February 9, 20224 yr So, they're saying it was trace amounts of a heart medication? Wow. A 15 year old world record setting athlete with a heart condition. That's rough.
February 9, 20224 yr Um, well, this is a KNOWN and BANNED substance since 2014 that has been repeatedly used by athletes to enhance their cardio (most famous case is the swimmer Sun Yang in 2014). Last case involving this same substance was Sergeeva at PC 2018. I doubt that she really has a heart condition - if she did, they would have trumpeted this along ago (and not use this drug, or seek exemptions or something).

Yeah it's being unofficially reported as trimetazadine, although if it is, whether it's because Kamila has a genuine heart condition or because it can help oxygen flow and therefore improve performance is gonna be the question

I always have a much harder time forcing myself to jump big if there are too many people around me. Granted, I'm not doing anything particularly difficult and I'm not an elite athlete, so idk how much my experience applies to Yuzu, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's affecting him. I think so, too, especially since Yuzu said he's been training by himself in the middle of the night. So, having to share an ice rink with other people is certainly something he isn't used to. Also, his jumps are huge, especially the 4A. It's no wonder he's being very careful. 8 hours ago, YuDai said: I would love for Yuzu to start his own YT channel or go into acting, but judging by his personality I don't find that very likely... I'm not sure if he would be into coaching either (has he ever mentioned this?) since he's such a hermit, but he would still do shows, right? I think Yuzu will definitely do ice shows after his competitive career. He clearly love to be on ice shows. I can imagine him producing his own, too, like CiONTU. I hope he will also do ice shows around the world and not only in Japan. I'm sure if he'd do a world tour, all the shows will be sold out. 8 hours ago, Tee said: Tf? Esp since they apparently wore the exact same jumpsuit in an earlier event. I hope multiple law disputes or lawsuits are opened tbh. These athletes dedicate their lives to their sports and the olympic committee just shrug at that dedication as if it’s a joke It was such a shitty thing to pull of by the FIS. Apparently, the officials had been very lax when it came to checking the women's suits during competitions like World Cups until now, unlike men's where they're really strict. All of a sudden, they decided to follow the rules strictly during the Olympic mixed competition. They could've started to do this all season. Heaven knows why they were so stupid to pick the Olympics out of all possible comps, thus, creating a huge scandal. Sports organizations... I've already said this before. How great would sports be without all the politics... 7 hours ago, Pasta said: Believe it or not, the mistake in SP already affected him. Let's just hope it doesn't get bigger or worse. He is a wise man. Let's just trust him and pray for him but at the same time do not expect anything for tomorrow FS. Just let yuzu be yuzu. Trust me, by doing this,it hurts less for us and for him. Oh, he's affected for sure. Perhaps Yuzu doesn't care so much about medals anymore, but he definitely still cares very much about performing well and showing the whole world his gorgeous programs. I think he also questioned why he, of all people, was so unlucky. It's only human. But I hope he overcomes this quickly and can show us a FS that he's happy and content with, regardless of the outcome. Most of all, I hope he stays healthy in every way, physically, mentally, and emotionally. 7 hours ago, Mary_kyo said: You know it doesn't matter now, but I believe Yuzu was going to skate Rondo so beautifully if the hole in the ice wasn't there. His 4T+3T was just so dreamy. I'm mad at Universe, because it took away our chances to see the greatest SP performance ever. He skated the rest of program in shock. Idc about the scores but if it hadn't happened, I think he could have gotten 111 again. My heart is broken into million pieces, I'm not joking. No shit. I was devastated for him after his SP. But he still has other chances to show the beauty of Rondo to the world. I just hope he stays healthy and takes good care of himself. 6 hours ago, Mary_kyo said: Did you just read my mind? And I fear he might lose the motivation in 4A too. I'm not ready for what might happen. I don't think so. The 4A is his childhood dream. Yuzu is the strongest person I know. He wouldn't give up a lifelong dream because of a failure, no matter how painful. 5 hours ago, shanshani said: Yikes. Can only hope that whatever comes of this, it ends the pattern of women's skaters risking their bodies for at most 2-3 years at the top. This is what I'm hoping, too. I really hope this will be the end of Eteri and her abusive system. 5 hours ago, Mary_kyo said: So it was Kami, just a teenager. This will be a huge scandal for Eteri and RUS. There goes the dreams of a young talented teenager. It's sickening how Eteri and her people have been exploiting, using, and discarding young girls for their own fame and status. I hope there will be repercussions. 5 hours ago, shanshani said: I feel like in figure skating it's a race between how much your body can handle, how quickly training regiments change to teach harder elements to younger and younger skaters. Skaters' actual athletic peak would be later, but the problem is they accumulate injuries/are outcompeted by youngsters who learned quads at a younger age due to changes in training regimens. That's why Yuzu's longevity is remarkable. It absolutely is! But I'm afraid the way figure skating is going with more and more emphasis on quads and difficult jumps, rather than the whole package, skaters' careers will become shorter and shorter. 1 hour ago, Mary_kyo said: The rumor is that RUS will keep the team medal but Kami will be banned from individual competition. Very nice. The way they are battling for that worthless team medal. That would be outrageous. Shouldn't there be rules that state what should happen if a skater gets disqualified? In ski jumping team competitions, if an athlete is disqualified, that athlete's points are deducted from the total score.
February 9, 20224 yr If it's that drug, then, imho, that's worse than it being a diuretic like I had speculated earlier... unless, of course, she has a real heart issue that they refused to exploit for publicity when extolling her other exploits.

