  1. Ok, well i disagree bc the media hasn't gotten that message. People like you and me obviously know but we already know. TBF I don't really care if they criticize us for having Yuzu banners.
  2. I think your idea comes from a good place, BUT people have Yuzu-specific banners all the time, and he loves to see them. Having Yuzu banners is nothing new at competitions, and this kind of banner isn't any more idol worship than any other figure skating banner. The point is despite all the interviews given by Yuzu fans in English, Russian, etc., all of the Yuzu fan activity online in multiple languages, and people physically NOT SPEAKING JAPANESE OR LOOKING JAPANESE in the media, the media still labels all his fans as Japanese, so unless we hit them over the head with what we are trying to convey (no actual violence condoned), it will not sink in. Unfortunately.
  3. I think my general goal was to show "Yuzu has many fans who are not Japanese, in fact he has fans from all continents" and "It's not only Japanese fans who travel to see Yuzu" and to dispel the media myth that Asian fan -> must be Japanese // Non-Asian fan -> must be local (I don't know if it's pervasive but it's just been my impression). However, there can be many goals with this projects! (We just need to pack it in an easy to read, easy and cheap to print way to get the point across!
  4. While nice, I'm 100% sure it will be taken as "Oh, look at all those general skating fans from all over the world, how nice" rather than "Yuzu has fans all over the world!" To be fair, I personally don't care if people stereotype us at only caring about Yuzu (or caring about Yuzu the most). I've started a google form. If you're interested, please fill it out: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KEbFgrJw8b6Slue8bOr33pWL-GUdgYbnTzca8plKqyA/edit?usp=sharing
  5. I like your idea but I think we should definitely say YUZU (or Yuzuru). If we don't, it will not drive the point across...at all, I think. I think we could definitely combine the two?
  6. @4Nessie but so far I don't know how many people are interested? I guess SC is a long way off but we should probably make sure people are interested first.
  7. Thanks! Yeah, I agree. I'm talking to some sellers in China thru alibaba. I think if they can give us <$1/banner printed then that would be a good deal and we can print more (altho that would still add up quick).
  8. woohoo! congrats on the new boots. if you are an adult skater you don't need to go with the more basic skates especially if you're going to learn jumps. adult skaters can definitely "level up" based on height/weight/how much you're jumping etc. i got the p99s and yeah they are a bit difficult to spin in or maybe i'm just bad at spinning. if your blade is pulling you to one side they definitely need to be remounted. if you have a hand drill you could try to do it yourself >_> the ice at sixteen mile looked so great, i wish i brought my skates. plus if you skate you can see the skaters doing their warmups and walk right by them i saw evgenia and rika warming while i was skating on Friday. i need to skate more but im not in a mood to skate rn
  9. If you would like to participate, please fill out this form with your country and what event you'll be at! -- Hi all, let's discuss our banner idea here. I sourced around Alibaba and a seller gave me a price of $0.91 USD per banner for unlimited designs. 2' x 1' hand-held digitally printed banners on polyester. Example provided by seller: I think that is quite affordable and we can print flags for people who want them on Twitter etc. My only concern is the waste. It seems wasteful to print hundreds of polyester flags; I'm going to ask if they have cotton options but it's probably more expensive. Here are the designs I already made for ACI. It takes about a minute of finding high res photos and adjusting to add in another flag. I'm happy to take design suggestions too or for people to post their own designs, but I do think we should go with: Easy to read block lettering BIG font No/few images to keep things easy to read and also cheaper to print and also keep it a design that as many people as possible will want to carry. Something fancy may not appeal to everyone. I think maybe adding the actual country name is next could be a good idea as well. BUT the more text we have the smaller our font will need to be or the more bigger the banner. Anyone can print their own banners with these images (but afaik for ACI no one did).
  10. 1. The bolded is a great idea. Actually the yellow signs at ACI were handed out by some Chinese fans who printed thousands of them and handed them out to everyone. I don't really know what material they're made of but it would be cool if we could make something similar to keep costs down. I still haven't figured out what to search for though. 2. I think something clear like We Love Yuzu is as powerful as #YuzuisGlobal or #HanyuNation, maybe even more so, because it packs a punch and is more clear and easy to read. I like this but I think we should keep it simple and easy to read. The camera doesn't linger much on any one banner in the crowd. That's why I tried to make it as simple as possible with block font and no images. Replacing the heart with the country could work tho. P.S. Let's create a thread.
  11. Well, skate canada is in a little over a month. If people want to do this we need to put in an order soon. Like what country flags etc. I think I can find some place to print it for very cheap, like a dollar or two per banner (let's hope...sorry ACI guinea pigs). Maybe I should tweet about it?
  12. Did you go skating at sixteen mile sports arena? I went there yesterday with rental boots. I tried a really small waltz jump and felt like I almost broke my ankle. It's amazing how much you take padding for granted when you have it.
  13. Hey, check out what we did for ACI A lot of people didn't show up for the photo, but we printed and handed out 10 distinct flags. If you look closely at crowd photos you may be able to see, but it was a small effort because we kept it to PH for the time being. Would love to do this for Skate Canada etc. too to show the love Yuzu has all over the world.
  14. I hope not! I think the problem is with labeling someone based only on how they act or dress. Because IMO that's toxic masculinity -- thinking someone who doesn't act according to narrow masculinity norms must be gay. Which I highly disagree with. If Yuzu comes out and says he's gay or straight then we can talk about it happily. But we should not speculate on it (in either direction) based on stereotypes (and often Western stereotypes rooted in racism) before then. So yes it's really frustrating when people think they know something as personal as sexual orientation from a picture of someone. Most Yuzu (and also other male skaters) fans can probably relate But we ourselves shouldn't speculate too much here either P.S. I know that PH members come from all over the world, and in some parts of the world homosexuality is not accepted. But I would hope that no MEMBERS of PH share that view
  15. Wow! Those are large goats!! So cute!
  16. You have to upload it to a site like imgur and then paste the .jpg link here.
  17. Highest GOE? Wow. Trusova and Scherbakova's 4Lz is better than this, I think. But Russian fed vs. US fed: who will come out on top? We might know the answer to this soon haha.
  18. Yeah!! Thank you so much for putting that book together. It looks so involved and so beautifully done. I am sure Yuzu will like it!
