I can't watch videos at the moment, but on the first of these three photos she has a smile à la Ekaterina Maximova.

The flower kids had let the tide cover the rink before starting fishing.

Can skaters breathe during jumps? Of course this would rather belong to General Skating Chat.

Exactly (about Gabriela Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron). Puzzling. Though it is legally feasible (if they managed to enter Canada, they can leave the country whenever they want, and they don't have to self-quarantine, not even to test if things didn't change recently), and understandable if they mean to go to IdF, and not so risky if they are prudent, I don't see how they could go back to train in Montréal afterwards. Maybe they plan to train in Europe part of the (hypothetical) season? About French CoViD policy.

As they are on the program for Ice Academy Montréal/Jordan Ice Show on September 11th, I thought they had managed their way back to Canada, but the Masters at Villard-de-Lans are from September 24th to September 26th so?

One could have guessed that Runrun8383's humour would be as tender as her watercolours. @Ladysci and @sweetwater I hope none of you will be hit by any typhoon, and there will be no victim.

You're right, the "serving in" is likely to be only for skaters already in France before the competition.

For Grenoble, this part is not a problem as tests can now be taken for free in France, even without medical prescription, even without being eligible to French Social Security. Sorry, the link is in French. https://www.gouvernement.fr/info-coronavirus/tests-et-depistage So, a poor skater and team (hoping they have behaved prudently before, which obviously not all visitors in France have done this summer) can get an appointment in Grenoble via this link for the day of their arrival, and they will have a result to provide to GP organisers — though we know one test is not enough, and another test should be taken some time later, but this is another question.

Can it be watched later, for people who can't watch it at that moment?

I was rather expecting a rush on Enio Morricone's musics, but I don't see it. -

Yuzuru Hanyu: Discussão em português

Podemos fazer-lo vivir (eu com os meus hispanismos e gallicismos ) mas não acho muitos vídeos subtitulados em português no Youtube, por ejemplo. -
I did, thank you for the correction! My favourite too, so tender, poetic...

Off-off-topic then, I have read everywhere assumed that he still wore his "baby" costumes in shows and exhibitions, but I have always wondered if he had not instead, a grown-up version of his early costumes, given how much muscle he has now.

That's SEIMEI effect. (Abe no Seimei being chiefly remembered, if I understood well, for his — maybe self-fulfilling — prophecy that the Emperor would resign.) Yuzuru Hanyu (sorry, my awe may seem strange, I can joke about him but I don't feel equal to call him by his sole given name, not to speak of a nickname, though I don't mind reading him being called Yuzu or even Zuzu by others) is really, such a kind, considerate fans gardener/keeper. He gave us the happy news of his having finished his thesis, and a serious one it seems to be, along with many crumbs/watering, just before announcing he will not go to GP, a thoughtful and somehow relieving decision, but nevertheless sad to learn.

Thank you! I find it rather expensive : 7000¥ for both days, that is more or less 70€ for a live stream, neither a live performance nor a record one can watch again. Do some satellites know if it is in line with other events? Are they likely to sell many tickets? Is Yuzuru Hanyu likely to skate there, in which case I guess they will sell a great many?

2020/2021 Season Program Announcements

Thank you so much for having taken the trouble to translate and explain. At the end of his dancing life, Nureyev was but the shadow of the great dancer he had been. And given the little I saw of "Nureyev" by the Bolshoi Ballet last season (not the dancers' fault), Mikhail Kolyada is likely to pay Nureyev a better tribute. -
I suppose they won't be let enter without testing and/or quarantine, as we do in France except from very few countries (which need just one negative test), probably to collect and cultivate all possible strains (sorry, my jokes are not necessarily funny).

Does the end of this article mean she will compete in Europe for GP, or is it a problem of translation? -
I know a case, in France and in a particularly (and early, one can say since around 1990 in US and later elsewhere, before that, in France and probably elsewhere, sexual abuse was somehow considered okay as long as there was no evident physical violence, horrible as it sounds) targeted institution which in most of its parts managed to change the culture of silence. A teacher in a Junior High School showed a weird interest in a 14-year-old pupil, his colleagues noted it and spoke of it to the headteacher, who convoked the teacher, and the latter confessed his attraction. The headteacher told the parents what had happened, and advised them to go to the police. The police told them that as long as there had not been indecent touch, not even proposal, there was no infraction so they could do nothing. Of course the teacher was barred from teaching — and never taught anymore. Well, he was not basically a predator, he had not organised a web of collusion to protect wrongdoings, but this shows that aware adults can efficiently alert before any irreversible act is perpetrated. What is necessary is awareness of the risk (also for children), and well-oiled processes to act against, or better to prevent wrongdoings. Of course, this is not as good as if nobody thought of ill-using the weaker. Much can be done early, and I regard the "new" (a bit more than ten years I think) Early Years Foundation Stage in England as highly promising (sorry if this is seen as political, I think it is supported by the three government parties though, maybe others), it may prevent a great deal of bad habits starting from bullying, as well as detect parental abuse, when fully implemented because not every preschool is able to, to this date; yet we are told that there will always be tares and we cannot eliminate them totally, or we would waste good grain in the process — although the parable has a religious origin, I think the thing itself is hardly questionable.

I would like to thank the person who thought to put Ienai Yo on PlanetHanyu Twitter, because I had never seen it! One more watering!

A trilogy in four parts? But since Douglas Adams' Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, everybody know a trilogy has five parts. What about your level in Japanese? I'm absolutely wild tonight. I wonder why? I'm so happy! More seriously, I think a research can work the same (Bachelor-Master-PhD or even more, developing from an initial subject) in other fields, even humanistic ones. From a close relative's experience, a trap when you have already in mind the spin (or more) of your PhD, is to put (or want to put) too much in the initial thesis, occasioning delays.
