Team we're fewer but still good!
sallycinnamon replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
The poster is very reliable as she is in the figure skating circles, so the news must be true. I'm shocked actually, but I hope things would turn out well for Ivett and that they parted ways amicably. -
Where does that gif come from ? I can see NHK but which year ? If anyone know, thanks :space: NHK 2015 :space: From min. 06:35:

Tango is fine, but a big no-no to Bublé or any similar cheesy easy listening music.

Well he looks more mature now, doesn't he? Stache, no orange or long hair anymore. :)

Who is your favorite female skater?
sallycinnamon replied to yuzuangel's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Interesting, I was also a rather boyish girl too and I didn't care about artistry, costumes or all the others things which females love in this sport. But it has completely changed some time before Vancouver and now I do enjoy the balance between technique and artistry. Sokolva was lovely but I loved Butyrskaya more. :) -
Who is your favorite female skater?
sallycinnamon replied to yuzuangel's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Me too! I still remember watching the Torino OG and there was this huge 'battle' between her and Sasha Cohen. I remember watching the SP performance with English commentary (don't know who the people are though) saying that she's not going to try to be artistic. She might not have the delicacy from Cohen, but she had a lot of charisma and I like 'powerful' performances quite a lot. (Arakawa was quite a pleasant surprise in those games btw) Irina was my favourite lady skater since I started to watch figure skating - actually, she got me into figure skating. During that time I was a kid and we only had British Eurosport at home, so I didn't understand a single word of the Eurosport uncles. There were no explanations on technique, there were no internet which could've helped me to understand things more. I had to rely solely on the skater's performances. So there was Michelle who was elegant but her jumps seemed tiny and all her music choices seemed the same for me. And there was Irina with two very well choreographed, exciting and charismatic programs in the 1997/1998 season (Piano Waltz for her SP, Russian Folk Music for the FS), plus she had this incredible command on the ice, with huge jumps. As a kid she was the one who attracted my interest and not Michelle, or other skaters. I sometimes wish she would be the first Russian lady who won the Olympic gold medal; she could have won in SLC or in Torino. Alone for her achievements she would have deserved it, but I know that Olympics is not about past results. But some things just aren't meant to be, so to say, and I not only think of Irina here, but Michelle as well. But Irina won two medals at the Olympics, seven Europeans title, two Worlds golds, which makes her one of the most (if not the most) successful Russian ladies ever, which is a brilliant achievement anyway. -
It depends on the music, so I'll have better ideas once his music choices will be revealed (and we won't see anything in shows). But if he chooses a classical piece, then I could imagine something like a velvet royal blue with gold details in it. If the music will be more dynamic and dramatic (like a soundtrack, for example) then all-black with silver (plus maybe rhinestones but not too big/colourful like on RJ2) I don't know why, but something tells me that we will see dark red/maroon in one of his costumes. You can rise like a phoenix from the ashes and re-born, just as I did - without bones though.

Yuna is my all-time favourite  And until her r****ment in 2006, I loved Irina Slutskaya the most. -
Yes! We shall prevail  Though we should probably hide from Meoima right about now... I'm already boneless, Meoima's cats ate them a long time ago. I'm ready to sacrifice other parts of my body as well.

Poll - When/How did you become a fan of Yuzu?
sallycinnamon replied to PomeloPooh's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
Your story is similar to mine :) GPF 2013 was the ultimate turning point for me, too :) My studies couldn't prevent me from watching figure skating though. I always tried to do my exams and finish the winter semester as soon as possible so that nothing distracted me from watching Europeans :rofl2: Worlds was different because there was no exams in March. :) There was only one competition which I barely watched and that was Worlds in 2012, days before my first graduation exams. (RJ1  ) I still have very good memories from those times, like I remember waking up at an ungodly hour to watch Yuna vs Mao in Vancouver, then running to the uni and almost falling asleep during the class. :rofl2:- 249 replies

