Hi, can you please put FaOI Niigata TV broadcast scheduled for Sat, July 14 on the calendar? It will be on BS Fuji from 17:00 - 17:55 JST. http://www.bsfuji.tv/fantasy-on-ice/pub/index.html Than you!

NST (Niigata local TV) is broadcasting FaOI Niigata on Sat, July 7th (14:00 - 14:55 JST) and BS Fuji is broadcasting it (probably the same one from NST) on Sat, July 14th (17:00 - 17:55 JST). I am a Japanese and am a bit confused as well...I've googled and read about the movie on Wiki. This movie is a bit strange. It is supposed to be about 3 guys who have been impersonating 3 very famous people - Brad Pitt, Ryoma Sakamoto (historical samurai - Wiki page) and Yutaka Ozaki (legendary Japanese singer song writer - Wiki page) for 10 years because the girl (they call her '姫=the princess') they love likes these characters. Anyway, the video clip is about Brad Pitt asking the loan shark's errand boy that who is the princess's current favourite person then the errand boy mutters 'Hanyu-kun..Hanyu-kun' and Ryoma Sakamoto says 'Oh...Hanyu Yuzuru?' then Brad Pitt butt in 'Ah...figure skate, the prince of the ice (氷上の王子)'. And Ozaki tells the boy to become Hanyu Yuzuru from today to be accepted as a soldier of their country (to become one of the princess's admirer?). I know Japanese make some wacky movies and I feel this is one of those.

I like the wholesome and honest feel of "A Day in the Life" but I also want to see more sassy side of Yuzu. I think this could show that bad ass Yuzu...

I also think I should learn a bit more English! Probably my lack of understanding of the word mediocre caused this. I mean the technique of the artist that I can see is good. I just found Takahashi's expression isn't really showing the Takahasiness that I recognise. The essence of the character should still come through whatever the style or technique used in the drawings and I didn't get that from this picture. Tbh, when I saw Takahashi's expression (top part of his face) of this picture, I've mistaken him as Nathan Chen...so I was that much confused It's interesting to know how others see things. Certainly I've learned a bit more about art. Thanks @¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (I can't properly quote your name...) for this: p/s: Even so, there's a particular piece drawn by this artist that is actually one of my favorite fanart of Hanyu. Gonna see if I can dig it up... Yes. Please find the piece.

I have thought about why I instantly disliked the picture and tried to find a possible answer. I think the caricature style of this picture reminded me of the drawings which typically put on old newspaper in the west in which Asian faces are drawn with distinctive slant eyes. Regardless the artist's intention, I almost felt the underlying mockery somehow. That's an reaction not very fair for the artist but nb that's something I couldn't get over to appreciate this picture. Gosh I feel bad now...

Sorry I shouldn't have said 'mediocre' just because I didn't like the way the artist draw Daisuke, Yuzu and Shoma. I meant to say the artist didn't really capture the characters well enough to be able to recognise straight away. I didn't realise it was Daisuke to begin with... and I thought Yuzu and Shoma look rather like bears...so maybe I just don't like this particular style of drawing. idk maybe I'm so used to see anime drawings...

The Great Glittering Planet Hanyu Glossary (or welcome in fandom lingo)
BWOZWaltz replied to EisElle's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
I'm not sure if I got this right but I feel 'squishy' is softer than 'soft'. Soft is emotionally feeling tender but still have a shape. And squishy is at the point where you starting to lose the shape...so I'd say 'squishy' is synonym but slightly softer state than 'soft' -
This is not very good pic because if you can't tell who they're supposed to be by just looking at them. Oh well, we're so spoiled by those fan artists whose drawing skills are better than these mediocre artist whose style is like an old news paper cartoonist. Sorry but not sorry!! Edited:

I think simple design shirt would suit Yuzu the best. I'd love to see him in shirt & tie and braces just like the one he wore when he did 'sing sing sing' back in the junior days. Yep I'm dreaming with my eyes open

Thanks for these links. I didn't realise it's the whole event and ended up watching it (again) for the whole 4 hours last night I still remember when I watched the oly live streaming, I was nervous wreck. Sitting in front of my laptop and praying as I watched Yuzu skated his SP. It was like a dream. I screamed when he finished and was shaking with excitement. I was so happy to see Yuzu skating again after the months of total black out. I will never forget about this day. I've watched the program about Tanaka san (one of the photographer uncles). It was quite interesting to know his insight as a sports photographer. Not sure if someone is going to do translations but you can see his pick of the best shots of Yuzu and other skaters and some of them are amazing. Tanaka san said someday he would like to have a photo exhibition using the photos that he thinks the best shot of various skaters. The best shot in terms of capturing the expression that he thinks it's the best or the expression he likes. Because of the photographers who captures the moments that are otherwise disappears as we watch, we get to enjoy the amazing moments long after it's happened. He also said he wants to be like an uncle who is close enough but not too close to keep some distance with the skaters in order to take good photographs. I wish I could translate the whole program but I haven't got the time or the skill so have to leave it to someone with more suitable skill to undertake the task (hopefully...).

