Superstitions that came true (and some that didn't)
sallycinnamon replied to yuzuangel's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
It doesn't make much sense but 2017 4CC SP was on 02/17, Yuzu wore purple, Olympics FS was on 02/17 one year later and there was purple in his costume too - 95% of the arena at the Olympics are purple at the Olympics. Well it's not superstition but my name day is on 02/16 and the meaning of my name is purple... -
Yuzuru Hanyu Magyar Szurkolói Sarok
sallycinnamon replied to sallycinnamon's topic in International Talk
Nekem is nehéz elhinni, még ennyi nap után is. De milyen jól hangzik: Yuzuru Hanyu kétszeres Olimpiai Bajnok! -
Nice I hope for the best for him today, I hope everything will go well. I will throw in a Pooh and a purple (and yellow) swan today. Yesterday I released a blue swan into the lake which is near the Gangneung ice arena. The weather was beautiful and sunny, it was very calm there (and I also stayed quite calm until the last group) And since I can't sleep now and have time, I am going to the sea (Sea of Japan) to leave a swan in it, too. I hope it brings luck to Yuzuru.

I know someone who's been a fan of Yuzuru since 2009 and never ever watched his competitions live and said that it's already some kind of supersition for her. She checks the results after he skates and then she watches his performance. I couldn't do that either! I don't know how many times I watched GP events muted at work, especially NHK which is always in the morning/early afternoon here in Europe Sometimes when big competitions are on workdays then I take a day off to watch him skate. I love the excitement and intensity of competitions and even if I am nervous I never close my eyes during his performances, I think it would bring him bad luck if I did

Yuzu looks cheerful, happy and confident! And I really don't know how does he look so good after a 13-16 hour flight I can't express how good it is to see him again after such a long time! I really hope he feels fine and will have a good rest today, and then everything will go well in the next days.

All OT emoticons I found are so angry, but then I finally found one which isn't:

As the host nation Korea has a spot in the Team Event, so I guess Brian will be there earlier.
-
We don't know anything about his current condition, he may be at 99% but wants to be 100% ready that's why he may decide to practice more. Let's trust him and his decision, whatever it is. I have a feeling that he's going to be fine.

I think his Chopin costume is beautiful, it's my favourite so far. The colours go very well together, and the neck part is my favourite I am curious whether there will be any changes. (As for Yuna, she lost her golden ring before the Olympics and wanted to buy a new golden one but Brian told her not to wear gold and Yuna bought a silver ring instead, which I think went perfectly together with her gorgeous FS costume!)

Zijun's retirement saddens me but it isn't a surprise unfortunately I'll miss her wonderful, elegant skating very much and I wish her all the best in her post-competitive career.

They're still not the nicest, I've only made about 20 so far But it's so much fun to make swans! (some of them in the box are yours like the brown one haha) And this is the last one I made:

The tutorial that @Aotoshiro posted is very good and if you want a video version, try this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2J17qjFLPr0 (and I'm posting this right after I've just finished making an origami swan )

I'm very happy for Dabin, too! She's a good competitor, she usually delivers under big pressure! Though she is not close to the top competitiors in PCS I also feel like her components could be slightly higher if her fed were stronger... It never goes over 60+ while others who aren't better in PCS than her, 4-5 more points... Also I think Dabin's 3Lz at the beginning at her FS was clearly outside edge and she shouldn't have got a ! on it, I think she worked hard on the lutz recently which shows because it's better than before. I hope that judges won't give her an ! in the future. Korea as the host nation has a spot in the Team Event, yes, but most likely they won't qualify for the free skate. There's a chance that Dabin would skate in the SP, but I wouldn't be surprised if she rests for the individual and will skate only there.

In the latest podcast of PJ Kwong, Shae-Lynn talked about choreographing Seimei and her work with Yuzu (I still couldn't finish listening to it, but the part about Yuzu begins at around 30 min 31 sec)

I have no idea how Bukin is on the list. Let's wait for more news, then...

A short clip, too

Fedor looks like a doc, Evgenia like a nurse and Bukin & Soloviev like masseurs.
