Looking at protocols, I continue to be baffled at +GOE of any kind for Satoko's jumps. I just flat out don't get it at all.  Wait:  I do understand.... I naively continue to believe judging is neutral somehow, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary over decades. Stupid, stupid, liv!!

The judging as usual makes me mad. In my opinion it should have been: Kaori, Satoko, Sima, the rest...

I would have Kaori in first. Love her jumps and speed across the ice. Satoko is lovely as usual, but her 3T should be UR, the same with 3lo. Its strange that they called Ashley and Karen's jumps but ignore Satoko's. I admire Satoko for coming back after injuries, but I would like to see fair judging. I have no problem if they give her 34 or even 35 pcs, but I can't get over the fact her triple get the same credit as Kaori's or Polina's 

Love Sima's performance, I would have her in 3rd.

Seem like Karen back to last year's program. I dont know what's happen with her and the coaching team. Why they switch program at every competition like this ? Especially when she's so inconsistent ? Her fall on 3lo looked so bad. I hope she's ok

Ashley was lucky when they only call her 3T as UR.

I hope Kaori holds it together. That would be one giant upset podium placer I'm all for. Same with Gabby! And I also hope that Polina rises from the ashes like a phoenix and storms her way to the podium (given her scores a 1st place is unlikely, but she can still get bronze possibly). 

 

I'm so happy for Serafima and Plushy, I hope she can have another good skate tomorrow! So sweet how she dived for a hug

happy for Kaori and Gabby, and Satoko clawing her way to the top again after her injuries! She's a lovely skater. Tho I'm baffled that the 3Lo wasn't called...it was a pretty huge UR to me...but her GOEs on jumps are quite low in general, so judges did their job...

*fluff corner* That dress doesn't make her really stand out on the ice... more woman join the dark side of costumes, please (steal some all black from men!) still, better that pastel soft pink than, say barbie fluo pink, so I'll take this.

Another dress I love is Karen's. And red suits Gabby so much *end of fluff corner*

I'm sad for Polina... I'd really like to see her on podium... but she won't be in the last group again, so even if clean her pcs won't be very high

And the ladies upsetting my predictions and giving a chance to Waka... but let's see what happens in the free. Given how bad was men's, ladies' fs hopefully will be good

But now I'm even sadder for Mai, if Satoko wins this and Waka goes to the final it will be so much harder for her to get that spot

I couldn't make myself wake up this morning ( super gloomy classic November weather here ) and I thought checking the ladies SP results would help and oh boy did what I saw make me wide awake immediately, like WHAT  

 

Surprised Satoko is 1st but very happy for her, the program is beautiful, interpretation is truly outstanding. 

Kaori was a discovery for me today. Yep, I have been living under a rock apparently  Her jumps!!! Fantastic! That StSq blew me away, so much musicality and wonderful interpretation, I think I've just found a new fave, hehe. 

Gabby's 3T3T is something! So powerful, I always replay it multiple times to fully enjoy it  

Sad about Karen, that fall looked nasty... 

 

Anyway, what an unpredictable sport 

 

I watched Kaori, Satoko and Serafima on youtube. 

Kaori is great and I'm happy she's doing good in her 1st senior year. The only thing I don't like in her SP is this skin colour mesh triangle on her dress. The dress is beautiful and would be much better without it.

Sotoko's program is a masterpiece, but I wouldn't have her in 1st place. Her jumps are really holding her back.

I was never a fan of Serafima, I only saw her once at GP last season, but I was almost crying when she ended her SP. Fight girl! You're not done yet! 

I'm reallyyyyy happy for Kaori. I loved watching her practice in Moscow, she has great speed and her jumps have really good speed and flow. I love her Amelie program so I hope she does well again today!

Not really. And Dudakov was supportive too. It's clear when you look at the Juniors, they have a good relationship with the girls. Eteri and the team have kept her on, when everyone was so sure they wouldn't, and managed to build her back up to where she is now, and she's in an excellent form. 

 

Polina looked gutted, which is normal. Basically, her season just went up in flames. If she had qualified for the GPF, she would have had a decent shot at qualifying for the Olympics. It still would have been difficult, considering that Medvedeva is a sure thing, and confirmed by RusFed in essence even if she doesn't comete at Nats, and of course, there's Alina. But that third spot was wide open, as Anna got so badly injured. St. Pete's going to push for one of theirs, and push with all their might, which is considerable and with Sotskova in the GPF, and one shouldn't forget Radio, they are gunning for it.

 

Polina could have opened that door slightly with the GPF. Now, all bye bye. She could technically still get there today but it depends on many outside factors too, one of which is actually calling Satoko's URs. And that is never pleasant. She wasn't terrified; she just knew the reality was pretty bleak at that moment.

OT and out of nowhere  but I was watching Ashley's SP (which I love) and at the start I had a weird feeling of deja-vu but with Tessa Virtue...I don't know if it's because of the costume (I liked Ashley's 2015-2016 dress+hair colour more) or the expression or what, it was so strange

And oh Karen's fall was scary. How could she get up that fast

 Also, Eteri's girls aren't the only ones who like mime, Karen uses it too, tho I appreciate that at least Karen keeps her mouth shut...I find the open mouthed "oh face" quite annoying in the otherwise very lovely Polina's SP
