Okay. After seeing that, he should definitely not put 4A in. Do the 4Lo layout, preferably with an upgrade on the combo to 3A3Lo and changing the 3Lo to a 3F. Gets a base value boost because he is not going to get full BV on that.

I know he's said he wants to go and win with the 4A as a weapon. But it is not ready and will actively hinder him, unless today was a fluke and he's been doing better 4As back home. He'll have other chances for the 4A. He only has one chance to win a third Olympics.

(But that last one? That looked pretty close to rotated. Now he has to control those forces and land the darn thing.)

I dont think it as easy as that.I dont think he pratices 4 loop a lot..since his spend time practicing the 4A

Yuzu isn't stupid. I think there's a good chance that he'll switch it for 4Lo if he and Nathan are close enough that 4Lo vs 4A<< will make a difference to him winning. But if the scoring is so ridiculous he can't catch up with 4Lo anyway, then he'll go for 4A. or if Nathan has a bad skate and he can win even with 4A<< he'll go for it.

The only issue is if he hasn't trained 4Lo lately, but I guess we'll see

For crying out lound, let him do his thing!  He needs the mileage on the 4A and he is getting the opportunity to do so, and if the olympics just happened to be along the way that's just the way it is.   His gritty determination is what has got him this far and survive all the pressure without losing his integrity!  Giving in to changing the layout in order to "win" would not be his style.   In any case, he looks to be in great shape and his other quads look so easy now.  I would be happy to go along this wild ride in whatever direction it may take us, and sometimes it may not be all roses and rainbows but that's part of the joy of travelling with Yuzu.

Regarding the 3F, he always used to have 3F in his 2 quad free program before 2018 so he knows ver well how to integrate that jump into the program.

YES.

Just cause my knowledge of required jump content has temporarily left my brain, I am very tired - what if he kept 4A but added a fifth quad? That could be a safety net for if 4A doesn't work out. I know 5 quads can be hard with his asthma but theoretically is there anything stopping him from keeping 4A but adding quad loop too?

The issue is not just Nathan's overscores. We have another Nathan now, aka Yuma. Who gets positive GOE on step out 4Loop. If Yuzu doesn't go clean and insists on a not ready 4A, he will get bronze. I don't care but media will eat him up.

This. I absolutely salute him for staying true to the goal he has set for himself. I think he would have a harder time coping with shelving the Nessie attempt than he will if he tries it and doesn't win.

I hate how the media will inevitably spin it if Yuzu doesn't get gold 'the fall of Hanyu' 'the end of the champion's reign' etc etc

and we will collectively say one big f**k you to the media and continue to support him.

i woke with clear realisation that i don't care about medals and scores anymore. until now i was imagining triple ogm, but seriously, Zu won everything there is to win. cheering for him in fulfilling his dreams now.

So, according to SponIchi, 2 of the attempts had enough rotation but with SO and one has insufficient rotation and hands down?

please let this be true. I really did think the height + speed looked better 🙏

Well that's what I got from Google Translate LOL.

But, if it is indeed true then he is making progress.

Yeah I agree absolutely! I care about scores not in the sense of me personally caring about results but more about how his achievements will be devalued by many because of a few less than perfect scores

Yuma's scores are getting higher and he is a genuine threat now, but I don't think they're quite at the point where he can overtake Yuzu if Yuzu's clean on everything else yet.

God don't even remind me of that when I saw Yuma's protocols I was the human embodiment of ????

Let's just watch what he does. We're all strapped in on this rollercoaster anyway. May as well wave our arms in the air and enjoy the ride.
