  1. OMG, Yuzu, put. us. all. out. of. our. misery. already! New... anything. I know you lurk!!! It's driving everybody and their roommate grandmother crazy!!!
  2. And, that's the question, isn't it? Everyone and their grandmothers know Jin has the talent. Whether he has the drive to use it to get that Oly gold, tho... Well. I mean, I am setting my expectation really low right now. He could still just choose this and win in 2022.
  3. This is partly me dealing with Zuzu withdrawal, partly bcz I follow Alice on tumblr and partly because I am looking forward for Shii-chan coming back after having her baby boy: Shii-chan and Stephane's collab on FOI 2015: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obT542o6OsM&t=100s (not embedded, but clicking on the link should do the trick. If you haven't seen it, be ready to melt) Shii-chan as Aphrodite: (Too many shot on Bocelli, which is understandable considering his international status (BUT, he is a singer, I want to HEAR him, yes. I want to SEE Shii-chan more!), but still lovely regardless.)
  4. She posted a tiny D10 on his 25th birthday: Truly. My heart goes out to Denis' family, friends, coaches, training mates, and fans. I still can't believe this is real.
  5. Can we have the boring off season of yesteryears back, please...
  6. Has this been posted? I mean, I... *sigh* I'm not sure if this program just needs to grow a bit more or anything, but... Mai deserves better than this uninspired choreo, honestly.
  7. That's exactly what I thought too! Whoah, there! That smile, Zu, I'm sending my funeral bill to you. How did they cut Abe in this, tho? I mean, I get it. But still 😂 Sooooo, now that we have Hanyu-family crest, serious question. How frowned upon would that be, if I start having pins and stickers of that everywhere?
  8. It is the forum. I don't understand much of it either, but the skaters have to rank quite up there in the previous World Championships to be granted an assignment. Their World rank also plays a part in there. Hosts can usually extend invitation to skaters who didn't get an assignment, so there's still hope.
  9. I'm frowning at Mai and Wakaba's assignments. Can they both have a break yet? I am sure Yuzu will be fine. And now I have to strategise so I can go to either Helsinki or Moscow. Fingers crossed.
  10. I don't think he sings along tho, it was mostly lipsync, probably bcz he knows he doesn't sing well. Let's face it, Zuzu and Uno can't sing. That's why they didn't. Their musicality probably only goes as far as recognising and skating to the music. Which is okay, cz that's what's important for them. I mean, if I turned out wrong, I'll be happy, too!
  11. I'm LMAO at the theater that Zuzu isn't singing!!! But Kana-Chris harmonizing was nice.
  12. Idk precisely why for you other skaters extended arms feel unnatural, so I can't answer that. What I have noticed is that skaters with excellent edge control (Chan, JP men including Yuzu, JP ladies, Russian ladies) do not always extend their arms when doing crossovers. I haven't studied the other skaters as closely as I did Yuzu, so I can't be totally sure. For Yuzu, I think we all know that he doesn't do many crossovers to begin with because his stroking is efficient enough that he can minimise the number of crossovers in his program. Additionally, he prefers to use chassé to increase his speed. Skaters like Machida, for example, extend their arms during crossovers to create the upper body lines. Machida in particular used to sort of reach his arms backward instead of raising it to his sides. Chan used to move his extended arms by crossing them over. So, there are cases when even if they don't need to do it, skaters extend their arms anyway because they just like to do it. After all, extending the arms during crossovers is actually the most natural way to do it.
  13. Precisely. Crossovers are done mainly to gain speed (unless you're Uno; his team put those gazillion crossovers he doesn't need as a part of the choreo), and so they need to lean their body forward for better aerodynamic. But that upsets their balance and so they need to extend the arms to not fall on their faces.
  14. I love the new EX, 春よ、来い !!! I know it can always be improved, but I am just basking at its current beauty. I am sure I'll miss it when (if) he does tweak around it a bit. Also, this just makes me realise that the reveal of any new program, competitive even more so, will be insufferable just as it always was. One season of Zu recycling has blinded me to that. I am gonna go back to lurking-and-skipping-posts once the moment arrived.
  15. It is precisely because they now make it even harder to tell boys and girls apart, they might as well judge them as ONE single discipline. Want to save more money and time right? There you go.
  16. I've got a question. Are there any more distiction between what's required or allowed for ladies and for men? Bcz if not, ISU might as well merge the single disciplines together, perhaps starting in Junior. We all know those ladies would eat the men alive; Trusova's ultimate dream finally will be fulfilled.
  17. In the context of what my post was about, it was just a reminder that if you say Yuzu wasn't an elite skater when he moved to TCC, you imply that what Nanami-sensei did with him was not as great as it was.
  18. Many people might not remember or simply wasn't there when it happened. But I remember when Zu moved to TCC there was such an uproar bcz he was already achieving high and people doubted the move to Orser would turn out well. Of course those who doubted were proven wrong, but there was a reason the uproar happened: Yuzu was already an elite skater under Nanami Abe. Can we please properly appreciate what Nanami-sensei did with Zu (bearing in mind this all happened without full support by JSF, bcz Sendai) and not diminish it? TCC is great for Zu, but he wasn't a nobody when he moved there. ETA: since some has been commenting on the last part, yes, I know we all have the utter respect for Nanami-sensei. BUT, in the context of the whole post, if you say Yuzu was not already an elite athlete when he moved to Orser, you imply what Nanami-sensei did with him was not as great as it was, ergo you are diminishing her work. The post was a whole, I apologise if it was not clear enough it's what I mean.
  19. I know this must have been posted in the event thread, but look! The newly regained 4T!
  20. It's a condition called nocturnal lagophthalmos. Zu once said that there must be at least 2 situations he would look unattractive: when he is sleeping and when he plays video games. The former is because he sleeps with open eye(s). The latter because he gets into weird positions and makes all kinds of weird faces while playing.
  21. They announced it in shinkansen too... Congrats, bby! And what a statement.
  22. This came across my tumblr dashboard, and it reminds me of when Yuzu said his sleeping face might be scary since he sleeps with one eye open. Not really a meme, but it makes me LMAO so hard, I fell from my chair. The most awful sleeping face in Japan: ... I'll see myself out.
  23. Gif of the layback spins abound, courtesy of Alice (after being held accountable by gif police for not including gifs in her answer about Yuzu's layback spin. LOL!) And Pretty!!
  24. It's a conversion app, it should calculate the old GOE range into the proposed range. (It also still has 8 jumping passes)
