[2017] GP Rostelecom Cup - Men Short Program

I am at the arena. Yuzuru will be fine. He ALWAYS messes his first GP short program anyway. Look back from Skate Canada 2013, Cup of China 2014, Skate Canada 2015, Skate Canada 2016. He messed every time and always scored around 70-80. So this is a HUGE improvement. Stay calm. He will do well in the free skate.

You are always so soothing, thank you :thanks::bow::tumblr_inline_nhkezsTB3v1qid2nw:

I know. I just want to hug you :10742289::xD:

Okay, I'm amazed at the speed this threat is moving on, so I'm only going to ad my three cents about the kid...he didn't chuck it, you know? He made it so that it flew off of his hands onto the ice (or Pooh's mountain, didn't notice clearly), and considering the rough way he stops by the boards, it was saving a picture from getting torn, squished, or wrinkled by him trying to keep it and lean on the boards/put on skateguards/hug Brian/put on jacket... (there is so much to consider in K&C...). If this was picked from the ice, it's most likely to be carefully (or not so much-still better than K&C, I remember the state of the flowers he once brought there...) picked up, folded and then given to him with all the wish cards (reminder that he specifically asks for all postcards and letters be gathered together and given to him).

Re:Chopin. Am I seriously the only one zen about it being the second place holder? Nate's jump looked scratchy to me, but his GOE's has shown it (if it was Boyang, they would probably be harsher but as it was, it's still p.Fair for figure skating judging imo), the Loop I would skim over, but it was UR (only I needed to look at it like seventeen times to be 100% sure I'm not seeing things), and I guess that while Yuzuru is definitely Kuyashii, his reactions after getting off ice, in the K&C and in the interview made me quite relaxed, in a he-knows-what-was-wrong-and-knows-what-he-is-doing-so-I-just-have-to-trust-him-and-the-team.

BTW, somebody goes for the Rostelecom Threat for the short Dance?

I think we just want something to distract ourselves because Yuzu went a few steps down from a previous performance without an actual reason we can pinpoint, other than - adding a new jump, focusing on his FS and so on which is a skater's stock in trade. All that stuff shouldn't distract him from doing his SP well. Has he done this before? Step down without a tangible reason, after near perfection?

And while the 4lo had a reason - first time in this SP, already giving some trouble, we know he can land it - the fall on the 3t simply didn't have one we could see other than he wasn't skating as well as he should've been. But the axel was fine. Better than fine. Last Seimei he popped the axel. So... I'd take a fall on the 3T as the second jump in a combo over a popped axel. But I don't think it's very nice that I'm thinking of such choices at all.

A lot hinges on tomorrow, but his endgame is Olympics, and his goal this competition is to land the 4lz and skate clean.

He needs to do those things tomorrow. He really does.

i think it would look less chokey if he had a split / v shape gap in front of the collar.

All this talk about collar reminds of wakaba's costume...... (im so nervous i feel like im gonna die when ladies sp start). Anyway, the colar looks heavy bc of all the gold sparkles, im not sure this would solve the issue?

*whisper* or more sparkles up front, to make it look less like a lone decoration... tho, maybe it's just camera's need photos and fancams of the costume!

So good to hear this from you :tumblr_inline_n18qr5lPWB1qid2nw:

I'm still new to the fandom so sometimes I forget that it may take lots of :pancake::pancake::pancake: to get maxresdefault.jpg.

Why would he need to say it when, well we can all fill it silently in our brains?

But no, I think I agree with him that a lot of the issues today were more technical than mental (ACI Seimei was mental), so that is easier to fix.

The kid is my favourite thing about today. The chucked report was poorly worded. There was no chucking. He let the paper waft gently down to kiss the ice softly like a feather. LIKE A FEATHER YOU GUYS! ANOTHER SWAN SIGN! (Why so many tiny cute kid haters around? >_>)

So, I watched the SP a second time and it is not bad at all (performance wise). He made mistakes but it is still okay and the score is good as well. Hopefully he will have a good FP tomorrow as I am really interested in seeing all the changes in Seimei :tumblr_inline_ncmifaymmi1rpglid:

BTW, the drawing the kid handed him was wrapped in plastic so it was meant to be thrown on ice

my worst idea yet:

maybe he should scrap the collar and just go with illusion mesh with tons of glitter on the neck. :)

If I could make adjustments, I’d have the gold sparkles descend down his shoulders and fade out subtly before the blue starts.

Idk like. It could have been worse but it’s just...the same Chopin costume lol

Oh, nice! Is the costume better live or on TV?

It looks very nice, and he was moving around very smooth. I think not leading after the SP is nice for him though.
