Thanks for doing the research. Do you know which competitions? I was under the impression that he's never done it in an ISU-sanctioned competition. As for possibilities, of course, it's definitely possible for both Jason and Zhenya. But it's gonna take a lot of hard work and luck, that's for sure.

Tuktamysheva is probably one of the best jumpers in ladies' skating, ever. And even her quad toe at the old, old (sarcasm) age of 21 is extremely inconsistent (so far). There are miles of skaters in between Liza and Evgenia in terms of jump technique but they're not all getting (consistent) quads It is what it is.

Yup, I think in there she says she probably won't be able to do a quad either, it's just a sad realization that winning in Beijing is less and less likely but maybe she's coming to terms with it.

Haha I can't imagine him roller skating for some reason... 😂 I'm also using pic frames, the ones with 4 wheels. The wheels are solid rubber and SO heavy compared to skates. I find that things are just *harder* on roller skates which I guess is good for training? You can get away with so much on the ice because it's so ~smooth~ (for example, you can prerotate a ton on your jumps, but you just can't do that on the pavement, wherever you plant your toe pick, there's nowhere to go but up). You can't get away with stuff like that on the ice which I guess helps you pinpoint and fix your weaknesses a bit. Also not being fully over your skate just causes your wheels to slip out from under you but on the ice you have edges which are actually quite powerful, I miss them so much haha

That's exactly how I feel 😅 they're much heavier, and simple things like 3turns are so much more laborious bc of the added friction, and nope I absolutely can't spin on them (but I think that's because my "toe pick" isn't low enough on the skate). Oh and they wear down super fast and the toe picks need to be replaced often? But I think I'm starting to get the hang of it so I've just been practicing turns and the easier jumps...

Ahh I was on mobile, didn't see that you're also in the US. Yeah I didn't mean to imply you shouldn't have gone haha, obviously it depends on where you're from in the US (I live somewhere where things are getting better but are still not great). I'm glad you got ice time though, you should definitely take advantage...rinks are also at risk of going out of business, which sucks. For me, I'm just roller skating instead nowadays

Wow, this summarized a lot of what we had to say about the ISU in the last 6 months. Ofc I don't agree with it all (You Young was definitely a better contender for "newcomer" than one of the Russians, winning YOG and all) and I hardly noticed any geographical diversity in the shortlists at all. lmao the honesty; Gleikh's choreo wins medals but no beauty to be found