Poll - When/How did you become a fan of Yuzu?
sallycinnamon replied to PomeloPooh's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
I can't remember when I first saw him skating, probably in 2011 at one of the GP events. I have to be honest, but first when I saw him, I didn't like his skating that much. That time I was in a period when I preferred more mature skaters, both in the ladies and men's field (I didn't care about the Russian babies, I only liked Mao, Yuna, and I was starting to like CaroK..and for the men, I was still a Joubert fan after supporting him for many years and *cough* I was a Dai fan to some extent too. But I didn't really like men's field after Plushy's and Lambiel's r****d in 2010 (well Plush came back but it was different then...). Yuzu's skating was so fresh and new that I needed time to appreciate this extraordinary and new style. It often happens with me that I need more time to get into someone's skating. I first called him 'the wild child' because I always had the impression that he would go into his jumps very recklessly and his skating was really passionate, but it was still not refined. In the 2012/2013 season, Notre Dame didn't help to appreciate him more but I started to like PW a lot. I thought he's a cool kid but still very young and needs time to improve. Then the Olympic season came and I started to feel really depressed that the judges would hand Chan the Olympic gold medal, no matter what he would do on the ice. His first two GP events demonstrated that he could be invincible that season... ....in the meantime I saw Yuzu's RJ2, and I was very happy about his LP because I LOVE Zeffirelli's movie and Nino Rota's music for the movie. And when I saw him competing I slowly started to fell in love with his skating. I thought he improved a lot since 2012/2013, I appreciated his passion, elegance and command on the ice more and more. Then came GPF and after what happened in both GP events I was very surprised -and happy!- that Yuzu beat Patrick. I started to cheer for Yuzu even more, and I felt at that time that if he skated clean(ish) in Sochi then he could have a good chance for the gold. I was very happy for his victory in Sochi, but I didn't know if he wanted to continue skating competitively. Usually the Olympic champions r**** after winning the gold medal. But not Yuzu. I was again happy and surprised, this time because he didn't r**** and that apart from the gold medal, he had many other goals he set for himself. I thought he must be something special. Next season, everyone was waiting for his new programs and CoC. And I was incredibly impressed about his improved maturity, SS, and more difficult technical content etc., on the top of that I absolutely loved both Chopin and POTO too. At this time I was already totally in love with his skating. It took me more time to get to know him more, but since then, I can say that he is my all-time favourite and to me, no one will ever come close to him, either as a skater or as a person.- 249 replies

I agree totally I'm so glad she's getting so much love here  She IS special and I like that we get to see Julia again!!! (I missed her after she r***d .. ) I was so nervous about the Olympic spot and she got it :yay: I like Deniss too he has nice skating skills and spins but what surprised me that I remember watching him in Helsinki I thought he has much nicer jumps irl then how it comes across on tv!!! I hope he'll get a quad soon And yay for the love for James/Cipres  I wasn't the biggest fan before this year but I looooove both of their programs (even the SP  ) The music suits their style perfectly!!! I hope Benoit will choreograph at least one of her programs next season. Do you know anything about that she wants to keep one of her programs or not? Oh it'll be so emotional to see Juli at the Olympics again...and yes I missed her skating too (especially her gorgeous 3Lz), it was really sad that no one represented Hungary in Sochi, but I'm very proud that Ivett got the spot and she'll be there in PC *knocks on wood* Agree about Deniss, he is one of the skaters whose jumps look much better in real life, I loved watching his spins too  (and his coach in the k&c lol) -
Thank you for making this thread I love many Korean skaters, like Eunsoo, Dabin, So Youn, Na Hyun, You, Ye Lim, Jun Hwan.... but my heart will forever belong to the one and only QUEEN YUNA

Tracy was all of us, basically. The pic captured a wonderful moment and I love the angle too... :) On the side note, the door opener lady had the luckiest job during whole the competition. I envy her :)