I read on twitter that that drug does not have paediatric license EDIT I checked this: Trimetazidine is not recommended for use in children and adolescents Source: https://www.practo.com/medicine-info/trimetazidine-280-api 2nd EDIT: and this!
February 9, 20224 yr This is my first Olympic as a fan and already i am losing my mind with how many mistreatment, misjudgement and misfortune that happened to Yuzuru this Olympic.People seems to forget that his a two time olympic champion and i guess Yuzuru is right to fear that all his legacies will be forgotten just like that.I now understand why almost all skaters retired after winning the Olympic gold. Its pain me to see Yuzu like this.So i will not be following Olympic. And will come here to see for updates only on Yuzu and praying that he be able to come out of this healthy and in good place physically and mentally.I love him so much as a person and a skater as he help me so much during my difficult time in life.If Yuzu decided to retire after this i hope he can do his own ice shows globally and do it at time of fs seasons so that ISU can have a taste what is like to not have fans anymore after this.
February 9, 20224 yr I was watching PYC2018 with my partner right now. I missed that feeling of pure joy while watching him achieving his dream. In few hours, we will have a new Olympic champion that Hamilton and Boitano were pushing for years. Universe helped them too. But I take this as a sign that maybe in order to fly high for the 4A, Yuzu should drop all those heavy burdens on his slim shoulders which includes the title of the “reigning Olympics champion”. May Yuzu fly freely after Beijing. He may lose but I’m sure in future he will gain bigger.

Even then, there's a process to go through. Athletes have to apply for a therapeutic use exemption to use a medication on the prohibited list. They can't just test positive and then claim it's for a medical condition. Edit: Out of curiosity I pulled up the TUE checklist for a condition I treat. It's extensive, to say the least.
February 9, 20224 yr i dont follow women skating for many many years now but ofc i heard about the first quad in women news and i looked up her name to see who it was and the pictures had her looking really sad, she didnt look like someone that made history. i worry about her mental state and the circle around her. i hope she can be safe soon.
February 9, 20224 yr Does anyone know if Yuzu will attend practice? I think I read that he won’t but I can’t find it now This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
February 9, 20224 yr It's about an hour and a half to Yuzu's practice - anyone know a livestream link I could use (I'm in the UK but have VPN)
February 9, 20224 yr This is an article in the Wall Street Journal. Yuzu is helping to create world peace just by being who he is. [NEWS]

Yes, that's my plan too. I totally hope that he will do global ice shows. I think he might just have the energy and time for ice shows in Japan though. I am definitely saving up my vacation days and $$ so I can see him in-person once in my life.
