  1. Wasn't he? Technically that's what he is : forced to speak about those mock awards.
  2. Should he be able to do this (and why not if there is still no hope about ISU; after all, Krystian Zimerman, who is not a dominant character, has set up a purpose-fit special symphonic orchestra he conducted himself, just because in spite of all his experiences with many conductors, some really great, none had done justice to Chopin's orchestration in his two piano concertos, and Chopin remained unjustly seen as a great piano composer but a poor orchestrator; a project of 20 years though, released in 1998), it could not be during his time as a competitive athlete, both for lack of time and conflict of interest. I think he has a great capacity at assessing people's capacities, much beyond what most of us could imagine he may get from a common acquaintance. And he is a born leader.
  3. This time I don't have Yuzuponbitch's special permission, I hope she won't mind, her last video is about Yuzuru Hanyu's social interactions with other skaters :
  4. Could Citizen be acting in retaliation for their letting underscore Yuzuru Hanyu PLUS the recent half-veiled bashing? May it give ideas to Lotte and Kosé?
  5. I don't know if this post-Olympic interview of Yuzuru Hanyu and Shoma Uno has already been posted? I had just seen a very short extract and I found the whole both funny and informative. And cute (but I generally find Shoma Uno cute/endearing).
  6. That's another proof of bias and cheating in our hands, with the lying bio. Thank you! Quite enlightening. Without even knowing Ari Zakarian's fantasy for Oscars (and having been rather a cinephile himself but never bothered by any sort of awards), when my husband saw me preoccupied (by the fuss we were making, me the first, about something so despicable) and I told him, he answered me it was doubly a scam : 1) it's like if you have bought a movie ticket but what's projected instead is Oscars ceremony you don't care about; 2) there is another sort of scam, like in any "artificial event creation", to try to provoke a short-lived peak of adrenaline and control us in a way or another. I was shocked when he told me how even the most commonplace things were made up into "events". And there, no way to believe Ari Zakarian have done so in the back of ISU, they bought it consciously. I find it utterly stupid because figure skating is naturally full of rather real events (particularly whenever Yuzuru Hanyu is concerned) and we have so many adrenaline pikes with him (the famous roller-coaster), and their low-level mock Oscars look so insignificant comparatively.
  7. I had read a hint about the agents problem but I haden't imagined the extent of it, and your explanation makes things show so logical! And there, what are the links between IMG and Ari Zakarian?
  8. Javier can be written Xavier, but in Spanish or Basque (it is a Basque name, which etymology is "etcheberry", meaning "the new house" or "the large house" or "the house in good condition", a very common Basque name; it was the name of the feudal domain of St Francis Xavier's father, their family name being de Jasso) it is pronounced sort of "kh", a hard "h", or sometimes "sh", but not "x". In French, though, it is usually pronounced "x" (not the only phonetic difference in the name), in some regions even it becomes s. The coincidence being, that St Francis Xavier was the first evangelist of Japan and seems to have fallen in love with the country, while the first embassy from Japan to Spain set out from Sendai (sent by its founder Date Masamune) — and there are still descendants of part of the crew in Coro de los Ríos, near Seville, some 700 of whom still bear the name Japón. This is one more reason for me to be moved by the "Yuzuvier" friendship, sorry if it is a bit out of topic.
  9. I very well know "there is one thing (...) which a man can always do, if he choses, and that is, his duty" (Emma, chap.18) but here 1) we have already discussed what he could do and how it would both crush his medical career perspectives (even his health : his injuries will always need support and in US it is not granted), of course his skating career (while he is a great skater, it would be a loss), and this to little or no avail; 2) he is not "manoeuvring and finessing" like Mr Knightley suspects Frank Churchill to be doing; 3) though major of age, he is really dependent on his mother and she has a strong will, if we believe his coach Rafael Arutyunyan; 4) he doesn't have a dominant character, like Mr Knightley or... Yuzuru Hanyu, and this is neither a fault nor to his reach, he is like that (and that seems to have been Daisuke Takahashi's main problem, by the way). When I see "must protecc' at all costs" about Yuzuru Hanyu, but really... Of course he is very grateful for any help but he's in command, he knows what he's doing and does what he wants (and not whimsically, always thoughtfully and listening to others' advice). Nathan Chen has more a character of an excellent second, helpful, intelligent but needing somebody to tell him what to do. I hope he can survive this ordeal.
  10. That's the silver lining. I mean, we can have whatever personal feelings we can/want (I personally, have already been very long into despise for that whole Awards b...s..., I am at no risk to get short of that feeling thanks to French author Chateaubriand's wise advice "to give one's despise with parsimony, because of the great numbers of the needy" and being unable to despise a human being) about the offence made (I would rather say, meant to be made) to the greatest ever skater, who is in addition a wonderful person and whom we love. But taking things rationally, it shows so blatantly how biased they are! It's not as if they should give some half-argument, here they really give us a good weapon against themselves, and by their own will, nobody needed to show them a bait. I am greatly satisfied. This will always be handy in any "debate" with pro-Chen (or other haters) trolls. PLUS, I am really relieved if Yuzuru Hanyu doesn't have to deal with those awards, if he can just ignore them as they deserve. Because, if he's named for an infamous "award", he cannot ignore it as it comes from ISU; or he may hamper the future of JSF in ISU. It is not as if he was the only possible retaliated (then he has no hesitation to challenge, as we could witness several times). Of course, not having to be present for some ceremony, it would be easier in any case to send some double-sided shading thanks. I am much more concerned for poor Nathan Chen, who has asked for nothing, nor intrigued in any way, who is not a "valuable skater" in terms of economy and attracting a new public only by the fault of ISU who didn't let him grow as a complete skater, "second only to legend Yuzuru Hanyu and (with a big dose of furbish) his worthy successor but still younger and less experienced" and made him to undeservedly outscore Yuzuru Hanyu, certainly to Nathan Chen's greater distress (Yuzuru Hanyu has more inner resource to face this injustice; and anyway, such sort of injustice is usually rather easier to face when directed against oneself than when one benefit of it, isn't it?) Because, you know, if judges were more fair, yes he would never be first, but he would be second and would still motivate Yuzuru Hanyu (for instance in acquiring quad Lutz), and he would be so much better as a whole and pleasant to watch. He would be at ease with himself and the world, of course emulated by Yuzuru Hanyu, and certainly too, hugely popular not only among American fans, and able to attract a new public and new skaters, and he would certainly sell merch and seats and TV rights much more than he does now.
