Yuzu speaking English in interviews is hard for me to watch. I can relate to his struggle trying to say what he wants to but can't find equivalent words in English or suitable/familiar phrases. And when I see that, I can't help but feeling his kuyashii feeling. When he speaks in Japanese, he is so articulate and well spoken yet in English he struggles so much. I think he can communicate with coaches and people at TCC better because it is after all, what they talk about is something he knows very well aka figure skating. Things they talk about is pretty much routinely discussed matter as well. But at interviews, journos ask him questions that require more of his thoughts and that is hard for him because he has to think that in Japanese first then try to put it into English. Being perfectionist as he is, I can imagine his thoughts going through like 100 miles per hour trying to cover everything and end up over-thinking for how to say it. If someone just tell him to answer questions in more like set format without too much thinking, it'd be much easier but somehow I don't think Yuzu would settle for that. He cannot help being an 'extra' in whatever he does. Bless him...

Tango, Carmen, LGC 2.0 or R.J 3, anything to break this drought I'll take it!! Whatever he chooses, I trust Yuzu. It'll be beautiful like a rainbow and a lightning in a desert and I will tremble like a....cacti

For me, Yuzu is an artist and Yuzu himself is a part of his art. It is like 'body art' that he expresses his art through his own body/movements. He creates a world with his performance and us/the audience get to see the world through him. His performance triggers many emotions within my mind as his body moves in a way that I can only describe it as an emotional stimulant (yep, he's a highly addictive drug to me). Also his musicality enables his audience to feel the music through him. When he performed Ballade No.1 at PC, the entire audience in the arena as well as the people watching TV must have felt the music. He became the music. Yuzu has said in one of the press cons after PC that figure skating is an art based on sound technicality or something like that. Correct technique itself contains beauty within. When you see something is correctly carried out, you feel satisfied. That satisfaction makes you feel good mentally as well as physically in a way. His performance pushes my senses to make me feel what is there. I've heard Japanese commentators said this more than few time when Yuzu skated one of those mesmerising performances or broke WR and that is 「この青年はどこまで私達に夢を見させてくれるのでしょう」it can be translated "How far can this young man make us dream". It is like we are in the realm of dreams that keeps weaving dreams after dreams (occasionally nightmares...) All his other attributes like great communicator, hugely talented athlete, adorable/dorky character, gorgeous looks, quaky/ otaku side, hard worker, (I can carry on but I'm running out of time...), that works like 'layers' of his charms. I was also really impressed with his communication skill at the press cons after PC. His speech showed his wisdom. He is not just a clever boy but he truly is a wise man. All these are included in the whole package. He has many qualities that people can relate to as well as be inspired by. Yuzu at 24hr TV showed his continual effort towards supporting the disaster region. I've also watched today's (Aug 27th) Every news show (the one that someone posted a Jpn TV guide with HANYU SP SHOW written on). The contents were almost the same as 24hr TV Yuzu segment but it had few more footage from his visit to Naraha town. I loved watching Yuzu among the people who appreciate him as a person not Yuzuru Hanyu the figure skating superstar. He uses his star power to bring attentions of people to where it's needed. He can create Hanyuconomy to support them as well. But beyond that, Yuzu visited there in person. The school visit, the crafts class visit and the ice show. His busy schedule means time is really precious and yet, he went there to show his support. He talked to the school kids encouraging them to grow up to become someone who can support their home town directly through their action. His compassion is something I didn't know when I fell for him initially but became one of the reasons I respect and follow him now. The conclusion: He's got it ALL!!

Bonus question for others: 1. Bold and brave costuming choices: Plunging V neckline, or tights Purple tights...?

