  1. It's from Figure Skate Magazine 2020-2021 Vol. 5 Season Highlights released lately.
  2. Indeed. I am kind of horrified with how things are turning out......
  3. Found a news clip that includes a part of the interview I mentioned above. It's a report on Media Day 2014. His comment is fragmented, so the wording is probably a bit different from what he actually said, but here is my translation: "I've always wanted to skate to this music since childhood, but what inspired me most strongly was... (edited) When I was in junior high school... (edited) I had an opportunity to watch Phantom of the Opera. That's when I thought, " I definitely want to skate to this music."" This interview can be found in Aoi Honoo II too. In it, he specifically says that he watched the movie version of POTO in music class at junior high school. He had already learned the musical pieces through watching figure skating and had been wanting to skate to it himself, but the movie re-ignited the desire. He asked Brian and David to let him skate to it already in 2012, but David turned down because it had not been long after Patrick Chan did POTO. Here is the video of David's interview. (This one's new, so you might have already watched it)
  4. A small correction: They appointed Yuzu as their ambassador in April last year, so his term is until April 2022. I guess the entry by Sendai city is a reminder? This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  5. Unfortunately, I don't have a link. The interview (part of the interview, I guess) was aired in TV Asahi's coverage of CoC2014, before the live broadcast of the men's FS. CoC wasn't a normal comp, so it's a bit difficult to find such fluff videos later...
  6. Q4 is "Who is the person of a different gender you like (in any way!) at the moment?" and Yuzu skipped this question. By the way, the Japanese person named as his hero/idol in A3 is Shuzo Matsuoka and the other thing he named in A7 is fizzy drinks or carbonated drinks. This is PornoGraffitti
  7. He watched the movie when he was in junior high school. He had wished to skate to POTO since then, and after Sochi, he finally had his wish granted. In an interview given to TV Asahi during that summer, he said, "I think the (public) image of Phantom, after all, is rather dark, or heavy, connected to dark things like grudge or hatred, but I am hoping to express something pure and beautiful in his heart hidden behind that dark things." He also compared Phantom's love for Christine and music to his love for figure skating.
  8. This video is an excerpt from Good! Morning aired by TV Asahi, on November 5, 2014, to promote CoC2014. Here is a longer video. The segment featured his costume starts around the 05:39 mark. Although they don't mention the designer's name here, it is clearly Tadashi Nagashima, introduced in this news clip (watch from 00:43) as the designer of the costume worn by Yuzuru Hanyu at Sochi2014 when he skated Parisienne Walkways. This video is an excerpt from NONSTOP, aired by Fuji, on May 13, 2015. As to later versions of Ballad No.1 costumes, it is not clear who designed them. In 2017, Satomi Ito said that Yuzu's FP and EX costumes since POTO 2.0 were her works when a fan asked Satomi if she designed the one for Notte Stellata.
  9. It's 2A but nice tano. I love his tano 3Lo too.
  10. Pasquale took part in the first half of Fantasy on Ice 2014 as a choreographer and directed the opening, etc., as David, Jeff, Brian did in later FaOI tours. Here are some photos of him with the cast. https://ameblo.jp/suzuki-akko/entry-11874711037.html
  11. So it is not a rumor. https://www.sport1.de/wintersport/2021/06/nach-karrierende-mit-massot-savchenko-setzt-karriere-in-den-usa-fort So sad. Why? Of all people...
  12. Nice to be able to read this report. It reminds me of myself reading similar reports at that time. It was a nice ending to Yuzu's show tour that year which started with anxiety over the injury he was suffering during Worlds2013. The jump contest held the previous week in DOI was also crazy and spectacular. Yuzu, Javi, Kevin Reynolds, Mura, Nobu were all showing off their quads, and everyone was screaming in fear and excitement. I could not see FaOI Fukuoka live, but the 4T-3A-3A-3A-1As beaming on my TL blew away all the negative thoughts. By the way, has this interview after True Love been translated before? I watched it for the first time in years, but it was so cute and funny. Here is a rough transcription and translation: インタビュアー:藤井フミヤさんのヒット曲、"True Love"、どんな思いを込めながらスケーティングされましたか? 羽生:もう本当に、あのー、まあフミヤさんのだいきょ、代表曲に恥じないような演技をすごい心掛けてましたし、またあのー、すごく自分自身気持ちよく滑れましたし、また何か、そのー、まあラブというものはなかなかないんですけれども(笑)でもそういう思いを込めてしっかり滑りました。 Interviewer: "True Love" is a hit song by Mr. Fumiya Fujii. What kind of thought did you put into your skating? Yuzu: I really... Um... I tried hard to live up to Fumiya san's masterpiece. (Laughs as he finds himself stuttering) I could skate really comfortably, and ah... Well, "love" is something I rarely stumble across, (Laughs) but I did my best to skate while putting such emotions into my performance. And he really is doing his best in his performance. I always love the way he can wholeheartedly engage in his performance and believe in what he does
