micaelis
It's hard to believe but it's now less than two months to the beginning of the new season. We know Yuzu's going to be at the ACI but we don't really know who else will be there. After those early season B-level competitions the serious stuff begins but Yuzu's not on the line next until early November in Helsinki. Hopefully Helsinki will be as good for him this time as it was the last time. Considering there's only two weeks between Helsinki and Moscow, Yuzu's next stop, it really might not be worth having to overcome jet lag two more times by going back to Toronto between the two (Moscow's just one hour difference from Helsinki). Yuzu has trained independently for as long as that before and the long time between the ACI and Helsinki would allow him to fine-tune his program before the GP series begins for him. Then, after Moscow his next stop is Vancouver three weeks after that, long enough to head back to Toronto and prepare for that final international contest of 2018. There's just three hours time difference between Toronto and Vancouver and I think it likely that once in Toronto Yuzu would make his daily activities there follow Vancouver time so he wouldn't have to readjust once he heads west. At this point we don't know whom he will be facing at the ACI but we do know that in Helsinki he'll be facing both Boyang and Mikhail Kolyada. Kolyada is one of those skaters who are essentially dark horses. Sometimes he skates at elite levels, other times he doesn't quite do the job. Boyang is the real threat there and is, in fact, the greatest threat Yuzu faces before Vancouver (unless he meets one of the heavyweights at ACI). In Moscow he skates against Kolyada again, as well as Dmitriev. They are threats but only if Yuzu bombs. If he skates anywhere near what he can ideally do he should have no worries there. Then it's GPF time and time for Yuzu to start building a new streak of wins. If he wins there he does achieve a new record since nobody has won it five times (Plushy did it four times but unlike Yuzu's four they weren't consecutive). After Vancouver Japan nationals come up and Yuzu probably should take back the crown he lost by default the two previous years. Just more frustration for Shoma. Yuzu then presumably will go to 4CC and (we hope) finally get that gold that has eluded him so many times. Then comes worlds where he finishes the season in (we hope) a burst of glory. I think this season we'll find Yuzu more relaxed than in the previous four. He's set no goal (at least publicly) beyond getting a 4A and being the first to do so. If he's beaten to it my money right now goes behind Stephen Gogolev who might, in fact, set a very weird record if he's the first to land a 4A and does it while skating at the Junior level. I'm actually more interested in seeing how Yuzu deals with the rules changes which, IMO, actually help him more than the other elites, mainly because of his advantage on the PCS side of the scoring board as well as his superior jumping quality (It's not just the quads, it's the quality of his quads - Johnny Weir). No less a commentator than Kurt Browning is mesmerized by Yuzu's jumping, saying at one point that these jumps are dropped from heaven and Yuzu 'is just the right guy to catch them' (GPF 2014, FS). I know some people here are worried about whether Yuzu will be fully healed by the time he starts competing again. I'm not worried, since he captured gold at PC even while still not fully recovered. Even if he is still holding back he'll still be in a position to win. As one of the British Eurosport commentators said about his FS performance at GPF 2015, 'take away the jumps and it's a masterpiece'. He was recognizing the fact that Yuzu is not only a complete skater, he's the skater today who defines 'completeness'. That, in my book, is a winning formula. Link to comment
Pammi
Awww - check out this thread (if you haven't already!) (It didn't make me cry at all.....) oops sorry for changing topic too! but I liked what the poster said about HYK so much, and thought you might too! (though we all interpret it differently to one another no doubt). However we interpret it, it's beautiful, and will get even more beautiful is my guess Link to comment

monchan
I hope isu made more events in Korea. Korean fans' fancam are all in 4K with SUPERB quality, excel any official broadcast. I always look at their fc of yuzu and others whenever i want to rewatch, not the broadcasts ones. Even the fancam for their LOCAL JGP qualifiers are in that high quality! And now i'm here thinking I have to watch Yuzu's new program for the first time w that subpar ACI streaming Link to comment

The amazing thing is that most of their venues ban video cameras and stuff. But they know how to hide it really well. Link to comment

My initial reaction from seeing the pic is that Yuzu needs to start using gold marker to make signature. Link to comment

Streaming though was a no no. I was facebook live and then got banned from being able to post videos temporarily. I think that was an IOC thing. Link to comment
