February 7, 20224 yr Okay. After seeing that, he should definitely not put 4A in. Do the 4Lo layout, preferably with an upgrade on the combo to 3A3Lo and changing the 3Lo to a 3F. Gets a base value boost because he is not going to get full BV on that. I know he's said he wants to go and win with the 4A as a weapon. But it is not ready and will actively hinder him, unless today was a fluke and he's been doing better 4As back home. He'll have other chances for the 4A. He only has one chance to win a third Olympics. (But that last one? That looked pretty close to rotated. Now he has to control those forces and land the darn thing.)
February 7, 20224 yr I'm here for Yuzu. Whatever he thinks will make him happy - I say, go for it. It hurts me to see him struggle, but if that's what it takes for him to attain his dreams, then so be it. It's been said before, and I'll say it again - he does not owe anyone anything. Regardless of the result, I have never seen a more courageous individual. Cheers, Yuzu! Fighting Now, excuse me for a minute while I pray to all the gods to keep him safe while aiming for his dream
February 7, 20224 yr I don't know how to feel. I really wanted him to win with 4A because he deserve it but now it seems impossible. I'm proud of him for all the efforts and I understand how much of pressure he is under. I hope the media will be kind to him after all this hype. You know if the judging was fair, maybe he wasn't going for such layout in Olympics and would just rely on 4Loop.

February 7, 20224 yr Yuzu could skate whatever he wants. With 4A or not. I just hope he's stay healthy and happy at the end.

I hate how the media will inevitably spin it if Yuzu doesn't get gold 'the fall of Hanyu' 'the end of the champion's reign' etc etc

I absolutely salute him for staying true to the goal he has set for himself. I think he would have a harder time coping with shelving the Nessie attempt than he will if he tries it and doesn't win. That said, if he wants to substitute 4lo to increase his chances of gold, I certainly won't fault him. More than anything, I'm just mesmerized by watching him work it out. He's clearly come up with some new insights since JNats, reflected in the new elements he's introduced to the training process. Looks like he's adjusted how he uses his shoulders and arms and the way he's approaching the landing. I'm fascinated by the 3A with additional rotations after landing and the way he was checking the angle of his hips. I feel like I'm in Einstein's brain as he works out E=mc2.
February 7, 20224 yr I wish he wouldn't jump 4A.... maybe later when he lands safer, but at Olympics? But let's trust Yuzu. [NEWS]
February 7, 20224 yr Spoiler For crying out lound, let him do his thing! He needs the mileage on the 4A and he is getting the opportunity to do so, and if the olympics just happened to be along the way that's just the way it is. His gritty determination is what has got him this far and survive all the pressure without losing his integrity! Giving in to changing the layout in order to "win" would not be his style. In any case, he looks to be in great shape and his other quads look so easy now. I would be happy to go along this wild ride in whatever direction it may take us, and sometimes it may not be all roses and rainbows but that's part of the joy of travelling with Yuzu. Regarding the 3F, he always used to have 3F in his 2 quad free program before 2018 so he knows ver well how to integrate that jump into the program.

He's not adding 4A in for scoring potential... it's his childhood dream.

February 7, 20224 yr I don’t know, maybe he wants to try 4A no matter what, or maybe he’s trying it out in practice and if it doesn’t work out then he is gonna change layout, or maybe even he’s going to see how the scoring goes in the SP before making the final decision. I hope he has trained 4Lo and the 3A-3Lo followed by 3F enough to give himself options.
February 7, 20224 yr So, according to SponIchi, 2 of the attempts had enough rotation but with SO and one has insufficient rotation and hands down? This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