  13. @Henni147 True Love I found a source, but this one is a tweet by a fan, so we cannot call it reliable... This person inquired of CIC (the producer of Art on Ice Japan 2013) about who choreographed collaboration pieces with Fumiya Fujii. It says, "This may have already been shared, but CIC kindly told me w(=草) who choreographed the collaboration pieces with Mr. Fumiya. They said: Big sister Arakawa's: Choreographed by herself. Mura kun's: Choreographed by himself and his father Coach Mura. Nathalie and Fabian's: Not sure because they had already finished choreography before coming to Japan. Yuzu kun and Daisuke san's: Miyamoto sensei. (I knew it!)" Story Kenji says he choreographed this one in his blog, although indirectly. This is an entry made after the last show of FaOI Fukuoka 2013. https://ameblo.jp/kenjimiyamoto/entry-11568324210.html A rough translation: "AI san I had the privilege of collaborating with AI san. Her singing voice was so wonderful that I felt as if it literally came into my heart. It made all kinds of emotion well up in me. "Story" was a song I used in Great East Japan Earthquake Charity Exhibition. It is a special song for me, and I have a strong feeling about it. When I heard AI san's singing voice live at the rehearsal, I realized that tears could come out this naturally. Together with the wonderful, emotional performance by Hanyu kun, it became a beautiful collaboration. AI san was a very charming, friendly, nice person. All the skaters came to love her and gathered around her. Thank you." Ienai yo 24h TV 2017 (aired on August 26, 2017) is a source. Here is a Yuzu-cut of it. Around the 4:29 mark, they introduce Ienai yo using the footage of Yuzu's performance in FaOI 2014 Makuhari, with a caption which says "振付:パスカーレ・カメレンゴ" which means "choreography: Pasquale Camerlengo." Apparently, this info has been shared first by Yuzu in FaOI 2014 brochure, though I cannot confirm it because I don't have it on me.
  14. Not always. Masquerade is an example. Yuzu choreographed a part of the opening (where he and Nobu skate together) but AFAIK, the choreographer of Wing of Words hasn't been revealed. As to Ienaiyo and True Love, I will let you know if I manage to find the sources!
  15. Why are they so insistent about this award? Why don't they put their time and energy into something more practical? Or are they being practical here? Anyway, this year, it will be much easier for us because it coincides with DOI. Also, there isn't much time for voting and promoting this time, and we will have Ice Jewels interview until then, we will also have to guess what Yuzu revealed to Kiss and Cry about his private life, we may have to worry about GP assignment as well... In short, we will be too busy to engage with it seriously. "True Love" is also choreographed by Kenji Miyamoto. "Ienaiyo" is choreographed by Pasquale Camerlengo. Wow, but the wiki is impressive! So detailed and well organized. Thanks, Henni!

  18. Kazuki Tomono is now affiliated with Central Sports. Central Sports runs sports clubs and other facilities nationwide, including Kazuki's home rink. Kazuki has been receiving their support since 2018. He made an affiliation agreement with them after graduating from Doshisha Univ. this spring, https://www.instagram.com/p/CP1x5NGjWNu/
  19. Sorry for the typo. The question was "Haskap or Zunda?" Haskap is the name of a dark purple berry that grows in Hokkaido. Haskap means "the thing that grows on a branch abundantly" in Ainu. In 2019, Yuzu visited Atsuma, Hokkaido for 24h TV. Atsuma got hit by a huge earthquake and a landslide in the previous year, and the local haskap farmers were trying to recover from the damage. Yuzu visited one of the farms, and they treated Yuzu to their haskap berry and haskap smoothie. Here is a subbed clip of the trip. What is a Haskap? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmWcL7kLdSM Lonicera caerulea https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lonicera_caerulea Zunda is mashed edamame. It is a local specialty of Sendai. Here is Yuzu having zunda mochi for a photoshoot for Shumatsu Sendai, a travel guide published in 2016. Discover Sendai -Zunda- https://sendai-travel.jp/eat/zunda/ Explanation of zunda by Zunda Saryo (Sendai-based confectionery known for zunda sweets) http://us.zundasaryo.com/ Which do you want to try?
  20. The Real has 14 pages of 19 cuts from the 2020-2021 season, although all of them are the photo taken during the practice sessions, a press conference, or when Yuzu was in the Kiss and Cry putting a jacket on the costume.

  23. Not sure if this is an appropriate thread to post this, but an interesting interview with Mirai focusing on mental health. It is divided into five segments and each segment lasts about 15 minutes. Behind The Podium A Mental Health Conversation With Mirai Nagasu Website: https://www.mghstudentwellness.org/mirai Playlist on YouTube: Patrick Chan and Kirsten Moore-Towers talked about the same topic in an article about Naomi Osaka's withdrawal. (I put this in here because Patrick's comments are longer than Kirsten's) https://www.cbc.ca/sports/tennis/osaka-withdrawal-raises-important-questions-on-media-mental-health-athletes-say-1.6051880
