I don't know if he has the toughest mentality to skate last AT the Olympics WITH the pressure for his 1st OGM. That is a massive pressure. And most skaters will crumble under that. If Yuzu skates clean, that adds even more pressure on Nathan.. I kinda admire how optimistic you are. Many skaters have shown that you almost always skate better when you have the confidence that judges are on your side. It's a big help to know that even your stiff wobbly jumps, bad spins and non-existing transitions will be rewarded to high heaven. On the other hand, Yuzu knows that he has to be perfect to be rewarded the same amount of points, and even his good jumps/spins could be judged as underrotated or invalidated. Let's be hopeful but prepared for anything.

They might be between a rock and a hard place here.

But I have prepared myself for the most realistic result rather than miracles so that I can cope with it easier. But sure miracles do exist. I'm actually going from my realistic phase to my hope phase.. I feel really bad knowing I may not see Yuzu receive the plushy and medal he deserves... I really wanted to see him at the podium at his last Olympics. It seemed such a nice way to say farewell to the GOAT of figure skating...
February 9, 20224 yr If the speculations were true and they disqualify only the ID team.. Team Japan may win Gold via tie breaker

They would have needed the 8th place to get sport funding for the next years, if I remember correctly..... Oh yikes. That's just a painful commentary on how uneven and difgicult to get sports funding can be
