  1. I feel like a range of 109-111 on his SP might be a good one to consider feasible and obtainable with the new Chopin. By the way, the same calculations using a 4Lz with 0 or 1 GOE give a lower/similar score than the version with a 2.43 GOE 4Lo.
  2. It is and can be much higher. But if we're going by the argument that Chopin 3.0 might make the judges more conservative with its scoring because of the repetition or lower tech, I was wondering how much a clean performance might eventually be underscored. Even with lower GOEs than his record score, it can still feasibly surpass 110.95. Not by much, yes, but a clean Chopin 3.0 can't be much underscored, unless he starts suddenly getting +1 GOE only for most of his jumps.
  3. Because a little math always helps things, I decided to take up the NHK 2015 Chopin performance as a basis, as it was the first time he used 4T3T, it was mid season and no one was throwing GOE and PCS candies around, then added in the GOEs that Yuzu got this season for 4Lo and spins (from GPF or Worlds), as well as the PCS from GPF 2016, the closest he got to clean last season. Also, a reasonably low 3A SP score. I also used the GOE he got back in NHK 2015 for his Chopin Step Sequence. This was the result It's not 115, indeed, but it's not TOO bad. Edit: Comparison while using NHK 2015 PCS and GPF 2016 PCS
  4. Boyang will be landing the 4A soon just so he can still meet the Axel type jump requirement of the FS without having to settle for the triple.
  5. Well, I guess the good point is that he's adulting more now instead of being extremely stubborn. So yeah, as long as he's good with that decision for himself and 4T3T in the second half is his 'goddammit, I'll get this done one way or another' attack decision for his SP in replacement of that darned 4S combo, then I'm perfectly okay with it. It's not like 4T and 4S BVs are that different. Edit: Plus might be the safety of a trusted combo makes him consider 4Lz more.
  6. One thing that's been said that makes sense in the idea of a safer, even if slightly underscored comparatively, SP is the fact that it'll keep him in later order in the FS. At this point, even a layout without 4Lz, as it stands, would still be higher in tech than Patrick or Javi's, so he'd score above them, everyone going clean. Boyang can still increase his BV but he's not going to get many PCS points quite yet, even (and maybe especially because) repeating Spiderman. Nathan and/or Shoma are the ones with the higher BV and competitive PCS that might eventually surpass Yuzu in the SP standings but it'd still keep him in top 3 standing. It's a strategy. Not sure if it's the specific way he and his team are thinking, but it's a valid strategy. The FS, though, will be decisive in any case. So I'm glad he's gotten a better feel for his FS and his stamina this past season. It's going to be very important.
  7. I agree the 4S3T in the SP ended up being a mental block and so I understand avoiding it. But I can't help but think that it must feel like a defeat to Yuzu, one of those walls he just couldn't climb through. I am happy, though, that it seemed to become less of a problem in his FS by the end of the season, so he doesn't lose confidence in the combo entirely. In the combo and in 4S itself. I hope he returns to it in a future SP post-Olympics, where the pressure might be lessened.
  8. Well, technically, if he can skate it clean-ish, and land that combo consistently, it won't give him more trouble than LGC in terms of points because failing the combo was the death knell on his scores before. He can go back to 100+ scores with a safer program and layout to prepare himself for a riskier FS, for example, regardless of whether judges aren't fond of the three-peat Chopin. He can't be TOO underscored. He might not be scored high enough to break his SP record, though, and others might catch up to him, but at least it'll help him keep himself from falling too far down and have 10 point differences in scores going into the FS.
  9. I think it's interesting this 'Prince'-ness attributed to him in Chopin. His Chopin SP can be both beautiful and calm but also intimidating and commanding. So it's not a traditional prince-ness in the program itself. I suspect it may be visually informed more than program informed, and his outfits in that program may play a role in that perception. Now, Prince-ness I feel very well in his LGC SP.
