A report on the "tanbo art" in Kakuda, Miyagi. They started rice-planting today. I think we can see the silhouette of SEIMEI Yuzu? [NEWS]

I thought about posting this when the last time this became a topic of conversation. I didn't because firstly, I don't like to argue over a prediction, and secondary, it was basically about the Olympics, not about Yuzu. However, reading the conversation above, I wanted to share my view. It is long and not fun, so I am going to put it in a spoiler.

Yeah, sharing your photo may not necessarily a problem. It could sometimes bring you joy instead. But my point is, one's decision to let go of some control over a photo they took should not be taken lightly or for granted by others, because the photo could be something precious for the photographer, and it could also be a fruit of their labors. I knew that was not your intention. The whole thread shows how much you care about photographers as well. It must be helpful for those who are considering contributing their photo. (I wish I had one!) I am sorry that was not clear in my previous post. And I am happy to hear that there already has been a contributor whose archive covers the recent seasons! Wishing you good luck with the other photos you need, too.

I appreciate the wiki team's hard work and have been enjoying reading it in the past week. I hope the team will find the newer photographs too. But isn't it unnecessary to make this into a competition with other skaters or their fans? (I think Henni named Nathan and Sasha just as examples of other top/well-known skaters) I have never had a chance to take a photo during a skating event, but I used to love taking photographs. Every photograph that captured someone or a moment I loved had always been a treasure to me, no matter how good or bad it was as a photograph, so I imagine most of the fan-photographers are also treasuring Yuzu-photos they took. Although they are not my treasure, I feel uneasy seeing them treated just as a number or a tool to beat someone in a competition that is not so meaningful. I mean, every Yuzu photo taken in a competition venue by a fan can be a record or proof of something much more meaningful for the photographer. @Henni147 Thank you always for your hard work. I read the thread of your tweets posted by Senem above. I am afraid it is difficult to find photos of LMEY and Ten to Chi to, at least for now, because so far, they have been performed either in Japan, where fans cannot take a photograph in a competition, or at Worlds this year, where there was no audience. Aren't they using the wiki as a script?

These are what I could think of at the moment... Reports on 24h TV last summer mentioned the thesis: 羽生結弦“動いたこと”は卒論完成 24時間テレビにリモート出演 Published by Sponich, on August 23, 2020 https://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2020/08/23/kiji/20200823s00079000319000c.html 羽生結弦が卒業論文を公開 24時間テレビに出演 Published by Nikkan Sports, on August 23, 2020 https://www.nikkansports.com/entertainment/news/202008230000333.html Reports on his graduation from Waseda mentioned the thesis: 羽生結弦、9月に早大卒業 自粛期間中に卒論完成 Published by Sponich, on November 9, 2020 https://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2020/11/09/kiji/20201109s00079000128000c.html Interview with Yuzu done by Waseda mentioned the thesis: SPECIAL INTERVIEW 羽生結弦さん Published in Waseda's PR magazine "CAMPUS NOW" No.237 in October 2020, shared on their official website on November 9, 2020 https://www.waseda.jp/top/news/71168 An article focused on the thesis based on an interview with Prof. Shoji Nishimura, who supervised Yuzu's graduation thesis: 「ジャンプの成功と失敗にどんな違いがあるのか?」羽生結弦が早稲田大学で書いた“3万字卒論”の中身 Published in Sports Graphic Number Vol.1019 released on January 21, 2021, shared on Number Web on April 15, 2021 https://number.bunshun.jp/articles/-/846727 Some of them must have been translated, fully or partially, though I haven't bookmarked the translations. There are a few other articles published after Waseda shared the short version of Yuzu's thesis, but they are from a tabloid or based on the info published by the tabloid.

I read that Keiji is portraying Narcissus. Hyoen this year seems to be a Takarazuka-Revue style ice show consisted of short episodes in a journey around the world by "Prince of Light" played by Daisuke. I guess somewhere in this journey, the prince and Narcissus find each other on the opposite side of a mirror (mirror-like water) and maybe fall in love with each other, not knowing they are actually in love with themselves or something like that? I don't know If you are interested, Nittere Plus will air the show on May 17th, from 18:30 JST. https://www.nitteleplus.com/program/luxe/

Utana Yoshida teamed up with Seiji Urano as "Utaji." I don't know much about Seiji, but he seems to have been skating in the USA with Olivia Dietrich and Anna Lewis in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020, respectively. Not sure for which country they are going to skate together, but happy that Utana also found a new partner. Good luck, Utaji!!! https://www.instagram.com/p/COrtwvuDsdR/ https://www.instagram.com/p/COrtB-GpPen/ https://www.instagram.com/p/COrtB-Hn9po/

Another small correction: In the English subtitle, after Yuzu named tonkatsu and gyoza as his favorite foods at that time, the reporter asks him, "Roasted? Boiled?" However, the real question is "Rosu ga ii? Hire ga ii? (ロースがいい? ヒレがいい?)" which means "Which do you prefer, loin or tenderloin?" and Yuzu answers "I prefer loin. I like fatty meat quite a bit." He was 15 years old back then, as old as Kao is now.

