-related hair loss to that thread, please.

If there is a hole for you to stick your lure out of, even if it's a vertical one, with a golden Pooh lure, it should be fine. I mean, one GOAT likes to stick his head in even through vertical holes in boards....\(=_=")/ Given that specific GOAT's extra/alien properties, you won't even need to find a spot, he'll find you more like it.

Well to the OP: We know he's a Boyang fan, and the recent Olys interviews have him spearheading a 1-man campaign against Boyang erasure in the media. But it's pretty well known that he likes Boyang's jumps (and Boyang has always looked up to Yuzu). So to start off this Boyang-Yuzu mutual fandom love:

But what if my heart is saying "fluffy Pooh soakers to match my stuffed pooh keychain charm!" It not yet exists. Honestly I want one of those giant fluffy soakers like what Yuzu was using. but with pooh at the front.
-
See here Disney, here's your chance to expand into figure skating by providing pooh soakers. Or edea, go sign a partnership with Disney and make Pooh soakers. It will fly off shelves. @kaerb: and here I am, a female figure skater studiously avoiding all the fluffly pink or magenta soakers at my pro shop, digging through shelves to locate the one lone green soaker. When mister extra just goes whatever, and follows up a magenta/pink/fuchsia rose print soaker with a leopard print one with gold bows.

@ralucutzagy and for those who are wondering what Yuzu's PC LP might have been, and if you have to use math against some what-ifs that still seem to be on-going He may not have broken H&L record, but boy, if he went perfectly clean, he was very very close, to seimei 1.0 record, if not beat it outright. Fully clean with lv 4 stsq would have netted him at least an additional 11 points if you just factor BV and GOEs, which would have made his winning gap even larger.

Yeah, I'll try that. A part of me is thinking it's time to change the entry method. (that's actually how I used to think of my flips-it's like a salchow just with a toe tap...) I learned the Sal going from a back 3 turn to mohawk entry. Then after not skating for a while, I'm back to a normal 3-turn swingy entry. Rinkmates says the mohawk one generates more power for the jump, but you need to be really good at checking, and the speed for the snap up launch is faster. Hmm... decisions decisions. I also want to try a rolling 3 turns entry, hehe, and probably fall flat on my face. I've recently been trying RFI bracket to waltz jump, and have been nudging a rinkmate to do counter, or a back 3 turn Axel.
-
Note, they are *gold* bows, and the fluffy soakers are also a nice shade of golden yellow (ochre yellow if you want to be exact). Super extra soakers for the super extra skater.
-
No, still single sals. Just not happy with my height and distance. I haven't practiced Salchow jumps recently, so they're going back to tiny status. But I need to get my height and distance back up if I ever want to aim for doubles. T_T

That kind of begs the question, what's the point of a 0 or +1 GOE then? Especially if SO, Two foot etc require an automatic neg GOE. You might as well consider those 2 points in GOEs non-existent. And besides the point, the issue is judges tend to just reward automatically GOEs on quads for certain bullet points, such as height, speed and distance, regardless of the jump height, simply because it's assumed a quad jump would require more of all three (and here I thought it had to be standout compared to the other jumps of the same difficulty). Judges also seem to see more "good flow on exit" than I do. And while Lakernik didn't say about ties to BV, it seems that Bianchetti is the one who mentioned the ties to BV? So which is it? I think if they don't automatically tie it to GOE, with a BV deflation it might balance out to be almost 50/50 TES/PCS. But if you tie it to BV...checking my data, the final difference between jumps in TES is even higher. And I don't think it'll discourge guys from going for risky jumps...they will drop their lowest value jumps, and I guess for some it's the 4T. The difference is enough that in order to do well, men's have to have a consistent, stable 4T and 4S at least. It also devalues the 3A so I'm not happy considering how many guys can do quads but still fail a 3A. If anything, I'd keep the 3A value the same, and deflate the other quads a little bit. This makes at least 1 triple jump quite viable.

Hmm I know I've suggested it before, somewhere, some of the pieces I'm putting here. 1) Music from The Constant Gardner, specifically "Kothbiro" is too pretty to pass up. : https://youtu.be/L48PCisRZ7s 2) Ambus from 10 sides. It's Chinese, but Japanese and Chinese instruments are fairly similar, it has enough content here that 4 minutes edit is doable: https://youtu.be/Mk1fcoD5p5A 3) @theblingmonster I've mentioned music from "The LIttle Prince" movie, it's very light-hearted, and almost completely unlike what he's been skating to. But on a darker note, Danny Elfman's music from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-whimsical, heavy, dark. And well, Yuzu has done commercials for chocolate before....Alice in wonderland music from Elfman could work too, but since it's Alice, I wonder if more likely a female skater would pick it. @Sombreuil: I like V/M enough that after their Tango De Roxanne this Olys, I don't want to see it again. Let this warhorse die a nice, peaceful, good death whereby it at least achieved an OGM. Yeah....*waits for every dance team to ignore that* But tangos...there's Assassin's Tango, Tango de Santa Maria, Tango de Los Exilados, then all of Astore Piazzolla, let's see how badly this could get butchered. Which tango do you think could replace Roxanne as the new Warhorse tango?
-
"Why is there this round thingy nudging me at the knees.." *looks down* "O_O Don't look now but I think I see a head that resembles our defending OGM."