  11. Mental restraint I suppose? I mean, he is deep in his preparation for the practice, and he's not merely quite good at collecting, he's a champion at it. If he "works as" a scientist I know, he doesn't need special exertion because his usual focus suffices. As to us, we just have to watch and enjoy, because the result is gorgeous.
  12. 1) That's exactly the point... Fortunately, to this date the order page is much too hermetic to non-Japanese speakers, isn't it? 2) That's a convincing proof. 3) Do you mean, there would be no refund even if the buyers were legally forbidden to attend?
  13. I didn't even dare to watch his programs at Nationals, after those three jet-lags (and two back) in a month (and now we learn there was something more), but if I understand this, Otoñal was good? Anyway, if Fuji are still standing against Yuzuru Hanyu, they may have taken these choices as a slap in the face.
  14. I think it is possible to have a contest if "special quarantine rules" are accepted, with assigned hotel, secured transfers and a rather normal practice. And risk would be virtually zeroed if in addition to this, people could be admitted into this regimen only if their predictive biological data are good (C, D and K vitamins, T-cells).
  15. Do you think it is that? They seemed to be mostly targeting themselves in that bitchy fit of theirs, and "only incidentally" Bradie Tennell. What I don't understand is why Tara Lipinski put it on her Instagram account because it was so mean and, as you all said, bringing something to that nest of abuse. And I don't understand why they haven't sent apologies yet.
  16. Yes, they needed a special permission allowing foreign skaters and coaches a special quarantine, with assigned hotel(s) and secured practice and transits, which is far from being easy. Yet I hoped.
  17. Technically, I tend to think a reduced JGP (and GP too) could be maintained with as little as 3 trophies and the final, accepting 8 finalists for instance for each category, and with only one assignment allowed per skater. If only successful South Korea (4CC without contamination + whole management of the epidemic) could manage to hold additional events... I know it wouldn't be easy but it would make an Eastern Asian location.
  18. What a pity! They needed not accepting a wide audience but I hoped JGP organisers would manage to hold the events with skaters, coaches, staff well protected and a more local audience. This is not a good sign about JGP in general. I hope there will be a season at all.
  19. I wish you are safe and will remain so, and can work nevertheless!
  20. I don't have a Twitter account but even non-registered people can access Twitter accounts from a link, so I would be very grateful if you could give us one.
  21. This page shows the trend in Japan for given names. The girls 6° and 7° begin by the same "Yu" as Yuzuru, haven't them? I am a bit more confused about the boys 1° and 4°. Don't they have a sort of "Ha" like in "Hanyu" but as half a kanji? Sorry, I don't read Japanese... https://livejapan.com/en/article-a0004519/?sc_lid=lj_pc_article_r_new_frame_4
  22. I won't buy the "most embarrassingly infected" story, though. There are countries far worse-off than US, usually for a similar reason (too much power of Big Pharma). But US tend to think themselves as first everywhere, while French people tend to think they are "unrecognised first". So do I. (French numbers are the most visibly "worked", but in fact I doubt real French numbers are worse than Belgian ones. Our only real first place must be in the proportion of undetected cases among "developed" countries, for lack of testing except one day mid-April and two weeks in early May.) What I'll admit to you (if one can believe video reports) is a greater lack of social distancing, particularly since a few weeks. We've had it in France too, but probably not to that extent. And the hopes are not wonderful as both our countries have "bought" one more "medicine" narrative. (Very tempted to send a photo of what NYT called a "bromance" but I thought it would become too political.) I'm afraid it is a Canadian wife (or husband) who is in demand at the moment, nevertheless. (Sorry, this I couldn't resist.) And as says @IceWings, if they let in somebody from the US, then they can let in, maybe not from everywhere, but at least from Japan (and particularly Tohoku) or South Korea, who are managing things so much better. @fyere0 I tend to think she is essential to his living in Canada, but may not be accepted as such. Of course I'm sure there would be a great many candidates willing to take an unpaid leave to prepare him Japanese food as planned by his nutritionist and wash his laundry and go and watch him at TCC, but he also needs peace of mind.
  23. Things may have changed, but I checked the rules a few weeks ago, and basically you must be registered (before March 24th?) at an university, there is a list and TCC isn't on it. But who knows, maybe Jason Brown could register early at a Canadian university, or he's at an US university which have an exchange program with a Canadian one, or (unlikely, I know) he married a Canadian resident or citizen... or he got permanent residency himself, though this seems so much harder than in Europe. Or another situation I don't imagine. Or TSL is giving inaccurate information.
