So they haven't even started and they're doing what they basically did for Javier and Yuzuru at the end? Well all right.

They are aware now! They already know what it means to train two super stars under the same roof! There will be four of them this season! haha star wars

See picture above :P

Hahaha, well i think of it as a sort of "preemptive measure"? It was a first for the team, having two close rivals like that. They know Yuzu but they don't know Boyang so maybe they are doing what worked well last time for both people?

But it only got messy at TCC around big championships.

Didn't they say one of the points of Boyang's move is to get used to training alongside top competitors, and to train in a daily competition? Well that went out the window quickly.

ETA

@Hydroblade I have no idea tbh because these guys haven't even met yet, not truly. I'd have expected some easing in period.

I get the issues of secrecy, especially for Yuzuru, as it is impossible to keep anything away from all the major Feds now, thanks to other people in the club, but all of them?

that's why I'm confused ... how this is gonna work? it's gonna work at all? it's a tricky situation and it can go out of hands if they are not careful enough ... I like all of them, Boyang,  Zhenia and Jason ... I hope they will be okay ...

This. This is what makes me feel uncomfortable the most.

Let’s not forget that one of the big strategy that helped Yuzu to win the Olympics was pretending to have recovered in order to confuse his rivals. Remember when Yuzu said he wanted to keep the SP layout on paper 4lo instead of 4S because he knew Raf was eyeing on him? Now he couldn’t do it again, because most of his direct rivals have way to follow his training: Canada (Congrad), USA (Jason), China (Boyang), Korea (Jun).

Training along one (1) direct competitor is one thing, but four (4)? (one could argue that only Boyang is at the same level, but still, all the guys are more or less main stars of big feds). Beside, nobody likes their rivals to know all their moves.

Apparently TSL is saying that Tursynbayeva is leaving, and might do Pairs. Not on their twitter, so I'm assuming it's on one of their recent videos. Not giving them a view, so maybe someone else can confirm. If true, it's as predicted. Still doubt Cha will be leaving.

I think Boyang getting used to competitors is something we, as fans here and in China, have inferred, but that's never been a direct quote from CSA. CSA's rationale on paper, is to improve Boyang's overall package-this is most frequently referred to when they mention Yuzu, Orser etc.

On the other hand, that secrecy would be why Brian doesn't allow "two cooks in the kitchen"- TCC team decides the strategy, the feds cannot intervene easily or the deal is out. So from that perspective, CSA probably have to be totally hands off, else CSA will get kicked out. My concern is USFed,  but then again USFed doesn't seem that invested in Jason as a whole. Korean Fed, same deal. It's less the skaters per se, but how each fed handles things. And well with CSA, if you have to even find out their own skaters' statuses via skater's/fan Weibo, well...

"Team Underscored" for the men in TCC (Yuzu, Boyang, Cha and even Jason to an extent).

I watched the first half of the video and yes they mentioned that she was leaving... they also talked about Brown moving to Orser, Evgenia's Olympic channel interview and her development. They also talked about Hanyu's award, his EX and his 3A :) Then I stopped watching, will continue later on...

Who is she moving to though, is the question. Raf? =/

While everyone is focused on the Eteri vs Orser battle due to Med, maybe next season would be more interesting in the ladies as Raf vs Eteri vs JPN ladies battle. Orser only has 2 skaters in contention, Raf has more direct competition with Eteri in senior and junior ranks.

I don't think they said where she was moving to but I do remember them saying that it was mutually agreed upon that she would be going... Yeah i think as a team Raf vs Eteri vs JPN ladies is the real battle. Gabby is still super inconsistent except for that one season and really Evgenia is the only real contender in ladies that Brian has....

What did they say specifically say about all three? I try not to watch them, I end up getting really poed in the end and that would ruin my day.

Yeah, you're right, and I don't like it. Unfortunately there just aren't that many good skating coaches out there, and as we see every quad, skaters end up congregating to the same training centers. Isn't this happening in Ice Dance too?

But what can we do? :/ I guess one thing would be to just understand that no one's a saint, and Brian certainly isn't one, but it worked out for Yuzu so far, and we should just be happy that it has. And hope that it continues to work out for as long as Yuzu wants to keep skating.

On that note, I will say that I've been interviewed before, and direct quotes are made up all the time. At least for me, it happens more often than not that quotes are outright fabricated or twisted to fit a narrative. BUT I'm a nobody, and there's almost no way it would happen to someone like Brian, by a reporter that only writes on a niche topic, knowing that their words WILL be analyzed. The skating world is small and he could easily be blacklisted. So while I do think Phil asked a leading question there, or conveniently left out context, there's no way he messed with the quote.

I guess all we can do is cross our fingers and hope for the best. Sigh.

They were pretty complimentary about the award, the really catty one (can't recall his name) talked about how come the gymnast Uchimura hasn't one the award as he and Hanyu are equally masters of their sport. They are super excited about Evgenia's move and they loved her interview with Olympic channel - they thought she was very well spoken and mentioned something about her being the Katarina Witt of this generation. They didn't care for the music for Yuzuru's EX nor the costume but they readily admitted that they were not the target audience. They waxed very effusive about his GLORIOUS 3A though!

Completely OT and I can't believe I'm agreeing with David Lease, but how come Uchimura hasn't received that award yet? Though I guess it could be because the award doesn't really reward sports accomplishments so much as how one inspires others; in Yuzu's case, related to him bringing hope to the earthquake areas and his contributions to the reconstruction effort.

The 3A was glorious. I am surely hoping judges don't get stingy on the GOEs for his 3A this coming season, but it's likely they will anyway.

My theory is that Yuzu right now is making the most impact post Winter Olympics. Also, being the first Japanese man to win Gold in FS and the first in 66 years to repeat that feat (I looked at the other athletes who received the awards and most of them had a couple of firsts in their accomplishments). Then after that he had the Parade in Sendai which was front page on the news media. My guess is that after Tokyo2020 Kohei would probably be considered as well.
