Absolutely adorable. I feel like Yuzu, age wise, could easily be Brian's son... and the fact that Brian, as coach, sometimes has to take care of Yuzuru's plushie just makes Yuzuru even more child-like to his eyes. Brian knows Yuzuru's story way better than so many, so I am sure he accepts this childish part of his and even feels affection towards it (plus, he sees Yuzuru when he is the absolute opposite of child, fierce and mature and strong, so he knows there's a balance lol)

I don't feel nostalgic at all. Yuzuru is the same Romeo he was back then. The same pure, naive fierceness and passion. I bet if he put on the Romeo costume today (would it fit? mmmh... maybe too much muscle now xD) and did the program, he would find within himself the same spirit he had back then, and maybe he would be surprised by it too. The only thing I could be sad about is that when he was growing up and giving the world such treasures already, I had no idea he existed and I was living a miserable, lonely life. Not that now I'm happy because of him excusively, but I think he would have been a hope, for me, growing up, and instead I only got to know him when both me and him were already, basically, adults. I hope lots of adolescents and pre-pubescents will get to see him, because he really goes a long way to show that fighting is always worth it, whatever monster you are fighting, whether it is outside of you or inside of you, or maybe both. This program is more than just a figure skating routine. Yuzuru takes you so deeply within his own heart and your own heart, you're really not sure where you are in the end.

Tonight I dreamed that all the skaters were going on a bus and Yuzuru sat on the driver seat, and I could enter the bus and sit right besides Yuzuru... then I asked a friend of mine that was close by "Wait, is this a dream?" and she replied "Yeah, it probably is." But I didn't care and I kept throwing glances at Yuzu for a while.

Oh wow... I just noticed a moment in this performance I had never noticed before... at 1:46, when he finishes his second spin, he looks around in a frantic way, then closes his eyes and covers the sight with his hands and arms, skating forward... it cluched my heart when I noticed it. So genuine. Who knows how Yuzuru must have felt like, amogst that horror that was the Earthquake and tsunami. But it's always there, ready to surface, and somehow I believe that skating to it is a way for Yuzuru to defeat that fear, by creating something beautiful, which him and everyone else can breathe in and enjoy. Skating has become Yuzuru's ultimate weapon to fight with those ghosts that always haunt him. Maybe that's why it seems like he is motivated in a different way than most. Well, he is. He is always going to be different. *goes back to sobbing in a corner*

It's like he had to show himself he could be rough and masculine. Well, I won't say he needed to show it to us, I think most of his fans had already saw glimpses of that even in his younger performances, like Romeo... (his Romeo is extremely masculine, tbh). But I won't say I didn't appreciate it
-
Yes please LGC as an Ex Also, Yuzuru talking about his own "rough masculinity" ... Yuzu, a warning, maybe, before you say such things?
-
Longest three weeks of my LIFE. (For other reasons too, but for Yuzu as well) Already August has been the slowest August I have ever lived through.
-
Wait, so... since his case this year is blue and red, and we know for certain Chopin is going to be blue... does that give confirmation that we're having a RED. SEIMEI.??

tbh there are so many sweet ways to eat Paprika! When it's raw, it's pretty bland, so I don't like it either, it's kinda bitter. But cooked, with its skin off, grilled, or made in creamy soup, or cooked in a skillet with chicken... chicken and bell peppers is a staple of roman cuisine! It's so sweet and tasty! I don't know why I'm taking all this paprika talk so seriously
-
"What tastes worse, Yuzu-kun? Paprika or Kuyashii? Paprika or Kuyashii?! Eat those veggies, win those golds!"
-
I guess... maybe telling him that eating it would increase his 4A succes rate by 50% would work...
-
Could that be that also he wants to compete to Finland this year because he feels like Finland is a good omen to him? It was said before that his relationship with the country is a good one, and he likes competing there. Im just gonna leave this here
-
HAHAHAHA brain theatre mode on: Patrick: *wakes up in the middle of the night, cellphone ringing. He picks up* ...Hello? Yuzuru: *Whispers* ...I'm coming to Finland too. Patrick: Uh? What? Who are you...? Yuzuru: *Whispers* And I'm winning that gold. *Hangs up* Patrick: ...*Sweats profusely*
-
Exactly what I thought at the time, pfffft.
-
Me too. But I'm very convinced he will stay with the sport as long as he'll be on top of it... which it pretty much as much as he wants it...
-
Because the 3A is mandatory? :c Oh well.
-
Or LGC as SP for next-next season? With 4A?
-
In general though, I don't trust the "let's go with what is less dangerous, let's go with the mainstream, let's go with the popular" reasoning. It tampers innovation and originality. I like warhorses, but there are so many classical pieces that have rarely been used. So many less classical pieces that deserve to be skated to. I love Chopin and I'm glad Yuzuru skates to it and I think it suits him perfectly. But I don't thing LGC would have been a wrong choice, only because it is less 'globally' appreciated. Each performance is to be judged individually, there's no use to comparing such different performances. In the end, Yuzuru is the one being unique. So, both Chopin and LGC are masterpieces. Hopefully, we will somehow see both at the Olympics, one in guise of Short Program, and the other in guise of EX.

