There won't be any safe vaccination, at best before two years. I would flatly refuse any large scale hazardous experiment, particularly when one know the general problems with vaccination against previous coronaviruses, which are still endemic by the way; as this disease is becoming in the most advanced countries (chiefly East Asia). And when one know what they have tried as medicines against SARS-CoV 2 : the potential market is so huge, and governments are willing to pay so blindly, that any scruple is wiped and we may end even worse off with dangerous vaccines (there are...) than with SARS-CoV 2. I took the koala game at 4CC, as announcing a wish to go to Sydney 4CC. After all, if he wins there, won't he be the first ever to have win all Junior big championships + twice all Senior ones? A nice aperitif before third OGM.

Well, there is an official calendar, with GP trophies later than usual by around two weeks, but nobody know if they will take place. ISU recommended cancellations to be announced 10 weeks at least before the event.

Thank you! I'm glad to learn Ari Zakarian has exposed himself as fabricating all those awards. I am unable to despise anybody, but I copiously despise those awards and, yes, you're right, they are getting much more attention than they deserve; maybe, in Russia, because Zakarian is Evgeny Plushenko's agent? I see no reason to attend them, or even to give them any attention, even if they try to lure us with some Yuzuru-content. And as to Alina Zagitova, sometimes I find her underrated here, particularly relating to the precision and speed of her steps, I am grateful to her to have attracted me back to figure skating after three decades without (which eventually led me to click on a Yuzuru Hanyu video), she's a beautiful skater and a nice person, but how to compare one of the best skaters of the moment, with the best-ever skater by far, who made an art of figure skating, who invented a skating dance language, and who has all artistic and technical perfections?

Once again, while I (personally) much prefer Céline Dion's voice to Lara Fabian's (as in "Je suis malade"), the song was written by Jacques Brel, who sung it too, and I prefer his interpretation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ne_me_quitte_pas

I like her very much and I really don't know what they could complain of. She's still the reigning Olympic and World champion, after half a season off which her bones needed, and has resumed training at Novogorsk with her team. I could not be happier for her.

Asclepios was a Greek deity, of supposed pre-Greek origin. But the two Egyptian statues are from contemporary officials, one from the 5th Dynasty if I remember correctly, and the other from the 18th dynasty or before. They were no deities. Well, as to the face, this man from the State of Yue (fifth and fourth centuries BC), in spite of his moustache, looks a bit like him, don't you think? Some scholars believe the Yue people were ancestors of the Yayoi, one of the two founding people of most Japan. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baiyue#/media/File:Yue_statue.jpg

Where does he come from? We have long wondered if he was an alien. But didn't he come from the past? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ancient-Greek-Bronze-Museum-Statue-Replica-of-Asclepius-God-Of-Medicine-1105-/142277673941 The Final Time Traveler...

Montréal for Ice Dance... The centre of gravity may be somewhere in-between?

It has already been done by a fanyu, who proposes her translation if you send her a proof you have bought the book (I suppose it can be the Taiwanese version). Sorry, I don't have the link, I think it was given here? Months ago. What would be even nicer, is the "real, paper book" (or two...) in an English translation. Ichiroya.com for instance, from Osaka, who used to retail old kimonos and bolts etc, and to send them abroad, ceased their trade last week. They are still managing the current orders, but don't take new ones. Edit : Monchan posted this about English translation of Aoi Honoo (p.5627) :

Well, it seems that was his narrative to get the contract.

As it is a French magazine, do you think it may be useful to translate your post in French in the French thread of the International section? I could do it.

With Madison Chock? I wonder if she couldn't bear him on her knees in a demential circle in spread eagle... Rocky Sharpe passed away on December 5th. He made me think of (late, too) Patrick Topaloff, then imagine a duo between Yuzuru Hanyu and Nobunari Oda in this parody of Grease, where abusive and "trendy" Topaloff demands his grey shirt ("où est ma chemise grise?") to submissive and belated "girlfriend" (late...) Sim : I am sure they could play it very well! I'm afraid my mental health is suffering from drought.

I checked and didn't see it had been announced here, so although it's old (November), Nobunari Oda has eventually had a daughter after his three sons. There was speculation about when he could make his round-the-World travel with his wife, as projected in his 2015 Kobe discussion with Yuzuru Hanyu and Baby Shoma Uno.

They may be searching Princess Kaguya. And she may be searching Yuzuru Hanyu? Isn't it that he has so complex emotions, more than with other pupils, yet the language barrier is not blurred enough to have a perfect communication? Well, if he speaks technical terms with Ghislain Briand, the language barrier is much lower usually, so communication is easier, yet the relationship may not be as deep. Even without speaking of affection (and I believe there is a lot), do you see a pupil of his he could identify better with as a skater, a sort of "ideal of him"? (I don't pretend he's falling into the trap of projection, either.) Which of course makes it hurt more when they disagree — and we know they do sometimes. Fortunately there's "Mama Tracy". But as he doesn't have that much of a "PR mode", he cannot be that good when feeling so much. I hope they will go along well with Zoom between them.

Then, what I don't understand, is why, while Evgenia Medvedeva is so busy laying traps for herself (in France we say : soap her own plank), a newspaper should feel the need to invent this? May it not be a mere "work from home accident", the redactor having misunderstood what the informer said?
-
I don't see the link with Inna Goncharenko? Anyway, I cannot understand how Evgenia Medvedeva's mother, who must be well aware of restrictions and perspectives to skaters entry in Canada coming from Japan, could believe Rika Kihira could fly to Canada when allowed, self-isolate during two weeks, then have a summer camp, fly back to Japan and self-isolate again during two weeks, so little time before the beginning of GP season?
-
Probably. Then he chose very well : an (officially) unspoken truth, which everybody can see, and which offends so many. This helps to understand how he could stay so long at the head of French Federation, and what a seasoned politician he is. As to Brian Orser "not standing for him", I think it is more complex. 1) Brian Orser's weak point seems to be PR, and he knows it and won't launch something he's unable to manage (and I much prefer him as he is, rather than a tyrannical and politicking coach, I am so grateful of TCC coaches part in Yuzuru Hanyu's incredible skating); 2) Yuzuru Hanyu himself may have asked him not to protest. At least, given we are near New Moon (so no Red Moon), we can be reassured this is not a Vegan saucer announcing an attack. (UFO Robot Grendizer, very well adapted in French, was the beginning of my love story with Japan. ) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grendizer

"According to Ito, the weights of the costumes she creates for men (usually around 850 grams) are more than double that of the women (normally around 350 grams)." Of course there's the weight of pants, plus the difference in size, but this does not make all the difference. This must be why I find her Men costumes "fall better" than her Ladies ones (which are still gorgeous). And with this number (850g) how can poorly inspired male skaters costumes (the like, chino pants and off-the-shelf shirt or T-shirt) have any justification?

Junior Skaters of 2019/20 Season
SitTwizzle replied to sallycinnamon's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
And sooo... http://jfsia.jp/memberlist/member001.html Third from the end of the (first) page, the first coach name you gave me, Shu Nomiuka, is "director's staff" at "Single" Ice rink Sendai. Which means Mone Chiba is probably still skating in Sendai. Thank you @Paskud ! -
Junior Skaters of 2019/20 Season
SitTwizzle replied to sallycinnamon's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
Thank you! So this belonging to category B, doesn't necessarily imply she's going to Senior? We will probably know where she competes before two months, when assignments will be announced... You must be right about Nanami Abe, if DeepL translation of her Wikipedia page in Japanese is accurate. It says she is now working as a choreographer, and represents Miyagi to what must be JSF? (FSC in Latin letters in the text)