It's very interesting as well as annoying topic that if Yuzu is considered GOAT. I have written similar things before but we can only talk about this topic subjectively. Firstly before you use "all time" phrase, when is the "time" actually ends? We have to make sure before "all time" can be discussed, the time itself has to run out. Someone needs to check the time flow and tell us all - "Okay folks that's it. There are no more time running so you can talk about all time now" GOAT cannot be discussed objectively because what "great" can be vary from one person to another and there's no way that everyone agrees on something is truly "great" never mind "greatest". Apples or oranges, some like it and some don't. What you find beautiful can be very different from what others find beautiful. Another interesting thing for you to find out. I'm going to post this here. When you watch this video, just try to think what is "great" and "the greatest" to you. And just to put things in perspective, I also put this here. And can I just ask, would you like to carry a 2kg phone in your pocket? I'm sure people then (1973) thought it was "great". It's been 42 years since the oldest model (1973) and the (near) latest model (2015). ...and talk about the year 2015. What's happened in 2015? Yuzu had achieved 3 things through this performance - the program that's made into the record book of ISU (total score 322.40), into the history book of figure skating (the first person to break 200 (fs) and 300 (total) point barrier) as well as left a big and long lasting impression in the memories of tens of thousands of people. I've seen young Yuzu talking about that he wants to do a program/performance that is memorable for many people. He's a man of his word for sure! To me, the question of GOAT status for Yuzu is not that important. What he has given to me as well as the world is something that cannot be erased as long as I or the people who appreciate Yuzu live. And "all time" that relevant to me only lasts while I'm on this planet (for this case is the earth) So go and find your treasure of GOAT if you haven't found one. For me, I will treasure what I've found thank you very much Mr Hanyu!! Are you sure?? Meh...I don't think so

The power of White Yuzu. Never underestimate Mr Hanyu

I'm sure this has been posted here before but I just wanted to share it. Yuzu skating freely and that is just beautiful and I don't need anything else. I just love watching him skates that's all I ask for.

Um...so coffee is supposed to preserve his sanity but what about his hair...? Rather than preserving what's left of it, I can help choosing a good wig or two if he'd like a make over altogether... https://shop.wigsbuy.com/Custom-Mens-Wigs-101766/

...............sorry Zu I will never ever complain the lack of info again (for this off season anyway)...please can I unseen the image PLZ!? God had created Zu's face with the perfect balance including the shape of the face. I also conclude that though Javi's face is considered 'handsome', it cannot maintain the charm without the face actually attached to his face and the body. But poor Shoma, his face is completely lost the identity...

WTH and WTH...if this is something that we have to endure before the drought season ends, I don't think I can take it much longer Zu oh almighty Zu, please end this madness now and give us your new program or we may have 101 more varieties of these (...having said that, I'm curious to see what would be like to swap with Javi's face...)

