Malinin delivered well today and if he can continue that he could do probably top 6 finish in Beijing with relative ease I would, as well, maybe. He has a lot of potential. But that's a really big if, and he hasn't ever delivered like this internationally. Olympics for his first big international event would be a bit crazy. But, well, USFSA is full of dumbasses, so I'm sure no matter their decision we'll all be pissed off anyway. They do seem to have a talent for that.

The truth is Ilia already deserved the gold here. I agree. Ilia clearly delivered the best performance tonight. His jumps look to be of much higher quality than Nathan's. Nathan has been so spoiled by his ridiculous overscoring the last couple of years that he never had an incentive to work on his skating and improve. He only had to do the bare minimum and is was enough. To me, it actually looks like he has regressed this season in comparison to before.

January 9, 20224 yr Sorry but I just laughed out loud when the commentator was annoyingly saying 'he's better than anyone' and then Nathan fell during his famous ChSq. After the SP he had another skate with a nervous performance. He's regressed quite a bit recently, not that his scores reflect that (actually judges still don't know the PCS cap when serious erros like falls happen, at least not J6, J7 and J8, one of them even being an ISU judge...). So the question is, will they send three quadsters or do they want to send a PCS skater and will they then let Ilia stay at home (just like they did with Ross Miner when he won silver in 2018), or perhaps Zhou? Since Vincent didn't get URs (only two qs) and they helped him to stay on the podium it seems they are sending a message and they want to see him in Beijing. Also Dmitriev's 4A looks better than in 2018, I'm sure he was the one who Mishin consulted with - but why did USFS said ok, come here at age 29 & compete in the US? His skating is so incredibly weak it seems his only goal was to show off his 4A. And all this happens after Yuzu's 4A attempt at Nationals, and right before Olympics. It's suspicious.

January 9, 20224 yr I was thinking about the similarity between the US Repubican Party's "The Big Lie", and the US skating fed and their "Big Lie". These things tend to seep down through society. I think there is such dishonesty in the way the skating federation in the US operates. (I know they are not the only one) We might get angry with JSF but there is a dignity/honesty in the scoring at their Nationals, and they never diss Nathan, in fact they praise him, as does the Japan media, where as the US seem to do everything they can to undermine Yuzuru, or just ignore him totally imo. Johnny joining in with gusto is particularly galling, and commentators like Simon from British Eurosport too.... I sincerely hope that karma arrives at the right time next month for all those involved in this US figure skating big lie.
January 9, 20224 yr Guys, do you think which FP Nathan will bring at Olympics? Apparently, he was not comfortable with Rocketman today. But this season's Mozart is (I am sorry!) not at all good program.

He seems to be blaming the programmes, rather than looking at why he is struggling this season with the consistency he has enjoyed previously...not a good way to address problems and find solutions I wouldn't think

January 9, 20224 yr Please announce the spots, I hold on to my 1% of hope, and I want to go to sleep, next week is gonna be super stressful for me... and somehow I have to know
January 9, 20224 yr No need to get too concerned about the announcements. The Covid wild card has not been played. Anything can still happen.
January 9, 20224 yr Lmao I sent a friend that clip of Nathan's choreo sequence. Her thoughts: "Magikarp on ice" "His costume is like a 3 year old did finger paint" ...can't say I disagree
