Somewhere sometime ago, men's skating became known for it's technical difficulty along with consistent splatfests. So it's a breath of fresh air if Yuzu does a clean FS, and the other guys minimize their splats. Then we finally will have a quadfest that is not a splatfest. I think to a degree, that current men's skating, if you want to go super clean, the max is at 5 quads, so when the younger guys push for more than that, I cringe because it's just asking for a splatfest. even if they "clean", I can't tolerate the long preparing time and awkward take off plus funny landing...Sorry my eyes hurt. A picture is just a picture and might make him uncomfortable if he notices but decides to say nothing. In this case, I wouldn't worry because they said he shook hands with the photographer... he's just too nice... That photographer is not a fan. I think real fans pretty much die before they/we even approach him. Show off your Poohs on your bag...Poohs can talk for ya... Link to comment

This reminds me I could have asked Nathan for an autograph outside of the Arena in Helsinki but he was with other people and he was walking pretty fast, so I actually only stared at him and saw him get in line for a taxi... I think my decision in that case could have been the wisest - but you never know. (Like, specifically, he was with a girl - maybe his girlfriend? His sister? I mean, I didn't want to bother them either way). I also saw Nathan but didn't approach him... cuz I dunno... he's good but it's not like I'm a fan, hard to explain... but at the same time I was happy to take picture with Patrick cuz already at Barcelona GPF I found out that at some moments he has quite a funny side of the personality (and I ran into him so many times there I really think I should already had asked for a pic back then ) Link to comment

If I had enough courage I would probably try to talk to him and tell how much I love and appreciate his skating but I very much suspect (knowing myself) that I would just freeze there unable to move or speak Hahaha, I know I'd freeze up because it's already happened to me (with Yuzu). It was in Boston at 2016 Worlds (so, not exactly the same thing as running into him randomly somewhere away from skating environment) and there were NO other fans around. It was after the competition, either after exhibition or after exhibition practice. I was leaving the arena after waiting some time in line for ladies room so the place had pretty much cleared out and as I walked by a side entrance to arena (where the skater's buses would normally pick them up, but the buses were not there) the door opened and a group of skaters, etc from Team Japan walked out the door. Yuzu paused before coming down the steps to be sure the coast was clear (the buses were on the street about 100 yds away and I guess they knew that because they weren't surprised the buses were not at that exit.) I immediately froze and waited for the group to cross in front of me. I thought for an instant of pulling out my phone and taking a pic, but I would rather try to say something nice instead of sticking another device between us. So, what did I say?? (ugh, so mad at myself) The only thing that came out was 'Congratulations!', and bowed my head. He bowed his head back. He was very close! I could have grabbed him but of course I would never. My only consolation is that as an obvious gai-jin (blonde and very tall) I was proud to represent his foreigner base. Satoko and Mao Asada were also with him but I didn't say anything to them, just Yuzu. Since I was headed in the same direction, I followed them from a distance as they walked toward the buses. Then Javi ran right past me (even closer than Yuzu was) also headed to the buses. I think I also said Congrats to him but I was way too much in a daze over having made eye contact with Yuzu to remember. I think I was walking a couple inches off the ground, for a few hours after that. Link to comment

If they look particularly busy, I wouldn't bother. I saw Shoma coming back from practice but I didn't bother him because he seemed in a big rush to get to his room. I saw Sui/Han who I ADORE and wanted to congratulate them on winning, but they were headed to the elevator as well so I let them be. And then later I met Xue Shen (one half of my all time favorite pairs team) and she was friendly so that made up for it lol. Link to comment
Winnie_20
Lol that reminds me of Nathan at Helsinki. I was with a group of Yuzu fans standing around in the concourse and saw Nathan walking by... and I was like, wow, *nobody* in the whole group was interested (or even noticed). Then a few minutes later, he walked past again and same thing. We were too busy talking about more important things, obviously. ;-) It just makes me chuckle every time. Link to comment

I was there at that point, lol. But I had also met him before. We weren't too far from the entrance and I remember the group was trying to make sure we weren't saying anything explicitly about him. One thing you have to be very well aware of at these events is that skaters are everywhere and can pop up at any minute. I snuck into the ice dance free to see the Shibs skate and I was in the corridor. Who ends up behind me without me having a clue? Misha Ge! I saw Yuzu after the medals and he bowed at us but they kept it moving. They were either headed to the press conference or they'd just finished. For Boston, after the the medal ceremony my friend and her sister in law who had kick ass Row A tickets were directly next to this elderly Japanese lady who dropped her scarf on the ice. Yuzu skated by, picked it up, gave it to her, and he politely nodded. My friend's sister in law was recording at the time and Yuzu looked so angelic and sweet. I don't think anybody else has that shot of him from that angle. I should have stayed on her about sending that video to me. I don't know if anybody has video of that moment but I did record it myself from the exactly opposite side of the arena. I just never uploaded because Boston was such a drag. Link to comment

Smultron
I'm feeling nostalgic today. Remember how in May this Planet was a baby and had a purple theme and all? I was confused by the security warning at first and didn't sign up but gave it a go a day later and discovered so much happiness here - one of the best things I've ever done Link to comment

My friend said that Nathan was super nice and looked very pleased to sign for her 😀. Now , who's at the same rink as Yuzu? I'm also wondering if it is too much for my friend to ask Nathan for Yuzu' s autograph.... Link to comment

I saw Yuzu before SP practice in Marseilles, I think audience entrance was on one side of the arena and skaters bus was on another. So when I was about to head to the entrance I saw a familiar figure with Kikuchi-san... seems like that day Yuzu came by taxi. There were very little amount of people around, while I thought to take out a photo or not he was almost near the closed zone, but I hadn't thought about approaching him that time cuz running after him and disturbing before practice just didn't seem right.