I've been busy for the past two days with some stuff that had a deadline and finally got that sorted so came here to catch up on the thread and found 8+ pages thinking something must have happened (not media day tho as that would trigger way more pages increase) and found this!! Yuzu's hair style/too long/too short/with ponytail/braids/blonde/perm... ↑ The above is an AA that often being posted on japanese sites/threads that are talking about hair in a form or another. (I don't read 2ch or 5ch directly but read some matome sites). Yuzu's arm hair kind of reminded me that he is an actual person. Millions of Yuzu's images/pictures are on the net that are unbelievably gorgeous/pretty/adorable/cute/handsome/beautiful/awesome/godlike (can carry on but I'll stop) and I sometimes forget that he is a human just like us. But when I see something like his arm hair, it makes me appreciate him even more that he's not a god. Many fans that Yuzu has, they are all different in terms of how each express it but we all share the same love (I hope). You can worship him or whatever but we shouldn't forget that he is a living human and I don't want to lose the sight of that perspective. When we live day to day, sometimes shit happens. I'm sure Yuzu can laugh at himself for his ordinary day's shit when it happens. Being athletes or idols, public figure means there are chances that people make fun of you. I think that's okay and it is not disrespectful if that's done in a way that nobody's hurt and also done out of love for the person. Yuzu is very straight when it comes to skating but everywhere else, he does have a very good sense of humour. Those pics of Yuzu with altered hair colours and things, they look harmless to me. It is really nothing compared to malicious antis posts. As for the topic about commentators, I do not consider myself as a seasoned or well-informed fs fan so my view is fairly close to casual viewers: It is true for my case that commentators can affect views of performances to a certain degree. But I only rely on them on technical side of things like what type of jumps/combos but I never judge skater's performance with the tech glasses on (as I've never had one). But having said that, since I became obsessed with Yuzu, I started to notice the difference between his skating and other skater's. His skating skill after joined TCC improved heaps compared to pre-TCC even to my untrained eyes. Some things are obvious and others are not so obvious. To me, commentators should help viewers to understand what's going on from more professional perspective. But I believe calling out UR is not really their territory unless the judges called it (even that is questionable sometime...) I enjoy ESP ITA because of their knowledge of the sport and the passion. They are shamelessly devoted professional fans of the figure skating. And since some of you were talking about JPN commentators, I want to add my tiny 2cents here. I try to watch as many commentators version of the same performance as possible. And JPN one is quite boring to me as some of them just quote what kind of jumps or spins the skater's doing. Or scream out "and now he jumps 4s...and landed!". It's very objective and not so exciting as you can see what's happening right there... I like Sano sensei when he's a commentator. His approach is more subjective as he often gushes out "Ohhh--that's nice, really nice" or "Yes! That jump was really good" or "You may not realise but those kinds of entries are really hard" or something. I can feel his love towards each skaters and their performances. He's like an elderly uncle of Japanese figure skating community. Oh I almost forgot, @Xen thank you for your beautiful plea to Thy loyal subjects. I'd love to see The ode in haiku style if possible...

He also would love this one...

Sorry this may be OT but I need to post. No worries mate! I do get your more natural English expressions and really appreciate the jokes. No you don't need to be sorry for being true to your own background. But internet is a very powerful thing and writing & reading languages that are not your first language sometimes creates misunderstanding and that could lead to unnecessary arguments or unpleasant experiences. I know people from different parts of the world reacts differently to the same joke. So I just wanted to make sure Yuzu did not swear or anything. It is difficult for me sometimes to know the extent of a certain word meaning as English is not my first language so some of my wordings could get me in a deep pit... And trust me, I can swear in Japanese like yakuza if I'm really p*ssed off as I know exactly what kind of effect the word could have but I choose not to swear in English as somehow I feel it is "borrowed" word when I use such language. I guess English swear words are not wired to my emotions in the brain that's why I'm hesitant to use as a reaction because it is a response (think & say) rather than a reaction (connected directly to a feeling) ...if you know what I mean? People swear because that is a part of natural reaction but for me in English, it is not natural as I have learned them without the actual feeling directly connected to the words. His face...I just couldn't stop laughing (sorry Yuzu) but everything about him brings me so much happiness. I'm just a Yuzu addict so forgive me if I'm having too much fun with the hashtag!! I totally agree. I believe what Yuzu loves the most is competing among the people who also try to be the best of themselves. By becoming the best of their absolute best, and if Yuzu still wins over everyone, that is the ultimate confirmation of what he believes - by becoming the best of himself, it brings out the best of everyone. He loves figure skating so much and what he wants more than anything else is for people to love the sport as much as he does. Everything he does comes from the love for skating.

Haha I was pointing out just to be sure for non-Japanese ppl that the word itself had no sexual meaning and I didn't think you're referring the actual *thing. Yuzu's cry of 見たかー! shows how proud he was at that moment as he's at the top of the game. Yes he's saying "Who's the boss now?" so we're on the same page:D
-
Aw not that way but in the competitive male field, it translates as "I am the most dominant one". I am not usually fond of the b-word but in essence, in this case, his face says it all. Basically Yuzu's saying "Did you see what I'm made of!" so if the size matter then yes to your quote but Japanese word 見たかー! does not contain any sexual nuance itself.
-
As @katonice mentioned, Yuzu's screaming 「見たかーーーー!」"Mita kaa--!!" (Did you see that) but I agree with @Sammie's interpretation. His testosterone level is maxed out there. Oh I love his wild side
