  1. In this article about Peter, he says that he's planning to finish his studies (he is studying biotechnology) and will have more time to spend with his family after his retirement. ...and after today's news, sadly his retirement came sooner than expected. I'll miss his skating a lot! I wish him good luck for the future.
  2. News are good but these are just small pieces of info, as Floria and others also mentioned Yuzu doesn't tell everything to JSF and we won't hear every details from JSF etiher. I think if he started jumping a week ago then 3-max.3.5 weeks of full training is expected, it's not short but not a very long time either. His stamina is probably already good so I can only hope everything will be fine with him in the next weeks. We have one month left to the individual SP...and I decided I try to remain as relaxed as possible until the remaining time and sending my positives vibes to Yuzu. I have the feeling that nothing else helps at this point anymore. At the same time the waiting is too long it and the closer the Olympics are the more I think of it every day...at least it's good that Europeans will be a bit distracting in the next five days.
  3. I love these new W magazine covers and pictures
  4. Carolina has been training with both Huth and Mishin since she returned, but she spent most of her time with Mishin in St. Petersburg, they worked on her jumps most of the time. Apart from that she also trained a lot with Huth in Oberstdorf and some time in Canada, with Lori Nichol as well. In this article she denied that there was any changes in her coaching team, she just said that wanted to spend more time in Obersdorf after being away for a longer period and that there are no other particular reasons for going back to Germany. She also added that she remains in daily contact with Mishin too.
  5. Canadian Olympic Team has been announced: Ladies: Kaetlyn Osmond, Gabrielle Daleman, Larkyn Austman Men: Patrick Chan, Keegan Messing Ice Dance: Virtue/Moir, Gilles/Poirier, Weaver/Poje Pairs: Duhamel/Radford, Seguin/Bilodeau, Moore-Towers/Marinaro
  6. Happy birthday Gaby and good luck in the free skate today! It's such a nice gif:
  7. An article on CBC, I'm not sure if it was already shared before http://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/pyeongchang/figure-skating/hanyu-hopes-injury-wont-hamper-olympics-1.4482410
  8. Javier and Plushenko will play football on skates on 15 January hope Javi won't injure himself
  9. It is a bit surprising to me because it would have been their last competition before the Games, but I somewhat understand that they want to focus on the Olympics now and need more time to work and refine those techniqual details. I don't know whether Hocke/Blommaert will be able to keep the two spots for Germany for the next Europeans. It will be their first Europeans this year and the pressure will be higher than usually...we'll see.
  10. IOC can test the athletes at any time and any place during the Olympics, and WADA also has in-competition and out-of-competition testing authority...(see 5.2. in IOC's Anti-Doping Rules of the Olympic Games). I don't know how it works in practice, but I wouldn't wonder if they tested the skaters after both the team event and the individual ones (maybe both SP and FS). Not only media obligations but also doping tests take a lot of time after competitions...
  11. I don't know the reason for it but this happens quite often in canoe sprint, I heard lots of similar stories in the past years. Figure skaters are extra careful when it comes to their drinks, and during competitions coaches or team members usually carry their water bottles/take care of them all the time.
  12. Are we going to see June Hyoung Lee or Jin seo Kim at senior Worlds then? Jin seo finished ahead of Lee at Nationals but Lee has better results this season.
  13. It appears that Yuzu sent a message to the TV Asahi Big Sports Award and said that he can't be there at the award ceremony but he is spending his days with "a strong feeling towards the Olympics" and he is continuing to do his efforts and go beyond himself. Anyone understands Japanese, please translate
  14. Probably because Pooh is too visible at the board and especially in the kiss and cry, while Mickey not. And in the kiss and cry, I think it makes a difference whether an athlete gets it as a present or intentionally uses it... They'd have to pay a large fine probably...+ imagine the negative publicity they'd get. But it's also the athlete's responsilibity to comply with Rule 40 of the Olympic Charter...which says that they are not allowed to use their names/images etc for advertising purposes...though Yuzuru's case is special because he doesn't use (and never used) Pooh for this purpose Anyway he'll be fine without Pooh, as he was in Sochi, too.
  15. Even if Disney decided to pay IOC, the legal part of the whole process would take more time to manage than just three weeks. It's just too unrealistic.