Yuzu and kids interaction is just so precious... When they're asked how it was after meeting Yuzu, the first kid said 'It's summer school holiday soon so I want to remember meeting Hanyu-senshu and try to do my home work properly'. I was thinking what Yuzu said about the summer home work when he's on Asaichi TV (time stamped at 2:17)

When I opened the thread during my lunch hour, I nearly fainted seeing this photo. OH what a fitting attire for the absolute king. His handsomeness has gone through the roof, if you'd ask me We are so fortunate to have Yuzu in this world Congratulations Yuzu!! The inscription is rather long and not sure how to put it all together so I just put all the points: The award is given for: The first Japanese man to win consecutive Winter Olympic Games in figure skating men single and it's been 66 years since anyone to win consecutive OGM Engraving the name in history with such achievement The achievement had made such deep impression and gave courage to the nation's people Giving the society brilliant dream and hope First hakama then a fitted suit... Honestly, he's annihilating the entire population of fanyus. His family crest is consist of a circle, three turtle shell (hexagon) with flower. I love the traditional Japanese haori + hakama for men. Yuzu looks so good in them it's unreal... I thought about this too when I watched his interview after the ceremony. But I also feel optimistic that Yuzu is Yuzu after all. Whatever he does, he will always try to be true to himself. The burden he carries doesn't get any lighter may be but he has grown into such fine young man. I think I can see him growing up a bit more to finally a fully grown man (with a baby face ofc) so that the burden will not crash him. We just have to trust him. I thought it's an amazing Monday to start the true off season but then again, we still have Heroes and Futures in Nagano TV broadcast this coming Sunday. FaOI Makuhari D1 - D3 broadcast on 21, 22 and 28 July. FaOI Kanazawa broadcast on 29 July. Also possibly few more TV broadcast of FaOI in August... I know I'm going to dance till I drop to this crazy tune that's ringing in my head since I laid my eyes on Yuzu!!

I've watched Daisuke on S-PARK. He was talking about his current training and said he's started triple jumps but hasn't started quads. He told his old coach Utako Nagamitsu on the new year's day that he's coming back to compete again. She said it could be partially because Daisuke never competed at WC after Sochi and that could have been on back of his mind for all this time that he's never had a chance to say good bye properly to the home crowd. Daisuke also said that at JPN Nat in Dec 2017, Sota Yamamoto and others had inspired him that everyone had their own battles leading up to that point and they skated with whatever they've overcome or believed. And that made him think about his own battle in skating. So at that time, a very strong wish that he wants to compete again came into his mind. Maybe he's realised that he had unfinished business in competitive skating because his knee injury prevented him from skating after Sochi. And seeing Sota overcame his injury and skated at Jpn nat at the time made him realise he wants to finish his competitive skating the way he really wanted. He said his current goal is to be among the last group at JPN national and anything beyond that is yet to be thought through. The way Daisuke spoke, I believe he's taking things one step at a time to be realistic. He knows that the time has changed and coming back to competitive skating after 4 year blank is not a walk in the park. I don't really know the truth but I don't think Yuzu and Daisuke have any issues between them but sadly their fans don't see that way.

Ummm...I've repeated again and again and Shinya's pronouciation at that point is not very clear and very short sound almost like Yuz instead of Yuzu to me. And the question still remains, why 'chan' not 'kun'? I've heard very old ones call everyone with 'chan' but Shinya is not that old so that leaves me with what kind of interaction these two have?? Interesting:D

Sounds Yu chan but he's saying Yuzu chan i think. NB he clearly adores Yuzu

The news about Daisuke is total shock to me. It's been 4 years and also he's over 30 now. Figure skating has advanced so much since and now he's decided to come back is truly something else. I wonder if Daisuke goes to NHK, Shoma will still win but then Daisuke could be on podium as well? WTH. This is interesting. I hope Daisuke brings some beautiful very mature program to the season as that is what I'd expect to see from him as I think technical side of his skating is not up to date in terms of quad. ETA: Daisuke will be on TV - Fuji TV channel S-PARK (23:15 - 24:35 JST) http://www.fujitv.co.jp/s-park/index.html

Yuzu at the interview...his voice sounds a bit nasal as if he's got a cold...ummm please stay healthy your highness the celestial maiden

Yuzu must be in Shizuoka today? He's probably sleeping by now I think I have to go to sleep it's after 2am...oh well, whatever the assignments, Yuzu will be competing for sure that's the main thing:D

I love the way this thread evolves...Antarctica. penguins, onesies, sparkly boxers, Queen...it's like watching people slowly losing their minds. I know what I'm losing...hair, sleep, sense of normality Posting Yuzu photos is the only way to keep our minds sane or is it? I suspect someone's on something that's not coffee or liquor...;D

I like this one too.

I'm curious. What's a typical Canadian breakfast? Is it pancake and maple syrup with grilled bacon??

Have I got time for a cuppa?

You still need to wear socks for skating. Some may need to have a pair and half...