Competition Commentary & Translations (Spreadsheet)
Murieleirum replied to gladi's topic in Translations
Worlds 2017 Helsinki - Green Room and various YH comments - ITA ESP (Max Ambesi and Angelo Dolfini) (The video shows Nathan's FS in slow-motion) Max: Angelo, what has Hanyu done! Angelo: Hanyu has done a performance for the books, Hanyu is the greatest skater than has ever stepped on the ice in the entire history, period. There has never been one like him and I don't know when there will be another one, because- Max: It's not WHAT he does. It's HOW he does it. Angelo: Exactly. And what Nathan Chen did is clamorous, but Hanyu has a quality... he fell two times, Nathan, Hanyu made zero mistakes, he succeeded in every element like it was a joke for him, terrifying. The quality of the 3A, of the 4S3T in the second half, anthological, how he skates, truly. He has no equals. When he's like this, others have zero chance. But, really, we are watching the performances of the greatest of history, and maybe the Palmares won't say that, maybe he won't win as many competitions as his talent allows him, but he's simply unique and unreachable. (After the scores for Nathan are announced) Angelo: Yes, Nathan's potential is amazing and he can potentially be a threat even for Hanyu - NOT if (Hanyu) skates like this. (The beginning of Jin Boyang's FS) Max: Let's move on to Jin Boyang, from China. The man who changed the discipline. Because, before Nathan, there was him, with his 4 quadruples, now 5. Angelo: Yes, he sort of primed the pump of it all, Hanyu somewhat made us understand that that was what he was aiming for, that was the road figure skating was about to take, but Jin told us the way clearly, and he even encouraged the Japanese (Hanyu) to go beyond his limits. (The end of Jin Boyang's performance) Max: We've seen... how many different quadruples? Four? Angelo: In the first group? Max: The flip... no, we've had the Flip with Chen. We've seen everything - except the Quadruple Axel - that Hanyu tries in practice - careful, I shouldn't say this - and lands it. Angelo: Yes, some of the landings (Boyang's) have less quality, clearly, than Hanyu's. Max: Attention, the 300 is coming. (Boyang's scores appear) Angelo: Yes, here it is. Max: They are four in history: Hanyu, Fernandez, Nathan Chen and Jin Boyang, who deserves all of it for what he gave us today. Amazing. (The end of Shoma Uno's performance) Max: This is a warrior. He's a warrior for how he fights for every element. Maybe on some elements he doesn't have the same quality as Yuzuru, but many times he seems like he's gonna fall and he stays on two feet. (Fernandez' FS shown in slow-mo) Max: This is just the appetizer of what we're gonna see at the Olympics, next season. They're gonna be an exclusive. Angelo: It's gonna be a battle to the death, with quadruples as their weapon, here Hanyu gave a proof of strenght that's absolute, but let's not forget Nathan Chen's absolute technical power, he had 110 technical score with two falls and changing the program on the go. Max: Yes, we can't take anything for granted, the fight is open. It's not by chance that Yuzuru is training the 4Lz, that he lands well in training, and he has the 4A (working on it LOL). Shoma Uno is gonna put the 4Salchow (planning to), AND he dreams of the 4A as well, Fernandez is gonna have the 4Loop. Next year, we really risk to see programs made of only quadruples and 3A. Angelo: Scary. Hanyu cheers for Fernandez, he knows the title is his. Max: So, Asian podium. Japan had already had two medals with Yuzuru and Machida in Worlds 2014 in Saitama. This win is heavier. Yuzuru is celebrating, he's letting loose. Angelo: He gave life to a performance that we're gonna remember for a long time. 321.59 with a disappointing Short Program, but the best Free Skate in history. Max: Ever. With all respect for the stars of the past. They were exceptional, Yagudin, Plushenko, but we've seen something beyond that. Angelo: And Uno's performance... wasn't even that far. Terrifying, him too. Japan has put the fifth. Tanaka is in the 19th place but the other two have done good. A scary double win. Three spots for the Olympics. (Highlights of the Free Skating performances) Max: We have a well deserved replay for the new World Champion, Yuzuru Hanyu, second title. Today he was amazing, world-record in the Free Skate, a performance that is already in history. Angelo: And after that performance, what does he say? "I have to practice harder". Max: He's incredible. There's nothing to be done about it. -
Plush obviously lacks the ability to appreciate certain specific virtues of that program
-
I'm not forgetting it. It's one of the things I loved the most about it and firmly believe Yuzu would be able to manage it but I guess I'll be happy even if he only keeps it... AS AN EX
-
Sad to hear he wanted to do LGC after all... I wanted him to do it too... LGC is my favourite Short Program ever. It just is.
-
I don't think he considers a NOT Isu ratified 4A as a real "First 4A" The kid has no chill. It HAS to be in competition. Anyways, I'm really curious to know why this gossip spread at this time precisely... maybe someone saw something... something that we cannot see for ourselves but only imagine... just 17 cm more, not that hard to imagine...
