Argh Wow, another totally messy GP men event... but yay for those who managed to stand on that unsteady recycled podium, and wow wow wow Misha :tumblr_inline_n18qr5lPWB1qid2nw:

(kinda sad that a splat/popfest was needed for him to medal:facepalm:)

my AU interpretation is that all men were belatedly hit by the reality of Yuzu's WD and decided to show their solidarity in the universal language male skaters share, aka splatfest and pop concert :13877886:sorry :slinkaway:

happy that Javi could hold onto his first place, sad Shoma was so unwell, but still he fought hard  I hope he can recover fully now he has some time to get proper rest (reserving any further judgement about his FS program for when he'll skate it clean again. tho those pcs in both SP and FS... judges are so ready to give him everything if he goes clean).

But Misha!!! He was a ray of sunshine in a rather gloomy men FS (Chopin costume brought him luck)

And he got his medal! yay!

True, it doesn't even resemble a medal (different colour, size, material...he can't even wear it:smiley-laughing021::facepalm:)  but, hey, everyone can have a normal medal. He's the only one who got a wonderful (smallish) blue plastic star! It's unique! It's fab! It's... kinda depressing, but it will make for good tales for his future granchildren.

(futurefic scenario under spoiler. Sorry, I should be sleeping by now:embSwan:)

 *Some decades in the future*

Misha (with his SP beard, but grey) sitting by the fireplace, surrounded by his nosy granchildren.

-Have I ever told you the story of that blue star?- pointing to the blue star standing in proud display in his trophy case. it's bright and blu and it really stands out among all those other tiny pieces of metal.

-No, grandpa,- the children lie. They love to hear that story again and again! -Please, tell us!-

Granpa Misha clears his throat and touches his beard pensively, gaze lost into a distant past.

-Well,- he starts gravely, -it was the Year of the Cursed GP Season. Pain and terror reigned everywhere in the skating world, people splatted and popped all over the place, podium predictions were constantly screwed up, judges were driving people crazy and it looked as if all the fans would end dead even before the Nats bloodbaths.

It was the week after the Awfully Scary Accident had forced the Great and Beloved King of Extra out of GP and everyone was shook and panicking.

The only mascot that wasn't mourning for the King of Extra was a white fluffy Yeti that made children run away in terror, and it's not like the French Fed had the money to hire a Kumamon or a Domo-kun anyway, so....

... (please go on with the fic)*

Well, at least french fed knows how to make us *remember the name* (for the wrong reasons tho:slinkaway::smiley-laughing021:)

Lol I was discussing earlier with someone : how will a skater explain it too her grand-kids if the  plastic star became the only medal (grand prix) they ever got. It really happened!

:sadPooh:

Grandpa Misha : Yes little Sasha, this plastic star is the most important medal I ever got

Sasha: But it's not a medal...

Grandapa Misha: It is a medal.

[show Yuzuru's bronze medal for reference]

This is what's inside. The plastic holds the spirit of the medal.

and Misha took cosplaying a fellow skater to another level. Instead of waiting a season, he updated the very next competition.

Denis really has beautiful step sequences.

It's really cool Denis Ten chose to skate to a song by a Kazakh singer Dimash Kudaibergen, but I do agree with an earlier comment that this may be to big for him to skate to. Denis needs to be 110% to match Dimash's extra-ness. Yes, Yuzu would probably be able to match that extra-ness.

We know this already but still sad to hear.

Is there a way to send Misha a fan-made medal that's a lot nicer?

Oh man...Vincent....:sadPooh:  Time to change coaching team?   It's sad to see his potential being held back...

But...why? It's only one competition! Cheer up, kid!

I think Vincent is just a naturally introspective person and expresses himself through writing best. Heard he likes to compose poetry as well?

Another GP, another disaster :slinkaway: I saw the result and super happy that Misha got medal. He's the only one that's worth to remember in this event.

Javi still struggle with his LP. This season his landing is really weird, even in the SP when he's clean, its still not his best quality. I saw on twitter that he feel pain on his hip during the skate. Hopefully its not serious. He has a lot of time until Euro

Shoma, well, at least he got through it .  He's so tired during the whole comp, and this LP's is emptier than ever when he skated slow, it looked like he took out half of its choreo.

Its sad to see Vincent skate this weekend. This kid has so much potential, his skating is quite smooth and has more emotion than Nathan, but all those quads doesnt take him anywhere. All of his quads and 3A were UR and tech panel only call 1 in FS. Let him improve his SS/spin, rotation and give him better program, he's only 17 and has bright future if his team guide him to the right direction.

The tech panel is super generous. Shoma's 4F in both program were << but only get <, his 3Lze could be seen in real time. Javi's 3A were UR too. The placement is correct, but I would give Shoma/Javi 10 points lower. And Misha should have highest LP's pcs

To think about it, Yuzu never get any benefit of doubt when its come to TES. He might get generous PCS a couple of time, but he hardly ever get away when its come to UR and edge calls, even at National. Some of his UR were too harsh ( ie : 4lo at COR, 4T at WC14's SP, ACI15'SP).

Catching up!

1. Misha: <3 Also, honestly? Should've won the FS.. nobody tell me quads are ruining the sport - judging is. Is there a gofundme or any movement to give him a REAL medal? I'd donate in a heartbeat.

2. Shoma: His PCS?? (Also 4F << and 3Lze). Please go back to Loco or Turandon't version1. His FS is really empty and there's just so much intense faceTM , 'why hands' and quality crossovers can hide. But, great job considering his current condition. Rest well because the pressure will be all on him this GPF. (Let's be honest, even if Wakababy makes it they're gonna ignore her anyway with a looming Medo vs Zagi competition storyline.)

3. Javi: His PCS as well....????? But glad for him nabbing gold. This should give him a confidence boost.

ETA: Vincent needs a coaching  team intervention. If the goal is to be on the Olympic team, he doesn't need to break himself doing 5 quads in the GP series. Even with 3 quads he can out-TES Adam and Jason. 3 quads will also improve his stamina instead of zapping them. Honestly, I'd prefer Adam & Jason for the the Olympic team since Vincent is young but he will definitely be capable of outscoring them both even with 3 quads.

I don't mind the stars as much, but that podium has to go.

Was the same at the GPF last year, wasn't it?

It first appeared at Worlds 2012 in Nice and they have been reusing it ever since. :13877886:
