  1. Thank you @¯\_(ツ)_/¯ for the translation now I feel *shook* too, I blame you for that Yuzuru isn't saying anything really new, but somehow I always kind of push all of this out of my mind (for sanity, you know) for a while until he slaps it again in my face. I'd rather have him take it easy for once, but he doesn't work that way and as a fan I can only resign myself (oh, I can see what was left of my peace of mind packing and bidding me farewell for the season) If putting this kind of insane pressure is what he needs to perform like he wants, then I'll just increase my stash of chocolate and alchol and bite my nails wait. Though I hope Brian and all the team will help Yuzuru find some kind of balance, so that his self-imposed pressure doesn't end crushing him Matsuoka-san I feel you this reminds me of mushroom Yuzu declaring he was going to be an OGM. And he was true to his words. In a way, being his fan is a bit like that, going through some very low "downs" and then get very exhilarating "ups" that more than make up for the downs. I'm so happy that Yuzuru can still have fun when skating and competing, I'd hate to see him come to dislike/fear competitions like it's happened to Yuna and Daisuke. And I hope he can smile from the bottom of his heart in PyeongChang
  2. Yeah, but I can't bear the deep kuyashii I agree that for ACI and after that knee pain popping was better than falling multiple times or fighting for each landing, all considered. Lots of valuable lessons for Yuzu. Though I really hope he's exhausted his quota of pops for the season
  3. maybe after SEIMEI 2.0 breaks some more WRs...
  4. while I was watching live the SP, I held my breath from the moment the music started to when Yuzuru rolled his head... I swear, it was a damn long timekinda used that to slow down my heartbeat It felt like awakening just in the same moment as him I've rewatched ACI SP three times in a row today and every time I've ended just like this Of course then I've also paused and replayed a lot of few times everything the parts that melted me the most. And then I've watched a fancam of SEIMEI runthrough and I was I still have to gather the courage to watch again the whole ACI FS though... happy for you I was quite lucky myself, I'll be travelling next week and I'll lose the whole JGP bloodbath competition, but at least the week of COR I'll be home (me and my wi-fi, a love story)
  5. I got the feeling they're soon going to be 10 in a row... the final will be very scary interesting. Good luck to all the girls that will compete next week, I don't know how they can survive all that pressure... ETA: when did I become Let's Go Crazy?
  6. I think there are five episodes in total, so only the last one is missing (I need more) Thank you @¯\_(ツ)_/¯ for bringing the 4th episode! (I had to pause it so many times to read all the subs, he talks soooo fast... and then I had to replay a lot of parts some more just to enjoy Yuzu's gestures and tone of voice or just be mesmerized by his laugher) Wow, there were so many parts that made me LOL, and sometimes laugh and wince at the same time, like when Yuzuru talks about the CoC collision or the tale about the delayed 2A-"Let's make it a 3A instead"... really, this guy And he said he used to be bad at jumping (Axel being somehow the exception, tho) who would have though that Maybe he just needed to find his rhythm for the jumps. Amazing how now he can jump so beautifully I need to quote this gem around 15 minutes mark: -Do you make a point to check out other skaters' performances?- -Like.A.Hawk.- Watching Yuzuru talking is so entertainig, he has a very animated and nuanced way to express his thoughts, and I like that this translation tries to convey all of this. And yay, so many onomatopoeias I loved the talk about Chopin 1.0 too, and about spins and the different "impression" they leave (wow Miyamoto made Yuzuru even more fastidious about spins). What struck me the most, though, is how much Yuzuru laughed and seemed to relax and have fun during the show. It's really a joy to watch.
  7. wow @kaeryth is super organized as always (and thank you for proposing Change I love how extra Yuzu is in that ex without those horrid gloves from his junior years) I'd add the TEB 2013 NDP, please (NDP deserves a bit of love) And 2017 WTT Swan + LGC encore is a must maybe we could also have the PW encore from FaoI Niigata 2017... btw I was thinking if Yuzuru will ever skate to RJ2 again... I'd be very curious to see how that costume fits his current more muscular body. Wait, no, I don't know if I want to see that
  8. Hello butting in to comment on pages ago (LOL this is becoming a habit, sorrynotsorry) @kaerb you are so cruel now I must go and watch some soul-cleansing H&L Anyway, I had already read that interview but I couldn't find it anymore, thanks for the throwback I've realized that the tone of this interview starkly contrasts with what Yuzuru said about his Boston experience and his foot injury in Aoi Honoo II. In Aoi Honoo he kind of shrugs the whole thing off and tries sounding reassuring and positive, while in this interview he finally reveals the extent of his struggles, mental and physical alike. I think it's the kind of thing one can make after going through something bad, when that bad has been finally overcome and one can look back at those harsh moments with some kind of internal peace. So Yuzuru could talk about all of that in such an open-hearted way exactly because he had gone back to the ice, and he could skate and jump again, and the worst was behind him. Also re-reading again his words, I'm even more reassured Yuzu won't rush and endanger his health anymore. Exactly because he went through all of that, he has matured a lot. Of course his instinct is to still go out and train as much as he can, but now he has a clear picture of how and why rushing isn't good, so he's more willing to listen to his coaches' advices when they tell him to take it easy (I still doubt the initiative to take it easy comes from Yuzu himself ). proud *elder sister* feelings here *wants to give Yuzu a bear hug because she feels just so proud* so, if the 4Lz were to have problems, they'd fix them by training more difficult things...like 4A... just saying ETA LOL why jpn media seem to always choose the most awkward photos...that picture of Yuzu's fall is so hilarious..and his face after that, too
  9. *still bitter for that 97.08 in Helsinki* LOL I was just waiting for an excuse to use all the angry emoticons, it's oddly soothing to stare at them all lined up for a few...minutes...I'm laughing at myself right now About Yuzu wearing glasses (LOL, I know it was pages ago ), iirc a while ago the subject was discussed at lenght and the consensus was he needed them for reading at least, but likely his sight is good enough (not perfect but still good?) to allow him to skate without needing lenses. Or he may be wearing contact lenses, there are types which can be custom made and can be used for winter sports too, but I don't think that's the case. btw, as someone has said before, there are a lot of skaters who use glasses (though I don't know if their percentage is statistically larger than that for average population), it may be linked to the glaring of the ice. I think even Shoma has been seen wearing glasses recently too, right? About Yuzu and his (lack of) fashion style: it's adorable funny that Yuzuru doesn't care about what he wears, as long as it isn't an hindrance while he is so fastidious about other things instead. The guy has his priorities *thanks all the skating gods that Yuzu feels so comfortable in UA* *but wipes a little thinking about all the missed fitting suits...* *and laughs at that too. It's just part of Yuzu's charm being so...strange*
  10. I must have dreamed that 30% because I couldn't find it sorry(there must have been a time when 4Lz had that 30% though) I'll edit my post
  11. maybe he found the way to turn into a fly and slip inside TCC... more seriously, are there italian skaters or coaches at TCC? Or maybe Max has so many international buddies... btw he's not always right, back in 2015 he thought Yuzuru would rather drop his 3F as third jump and put 4Lo instead for a 3 types of quads layout, and we all know the 3F stayed sorry, maybe I'm wrong, my brain is kinda scrambled right now (and I'm following a thousand threads). I remembered by GPF 2016 the success rate was 30% for Lz, I'll have to check
  12. yeah, maybe because spread eagles are a "grand" element, elegant and easy to see...I mean, anyone can recognize a spread eagle at any speed, back-counter is way more tricky... About 4Lz... I still don't feel I can trust Yuzu's 4Lz (waiting in anxiety to see how he'll land it ). I hope that he trusts it with good reason, as he's including it in his FP as the first jump (that pretty much will set the tone for the rest of the skate). I guess that if he is training it for the SP too, it must be quite trusted in training, he knows the importance of a cleanish SP. Just praying for smooth addition in competition too (and please no pops Yuzuand no suicidal training either, keep being a good child you don't want to kill your warm and supportive fanbase, right?) (Also...remember when last year 4Lz reportedly had 30% of success rate? Now 4A... though I have to listen that passage again, to be sure) edited because my memory majorly blundered, I messed with the stats
  13. I'm listening to Max Ambesi's podcast too. Tbh is really so much stuff, I don't have the strenght to make a translation because it gets really detailed about things I don't know that much but the amount of detail is also what makes you really understand what is the difference between who makes generic talks and who really knows the sport and the athletes too. He talks at length about the qualification spots at Nebelhorn and about what are the chances for different teams, he talks about Junior GP and Eteri's girls (a little bit about Adelina Sotnikova surprised me as a Yuna fan, so I have to catch up with some of Adelina's programs now and look at them without any bias) Now I'm listening to the part about Yuzuru and Max bluntly recommends to compare Yuzuru's jumps with those of one particular skater (or more correctly and for fairness, to compare some specific jumps from one particular competition of that particular skater) to see what is the difference between Yuzuru and others, and I laughed because I'm half sure such words would be considered bashing by some people, when it's only a reasonable "spot the difference" exercise. (Not talking about anyone on PH, just thinking about some things I read elsewhere) Then he praises Jason Brow (best spinner and programs packed with transitions, but lacks the 4 rotations), also Patrick Chan's jumps when he's on (the quality of his jumps and Yuzu's is superior to that of the others). I snorted when, talking about FS layout for this season, Max said "4Lz, 4Lo...in theory 3F that could become something else, like a 3Lz (LOL for a moment I was thinking he was going to say 4F) but let's go on with 3F" Sorry Max, but I don't think Yuzuru would ever dump his 3F , like "who cares that 3Lz has no risk of unclear edge from evil Flip-hater tech panel higher BV than 3F. Scores....what are scores? 3F has been there, is there, will always be there" (the only element that he's being doing as third jump for ages Yuzuru moved all of his jumps from first half to second, changed combos, added rotations, but that 3F is as stubborn as the OverlordTrollzuzu) and now I take a break to watch Nebelhorn
  14. I think it may be this. I don't think he usually hits the 3rd bullet either (varied position in the air / delay in rotation), so that would mean max 5 bullets, so +3 would not be "recommended". It would be one of those times judges actually follow the rulebook recommendations LOL But yeah, if Han Yan had been from some more powerful fed he might have got more generous GOEs. When he's on the jumps are big and with flow, beautiful to watch though not someone else's level of beautiful, sorry, I can't help it I think the same applies to Boyang's 4Lz. It is a gorgeous, huge jump but it doesn't hits the bullets for the complex/creative entry and judges are most scrupolous in following the rulebook.
  15. the whole thing is just so hilarious and so Yuzu poor Yuzu, even if he shrugged I'm sure he was feeling a tiny bit pissed, like "the hell, another thing going wrong" I wonder if he wanted to do the Biellman, has he done it in practices or during the OP days in Toronto?
  16. Sorry if I am interrupting more serious talks for some mindless fangirling, but I've finally watched the subbed video of commented GPF 2015 SEIMEI (many thanks to @gladi for that jewel of a video, and to @kaerbtoo, that made that speed translation a few days ago) so...(dancing pooh represents quite well my current state of mind) I confess I was a bit meh about the new costume, but seeing it in HD made wonders (despite the performance) and now I absolutely adore it yes, I am such a fickle girl And I love the way Yuzuru moves his hands while watching his performance, just how on heart can fingers look so good... I would have a lot to say about more serious things, like how Yuzuru talks about the pressure he faced (imho it's quite telling that he would call it fear), or the bit about his closing gesture after he ended the performance, but my mind is still dazed like so I'll pass for now
  17. Afaik it's quite common for italian athletes to be part of some police or army section. It's one of the few ways they can get some fundings to keep competing. For example our universities have no such thing as sports programs, so athletes from less popular sports, like figure skating, fencing (pluriOGM Valentina Vezzali), artistic gymnastics, diving or even swimming have to enforce in special police or army sections so they can receive training and a salary. If you are curious there is this article http://www.ilpost.it/2012/08/03/perche-litalia-ha-atleti-dei-corpi-militari/ (here google translated in english for your convenience ) I came here for the pumpkin king! ETA: wow that program is goodso entertaining! I liked which one was again Jordan Dodds SP too, but I have still to watch the FP. ACI was a good way to get to know more skaters while biting my nails waiting for Yuzuru
  18. I confess I laughed histerically hard at your recap of ACI's free skate And yes, I too felt uneasy when I saw Javi skated after Yuzu. Boston alarms went off, I should have listened to my gut more, maybe I would have spared myself a bit of kuyashii . But luckily the context was entirely different, so while this ACI FS has been worse, the meaning of this defeat for Yuzu is on a whole different level than his Boston Worlds one Yes to this! GPF 2014 is my reanimation skate, both SP and FS (better with ITA ESP commentary, love the little jabs they make). It was such a redemption skate! It really showed that you should never think "he can't" because Yuzuru can and will, and there was such unbridled joy in how he reacted after both programs too, just Wow, that's some serious dedication seriously, teach me your ways sensei more looking for the bright side, yay! I am weirdo, I find the whole "Yuzu talking to himself like a madman" endearing that video makes me shamelessly squeal for so many reasons I'm so envious happy for all the satellites that could worship see Yuzu in the flesh!!! And talk to him! And cheer him on when he needed it. And see him smile and throw his death glares around and be adorkable up close!!!!!!! And I'm sorry @SSS that you couldn't get the FS tickets (which reminds me that I have to seriously pray that Yuzuru will go to Milan and that I'll be able to get my hands on the tickets because I really need to see him live at least once ) Also...dat feeling when you go to sleep at the same hour the previous day you were getting up to watch Yuzu skate...that skate.
  19. Good morning fellow satellites! Well it's already past 1pm for me but I've just woken up after going to sleep at 8 am (luckily I had no dreams at all ). Here the weather is all gloomy and rainy which matches my mood wonderfully and it's rather ironic, given how sunny and warm it was yesterday BUT I want to remember ACI for the wonder and bubbling joy of watching Yuzu's perfect Chopin unfold before my eyes, so I'm going to put that program in loop and melt myself with a bunch of Yuzu smiles and cuteness and antics while I play catch up with the threads Thank you satellites for sticking together and being so supportive And thank you Yuzu, being your fan isn't easy but you always make it worth it, even when you don't make a perfect
  20. Sorry I don't think there will be any any spare piece I'll need all the cake while I wait for Yuzu to skate (yay for pulling an all nighter for yuzu! How lucky are we european fans )
  21. I'm baking a coffee chocolate cake, so I'll have that covered The relax&breathe part will be harder, but my rational part keeps telling me if it the knee problem was anything really serious Yuzu would not be competing at all, so I'm trying to keep my anxiety in check positive vibes, positive vibes
  22. Damn I've just realized I'm gonna miss the open practice because I will be on train and wifi on board sucks and even if I had more data traffic there are too many mountains and tunnels so no signal at all (And I'm making paper swans to fight boredom while I wait my train LOL) Anyway have fun watching zuzu!
  23. Nooo poor Yuzu I hope it isn't serious. It looks like he just can't have a smooth start of season ever but what matters the most is what will happen later on, so just pls Yuzu take it easy and heal, no need to overdo in this competition
