The timetable of events for the Olympic figure skating seems crazy

Have to agree with you on this - dance and pairs will hold the singles back- it really doesn't seem worth the risk/distraction for the singles. I would love Satoko to come back strong- I see what everyone says about her jumps but I just love her style and her determination- as long as she's properly recovered.

Like everyone this is almost impossible- it's easier to pick the outliers that I'm less keen on (NDP &Z) than an outright favourite. If I were going to do it it's probably PotO. I hadn't paid much attention to skating for ages- but I loved men's gymnastics especially team Japan, and I saw translated interviews with both Uchimura and Kato with their reactions to the awful crash at CoC-( basically both said if they'd been coaches they'd have tried to stop him but in his place they would have carried on). So I looked it up, was duly horrified, but backtracked through his career and rediscovered skating. I know it was never skated to his satisfaction but it was amazing that he got it to the standard that he did after all that. No 2 would be Chopin 2- I loved everything about it. Somewhere someone posted a piece about the costume and the Japanese tradition of kintsugi - mending broken pottery with gold lacquer, illustrated with pictures of a broken blue pot patched with gold. It seemed a good metaphor for the way he pulled round and put it all back together in time for the next dip of the rollercoaster.

Yeah, things will be forgotten there once the thread is up. I was wondering the same - whether they'd be embarrassed to put out a very long thread with every other post writer being 'banned'. Wouldn't it make them look... weird? I believe they'll severely truncate the thread. But good luck for them to read those 70k posts! I had time on my hands - and I managed to make it to page 1400 in a week or so! I think it probably looks extremely weird - not sure they have the sense to recognise how it must look, which makes it even funnier imo!

I spent a good amount of 4 hours there since opening my account until it was banned without notice xD You could still see all my posts there I think (under OmNomNomNom) so judge for yourself how BS's banning works Well in that respect they were very equal rights- long term posters, newly joined posters, people with 1000s of posts and those of us with a few- we all got the boot. It amuses me to think of that 'restored' thread with all the 'banned' posters on it!

The suit thing seems to be part of being a Japanese sporting genius- Hanyu has extravagant costumes or UA on the ice and looks amazing- so does Uchimura on HB,PB etc. in his competition gear. Otherwise they seem to exist in either baggy sports gear or truly horrible suits/ fed blazers on formal occasions. I suppose off the peg suits aren't designed with extraordinary physiques in mind.
