The ACI gift throwing is often cited as an example of bad fanyu behavior, but this is not accurate because throwing plushies on the ice for 2018 ACI was actually permitted. Here is the link to 2018 ACI. Click on the FAQ tab. https://skatecanada.ca/2018-autumn-classic-international/#tab-77d9f8c37b2dab40425

It's true that gift throwing was not permitted in the ACI events prior to 2018 and many assumed that the restriction was true for 2018 also, but that was not the case. A satellite emailed Skate Canada and got confirmation that gift throwing was allowed. I personally asked a staff member when I arrived at the venue and she told me that I can throw a plushy on the ice, but if I wanted to leave a gift specifically for a skater, I should put it in the gift box instead.

That was why so many plushies were thrown on the ice at 2018 ACI, not only for Yuzu, but Canadian fans were throwing plushies for the Canadian skaters too. They had sweeper girls, but the girls looked like beginner skaters so did not clear the ice that quickly and Yuzu pitched in to help.

In contrast, the FAQ for this year's ACI clearly stated that it was prohibited for fans to throw gifts onto the ice. That's why no one did it this year. I only saw maybe about 6 Poohs tossed to Yuzu, but it's possible that those fans didn't read the FAQ.

Yep, the cheering at 4CC this year was just as loud as at any comp Yuzu attended. In fact the US fans gave a standing ovation to every US skater.

Sorry that I didn't make myself clear that I was referring to 2019 ACI. Yuzu obviously wasn't happy about it in 2019. It may be because of the rule changing each year that causes confusion.

Folks, just like the tweet said — if you wanna find out your own Yuzu cocoa monstrosity you can play this game!

...for the record, mine has whisky, a sprig of mint, and maple syrup in it :xD::LOL:, what's in yours?

I was thinking WHO would add Chilli Powder in cocoa then I remember that shall be in Yuzu's cocoa too. But he has tons of chocolates and me? whipped cream and peanut. What the...

Gonna rewatch his real concoction to replace this image.

My cocoa has whipped cream, caramel pieces and hot tamales.

Never tried tamales before but I love caramel:clap:

I think you might have misunderstood your ingredients a little! Hot Tamales are a chewy cinnamon-flavored candy, not to be confused with a regular tamale. I highly recommend you try both at some point, but not at the same time, and certainly not in your hot chocolate.

I just realized 2026 olympics is in Milano, Italy. 🇮🇹

I don't know whether Yuzu will go to Beijing 2022 olympics, but I hope to see Yuzu as a coach or choreographer in Milano.

Yuzu's skating career is very poetic. His first olympic gold was in europe, his 2nd OGM was in asia, and if he goes to Beijing and wins, his last OGM will also be in east asia.

It will be nice for him to come to an olympics as a spectator, coach, commentator or choreographer in Europe after he retires, where it all started (his 1st OGM was in Europe).

I highly doubt Yuzu will compete after Beijing, but if he wants to do what Dai did (unretiring after retiring in Sochi) then I will be the first to jump on a plane to see him compete.

I imagine Yuzu doing Japan Open after retiring for a few years though. And maybe doing Team Event for WTT.

Oh I see, thanks:biggrin:

I have never heard of both in my city but hope that I could try them one day

So you defended Kavaguti's comments without actually having read them? O...kay. Well, I did read them and I stand by what I said yesterday. I think some people are using "semantics" to give Kavaguti a pass by claiming that she was only criticizing a small subset of fans, but there's actually no indication that that's what she really meant and there was no reason for her to drag Yuzu's name in at all if her real goal was just to complain about some Japanese fans not meeting her personal standard of the proper way to be a skating fan.

Literally said I was responding to the semantics and not the comment. Now that I've read a translation of the comment, I stand by what I said. Kavaguti clearly implied that she meant fans who are problematic, not all fans of Yuzu.

Semantics is also a very real field of study, so no need for the quotation marks.