I am afraid that both translations contain some mistranslations here and there, so let me share a full translation. Kao kun's comments from his Insta-live: "I was surprised to hear "RISE" at the opening of the last show of SOI tour. I guess it perplexed Hanyu kun the most. He (T/n: or everyone) was like, "Whose music is it?" and I was like, "Oh no, that's my music " As to the choreography Hanyu kun did for himself, I was impressed by the way he did it on the ice putting many thoughts into it. I finally bought MONSTER HUNTER RISE recently. Hanyu kun said to me, "You started playing it now?" " "I met Hanyu kun at SOI for the first time since JNats and was feeling shy to talk to him, but Hanyu kun was very friendly and kindly talked to me very often. When I was picking up tons of rice and meat from catered foods, he said, "Don't you have some vegetables? You should have them as well. Well, I am not in a position to say this to you. If possible, I would eat only strawberries and gyozas." " (T/n: Probably on acnes) "I think it is getting a bit better as I am trying to eat vegetables following Hanyu kun's advice... Or I may be cured by Hanyu kun's words themselves. (Laughs) Hanyu kun gets acne too, for example, when he failed to rinse off hair conditioner, and he advised me that having fruits would help." "When Shun and I were impersonating baseballers, Hanyu kun asked me to impersonate Giita, (Yuki Yanagita of Softbank Hawks) specifically, when he bats. When I did it, he said, "That was Asamura~ (T/n: Probably Hideto Asamura of Rakuten Golden Eagles)" He knew well about not only the famous players but also the setup pitchers and the middle relief pitchers. I thought he watched baseball a lot. I've watched (the video of) his ceremonial opening pitch. That was a nice pitch!" Reference: Yanagita https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4hR7v1uGD8 Asamura https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZUBe76ee6c "My favorite programs of Hanyu kun are H&L, SEIMEI, LMEY... all of them. I mean, he looks cool no matter what he skates. I would love to copy LMEY. The trick of his I want to try is the へ lunge. (T/n: The lunge in PW. Sorry I forgot how you call it in English) I wish someday Hanyu kun choreograph my program. If I could have a ticket to land 4A or 4Lz in the second half of the program, I would choose the 4Lz in the second half. The ticket to land 4A is for Hanyu kun..." Q: If you have a training camp and can choose a coach you train with, who would you choose? Brian Orser? Evgeny Plushenko? Yuzuru Hanyu? Or anyone else? "Definitely Hanyu kun. First, I want to learn how he thinks. I want to learn from the way he dedicates his life to figure skating and the way he controls his mind toward his performance. Hanyu kun calls me "Kao!" It is nice that he knows my name. Hanyu kun is funny and extremely kind." Kao: Which one of Shun's and my love for Hanyu is stronger? Well, Shun's sure is strong but mine is as strong as his. (Laughs) (T/n: From @tyugaeri) Kao kun says it is OK to share his comments on SNS as long as you are not sharing wrong info, but it is not ok to upload the video on YouTube or elsewhere, please don't. Here's another translation by Shu-Pa! on twitter: This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].

That's my reaction to PW in the team event at Sochi. I always get nervous at the beginning of his performance feeling, "AAAgggghhh finallyyyyyy, it's Olympiiiccccsss!!!!!" while fully recognizing that it is past and even thinking that he looks so young back then. For SEIMEI, on the other hand, I had a strange feeling when I watched his performance in real-time. I was super nervous until he reached his starting position, but the moment I heard the sound of ryuteki (the Japanese flute) I felt that I was witnessing a moment in history, and as if I knew every moment after that beforehand. I think it was probably because I was thinking that that could be the last SEIMEI performed in a competition, and I had to be ready to say goodbye to it (and Yuzu as a competitor.) Fortunately, I was completely wrong! However, every time I play SEIMEI at PyeongChang, I remember the strange feeling and become emotional from the beginning. I guess that we fans also lived the moment intensely in each of our own ways and that makes us re-live the experience whenever we re-watch the performance.

I was away from the epicenter, but it was a long earthquake. There was no threat of a tsunami, and there seems to have been no power outage either. Three have been reported injured so far. In some places in Sendai, water pipes got broken by the shock. Public transportations are affected as they were in March. Hope Yuzu is safe at home with his family, and Ice Rink Sendai stays intact. Praying that the aftershocks subside quickly and everyone in the affected area stays safe and can live worry-free.

Looks like Kansai Univ. has prohibited their students belonging to their clubs from all face-to-face activities until May 5 due to the spread of CV. Mitsuki says he won't be able to train for another three weeks.

The OP is just waiting for the news of his arrival, wondering if he will get there today. Although I am in the western part of Tohoku and the seismic scale here was 4 out of 7, it was a long and scary earthquake. The Meteorological Agency considers it was an aftershock of 311. The number of injured reported so far is 8. Some areas in Miyagi went through a blackout, but the power is back on now if the info provided by the Tohoku Electric Power NW app is correct. Public transportation is greatly affected by the quake... Local trains and the Shinkansen to Tokyo are all suspended. Many flights have been canceled too. I hope Yuzu hasn't been affected by this, although he is less likely to be traveling in Japan now. I also hope his family and Ice Rink Sendai are Safe. Not sure how many satellites are in Miyagi, but I hope you guys are safe as well.

I have only limited knowledge about Ayumi, but training abroad would not be much trouble for her. She used to train in Michigan, coached by Shpilband, Camerlengo, and Krylova. According to this interview published by Waseda Sports, she applied to a Canadian university/Canadian universities to study Kinesiology and passed the entrance exam/exams. She chose Waseda because, at that time, it was best for her to balance study and her career as an ice dancer. She says that she chose the School of International Liberal Studies because she didn't have much choice as her Japanese skills weren't enough to receive advanced education, which means, I think, that she has no problem communicating in English.

I still miss UtaShin a lot but am wishing AyuShin good luck at the same time. Ayumi and Shingo are both from Tokyo and have been training under Yutaka Higuchi, who helped Shingo's transfer to TCC, so they won't have much trouble training together in this circumstance as UtaShin had last year.
