  1. Wasn't that what he wore for Olympic silver in the battle of the Brian's? Surely Y would think it was bad luck ?
  2. For me I have to include PotO 2 and Chopin 1 because they were the ones from my first season watching. I loved the collar on PotO 2, and the black wrist ruffle and gloves and the heavy gold braid trimming. Then both R&Js - loved the design, colours, sparkly bands, colour - everything about no1. I know the majority hate the 'boobskirt' - I didn't mind it and I loved the black & white, the lace, the jewelled edges, etc. Finally Seimei- I wouldn't have known where to begin trying to approximate that cumbersome antique costume into a skating costume and think they did a great job on it.
  3. I think your English is great - I admire the effort all the non English speakers put in here.
  4. He might take a leaf from Yuzuru's book and go for a historical hero - El Cid? If he does please God let there be an interesting costume.
  5. It's Shomas landings that bother me most. I slipped on a step a few days ago and did a superannuated version of his twisting knee bend in order to save the tray I was carrying - the way it's been feeling the last few days I feel sorry for him in 10/15 years time - if it takes that long.
  6. I wonder how new could it be, you can pretty much replace music from one program with another and it'd look just fine, cause he uses that same arm movements and same glares. Another piece of info from PIW - he was asked about his sleeping hours, and apparently he sleeps from 8 to 12 hours a day. Wow. Really? No wonder he's always about to drop off in press conferences
  7. I became a fan through Japanese gymnastics! I always liked figure skating in a casual way- my mum and I watched John Curry in 1976- I'm possibly the oldest person here. The problem is that apart from exhaustive football coverage UK TV tends to only show the big sporting events- Wimbledon, Ryder Cup, Olympics- so you only get to see other sports on those sorts of occasion. T&D gave fs a boost in the 80s but that only lasted as long as they did. The internet was the game changer- you could watch whatever you wanted as often as you wanted so that not only could you enjoy it, you began to understand the finer points a little. I watched gymnastics. I watched Team Japan trying to win the team gold again for years, and followed what I could find on the internet. In 2014 I read a couple of translated interviews with Uchimura and Kato in which they were asked for their reactions to the CoC crash. I was curious so I looked it up and obviously it was awful. I watched him struggle at NHK, win GPF, and then went back to YouTube to have a look at the OLympics, the previous competitions, the documentaries, and of course after all that you've got the full blown virus haven't you? It wasn't the best time to pick it up - Shanghai, Boston- but it certainly wasn't the worst either - NHK & GPF 2015. My family think I'm nuts- I have a battle on my hands for the remote any time the TV deigns to show anything (B ESP - snooker or cycling instead of the men's SP- grrrrr) - as far as they're concerned sport happens in a muddy field with a ball, and no one I know likes the sports that I do so I haunt the internet. I think the fact that my favourites in both are Japanese puzzles them but that is coincidence- inconvenient coincidence as I don't speak Japanese so am reliant on translations and pathetically grateful to those kind people who take the trouble to post them. I've never been the sort to be patriotic in this sort of thing - I follow the athletes I like best. I actually like a lot of different nationalities in both sports but my family only seem to be able to remember two of them- that's ok as I have no intention of memorising all their pet football hates- ( that's the way football works- you have one team you adore and a sliding scale of hatred for all the others). Also 'that Japanese bloke' doubles for both when their memories fail them!
  8. Remember the team ex from WTT 2015- Storm from the Yoshida brothers. i really liked that, so much that I bought the cd.
  9. You're probably spot on there. I'm not keen -didn't really like NDP, liked bits of R&J 2 but didn't think it gelled as a whole. One of the few who liked the costume! I like Notte Stellata - I think I like DW when he isn't trying to fit round the requirements of a competition programme. I agree completely. Actually, never mind, I wasn't so hot on the boobskirt Fair enough - think most people agree with you on that one!

  11. It sounds divisive- not sure it fits with the way TCC appears to operate?
  12. Wow- that's quite an admission to make!!!!
  13. So true. Every time that the man skates remotely clean or not so clean you can hear every comentator from every TV post saying: "Well, is not a WR this time, but ..." Come on, ppl! Give this guy a break, he's human, and he really don't need to break the WR every time he skates. But that's the pressure he's on at every competition, and, sometime it get to him like it was at WTT. This is media from our times and it's not valid only in FS, in all the sports is the same. I wish I was sufficiently tech savvy to link that video of him after winning OG wandering at the side of the rink hemmed in by photographers with their lenses literally in his face!
  14. I know what you mean about the thread and agree re Max, but Xeyras right -sky high expectations because of Nov/Dec 2015
  15. I totally agree- my husband has no interest at all in skating, but he did watch the end of the WC with me and Boyang was the one he liked- he said he was the only one who seemed to be having fun
  16. I really like the collar on the original and I loved the one on PotO 2nd costume
  17. Well with two references on MA twitter I think everyone can relax about stray fans finding this forum
  18. I'm sorry but Nathan Chen's FP is in the final 4? Who's coming up with this vote and they obviously need glasses. Have to agree - weren't you watching him at a competition and remarking on his heavy landings? I was interested to hear that because they always looked like that to me but everyone says that things look different live and the commentators never remarked on it - too dazzled by the number of quads I suppose- so I wondered if it was just the TV. In any event when the jumps aren't working that FP is just meh. (Bit meh even when they are to my eye tbh- someone said he let Borodin do the heavy lifting)
  19. Somewhere there is a piece written about kintsugi- the Japanese art of repairing a broken pot with gold lacquer. The writer had photos of a blue pot repaired in that way and linked it to the alterations in that costume. I've no idea whether they were correct but it was a charming thought- wish I could remember where I saw it. We talked about it in the FF  It was an especially sentimental concept because of the hardship he went through the previous season, the crack representing his injuries and the inability to skate that beautiful program clean. :crybaby: I should have known it would have been there- such a variety of stuff buried in that FF!
  20. Oh I really hope they do the slow but sure quad acquisition and don't lose the rest of it because of the jumps

  22. Oh I love Julian! The only thing I had to cough about was his FS music this past season. When It's a Man's World started I'd groan! So please, please Julian get some good music, with a good music cut! I'm guessing he'll have both new programs as I put a spell on you SP was the one he kept from the previous season. Aargh - just couldn't get past the music- 'It's a Mans World' - shoot me now
  23. I really like it when someone takes a classic- a 'warhorse' if you like- and gives it their own slant. I'm a big fan of Matthew Bourne- his Swan Lake, Cinderella, Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty - inspired! I don't imagine he would do R&J 3 but in an alternate universe I think Shae-lynn Bourne could do something marvellous with Prokofiev.