  10. LOL, maybe I could have chosen better wording to express my point. Mea culpa.
  11. It's not being sour and expecting him to lose everything. I'm just saying those numbers will be broken eventually, and I suspect it'll be next season due to GOE candies and tech advancements, so it's something people should expect because BVs will play a big role in that. Doesn't mean Yuzu won't go right back and break those new records himself, either first or after. But the seeming inviolability of those numbers will probably be challenged next season.
  12. Well, I'm just going to wait and see for whatever comes this season. If he's seriously not considering 4Lz, his chances of increasing BV require him replacing one 3A for another quad (I assume 4T since he's happy with its quality in the second half). And better yet, repeating 4Lo in that 5-quad FS. A reasonable BV increase to go with the small BV increase of the backloaded SP is still an increase, and he might have a few more chances of going clean with all known quantities. But overall, not bringing 4Lz still puts him below whatever Nathan or Shoma (or Boyang) might have in terms of BV. And he could have some good success with the 4Lz in the summer, so it's still possible he'll change his mind from whatever he might have thought initially, so it's still too soon to tell. On one hand, I'm glad about his small little successes in the FS (going clean at Worlds, improvisation, his second half quads quality). On the other, the issues he had with his SP, additionally to the Boston aftermath, seem to have changed his perspective a bit on things and he's coming to this next season with less 'I have to catch up on all these quadsters' and more 'I need to go clean even with lower BV to get consistently good scores'.
  13. I wonder if people should start getting ready for the eventuality that some of his records might be broken next season, and not necessarily (first) by him. There's a lot of tech increase in the men's division that'll make it more and more possible.
  14. @Murieleirum and @fluffypooh, you are talking about the interview he gave yesterday after the clean SP, yes? The translation makes it seem as if he is speaking of his SP as something he'll work on in order to win (and I assumed he's talking about Chopin as it makes sense since it's the SP he's working on right now in the shows) but is his wording in Japanese more vague than that?
  15. I've been meaning to ask: what's the general opinion about the re-use of Chopin in the Japanese, Chinese, Russian, etc. SNS/forums? And if slightly apprehensive/negative, has it changed after seeing the two Chopin 3.0 programs we've had access to lately (the stream and the clean SP)?
  16. I feel it's far more likely to use 4Lz in the SP if he keeps Chopin than if he has a new SP. The chances of going clean even with 4Lz are higher if he has a known quantity to which melody and timings he's more familiar with than if he has a new music that might end up giving him timing issues all over again. In the case of a new SP, I'd expect 4Lo to remain. At this point, I'm even thinking he might stick to the 4Lo for maximum cleanliness even with Chopin but in that case I seriously hope he innovates and upgrades more in the FS (4Lz, maybe 5 quads) in order to not allow much room for the judges to score other's higher tech enough to surpass what advantages he might have in GOEs/PCS.
  17. SE-4A-SE would be a sight... heh
  18. It's okay; I don't mind at all. Making banners for the contest was kind of like getting back to my days making graphics for livejournal, which I haven't done in years, so it was more of a personal thing than a contest thing. Plus Yuzu is a very nice subject for graphic making.
  19. Heck, even I didn't notice it missing and I made it.
  20. He's trying to go for the Russian consistency rule of thinking and see if it rewards him the same way it has Evgenia. But the ladies aren't particularly pushing their sport at the senior level quite yet, whereas in the men it's a completely different story. So, while I have made my peace with Chopin 3.0 (I kinda am really liking it, rough edges or not) and I've found it sufficiently different from the well known record Chopin 2.0, it's actually quite a risky move. It's also a challenge, like someone pointed before. We shall see. And we shall see if he'll risk more with it or if he'll count on just going clean in the SP to have more freedom in a FS.
  21. I'll cherish these improvs because once Jeff and Yuzu sit down to settle things with the choreo, the need for hitting levels might end up making things a little different.
  22. It's only possible in normal forum mode, and it's by simply posting the link (the forum will automatically embed). In mobile mode, though, I'm not sure it's possible to do more than just post a link.
  23. People criticize their favorites all the time, in sports, in movies, in music, whatever area. Just look at the divided opinions on Yuzu's outfits for one. You're not required to LOVE everything your favorite does to be called a fan.
